Ok, so Omen has inspired me to try and cosplay Jarlaxle. Because he's my all time favorite character.
Now I've never really done this before, I've always just worn whatever and done whatever, but now that I'm trying to make him look like something in particular I've hit a couple snags.
First and foremost. How the hell do you change your eyes? I can't figure it out for the life of me. There must be a way... and I hope to god its not some 50k item I'm going to have to get off the marketplace.
I've got some money, so hopefully I can make this work... but I'm definitly not putting him up in the arena till he's completely done... Not putting in some cheap hack outfit...
edit: So after doing some more looking around I'm seeing this is going to be quiet a challenge... At least if I want to make it accurate, which is what I want to do. They don't even have decent earings for pete sake! Let alone a cape that shimmers in every color of the spectrum lol

That could work for the cape. Also, to change your eyes, you have to remake your avatar by going into your account settings. There should be a little link in there somewhere to do it.
I'll post some more suggestions later.

Pretty cool that I have "inspired" you but I was actually going to try to do Jarlaxle, but oh well I guess kimmy is mine ^.^ Good luck on your quest, if I were you I would get some people to tek tek an affordable version of Jarlaxle, that may help, or I found that it helped. I don't have time right now, but after the 12th....I hope....I should have some free time. This is my last week of classes before summer, so I'm frantically studying for finals and writing an essay that's due the 8th.

Yukroneanninja Lose the cape. And get a vest. The cape is one of his trade marks. If anything I would drop to a more plain looking one, like a Lunar cloak, but I'm really trying to go for accuracy. He has a cape that shimmers every color. as for the vest, he's wearing one. lol I can't find one that is quiet right, but he's supposed to wear one that shows his abdomen, because he likes showing off his muscle...

I would actually recommend using a normal eye patch rather than that. In all the pictures where he's wearing it (see Road of the Patriarch), it looks exactly like a normal eye patch, rather than something that might be magical. Also, remember that he wears jewelry; add bangles at least, and maybe try to find other stuff that isn't bulky.
As for the hat, it's okay, but one of the key features is the diatryma feather. In that case, I would recommend one of the pimpin' hats. They're still wide-brimmed, but with the addition of the feather.
The cloak is a huge problem. The one you have now is okay, despite the fact that it is mostly yellow, but it does at least have a lot of colours in it. It's unfortunate that the Otami Feather Cloak isn't flatter, because that would be perfect. I definitely wouldn't use the Lunar Cloak, just because it's black, but Jarlaxle is one very colourful drow. I could somehow see the Scallop Cloak on Yemaya's Pearl working, just because it sort of shimmers, and it does have a gradient in it.
Also, I'm just going through tektek right now, and I realized you could use any wide-brimmed hat, and then put the larger hatpin from Picolitrosso's Urn on. But that's really expensive.
I shall return with more ideas at another time.

ya I considered the pimpin hats, but they just didn't seem right... I know the feather is important though so I was looking for a way to just get a feather to put on my head that would blend with the hat etc. So Pic's urn has something like that... but ya that's extremely expensive. It will be part of my project I guess...
As for the eye patch I kind of figured I'd end up using a normal one. I just seem to have a vague recollection of them saying in the sellsword's books (or somewhere else) that it was gem studded. What I wanted to do was put a normal patch and then put this blue thing over it. So it really looked like he was wearing a patch with some sort of gem on the front. But the sprites just don't work out that way. So I will end up going with a normal patch.
As for the cape, if I'm looking at the right pearl one you were referring to, isn't it a bit to big and flamboyant? O.o I mean Jarlaxle is like that, but that thing looks way over the top with the frilly stuff. It will completely dominate the avatar I think...
I was planning on buying Jewelry, I just wanted to get some of the bigger stuff first. But its hard find decent jewelry anyways. Heck, earings are near impossible... and you can't put on more than one. Unless there are some I'm missing...

I know that you guys are gonna probably say "duh Omen!" But some how I just realized Jarlaxle isn't king or prince, he is the pimp, I mean for god sake we just discussed Minandreas wearing a pipmin' hat for the avi, plus this cape, can we say pimp! That of course got me to thinking about making a Drow pimp in a all purple suit, with an overly flamboint cape and hat (with feather) Then using one of those capes, with a bunch of jewlery, and it really did kinda look like a more monderinzed version of Jarlaxle (If in modern times he went into the pimpin' buisness.)

Sure, there were the little pearls on the front... but I don't recall it being frilly. Some of the Genie jewelry was good. Like the bangles, and those little ear cuff things... @ omen - Yes, Jarlaxle would make a very good pimp. 3nodding

Ok, so I tried Jarlaxle instead of Kimmy first. Now it turned out okay, but really busy in the chest area. sweatdrop I really wanted to put a cape on him, but the cape I wanted to put on him isn't the right color. I was sad. It is though, the style that was the most similar to what I wanted to use. Also, I didn't like any of the hats that were available. Here you go.Here's without the cape: Here's with the cape:
