She leaned against the wall for the upteenth time that day, tired - or as she claims to be, anyway. Nami was looking for a job, a task she clearly wasn't enjoying. After all, how could she? She was used to an easy life so having to work to get money was something she clearly didn't enjoy. Why should she have to work, anyway? She had a bank! He was supposed to pay for her expenses! But noooo - she was supposed to get a job of her own. Just he wait. She'll find him and demand for money! So, she was just wandering around, finding a job to suit her tastes and eventually, getting tired and tricking people into buying her something she wants. Ah, Nami would be such a grand con artist.
Blue eyes looked up at the sky, quickly looking away due to its brightness. It was a sunny day ... and it was hot as heck. Perspiration started to form on her face, Nami quickly wiping it away. Ah, she wanted to find a fan - or better yet! Someone to fan her! Oh, that would be grand indeed. Moving away from the warm corner she was in, she started moving down past the streets and into a place where shops were abundant. Not really the marketplace though it was a few ways off from there. There were a whole lot of people, though, some with children, some with friends, most of them seemingly hot, carrying fans and umbrellas and a quiet few about ready to kill someone.
It was a hot day in Rukongai indeed and moving through the crowd of people was getting on Nami's nerves. "Ahh dammit. It's so hot," she mumbled, pushing away people - mostly adults who didn't really know what hit them to make room for herself. She didn't need to complain for long for some time during her little walk, she found a crowd - not exactly thick though not thin either. It was enough for her to move through them - driven by curiosity to see what was going on.
Now, she could already hear shouts of 'YOU b*****d' and 'TAKE THIS!' as she moved along but as soon as she was in the front, ready to see the action, she found a sandal thrown at her face ... and being hit by it. Squarely in the face, at that.
"AH!" she shouted, people behind her quickly moving away. Picking up the sandal from the ground after rubbing her face where she was hit, she gave a glare to the two men in front of her, caught in a brawl. She was not at all scared. Stomping over to them, sandal in hand, she furiously threw it at one man - the brunette - hitting him in the back of his head. Payback. Hey, she could see he lacked a sandal. "You idiot! What the heck are you doing throwing your sandal to a girl?!"
He could have cared less she was a girl, much less young for the man walked over to her, towering over her ... by a foot. Looking up at him, Nami knew she was no match but she kept her cool ... until he started shouting at her about 'respect' and all that crap. Pssh. As if she cared.
"Haaa? You were the one who threw that at me, you b*****d!" she shouted, hands on her hips. "Coward! Coward coward coward!"
Why, yes, Nami was just asking for it.

For what seemed to be the tenth time today, Makoto reaffirmed his opinion about how a hot day like this should be illegal. He knew that he couldn’t do anything about it, but the heat was becoming increasingly unbearable and annoying--no, annoying would be an understatement. It was intolerable, very much so, and he was starting to wonder if it would be a good idea to ask his employer if he could take the day off, or at least, wait until the temperature becomes more agreeable.
”Ah...Should we stop for now, Akiha-kun?” the familiar voice of his employer said as the two of them dropped the items by the shop, ”Working in this kind of heat isn’t good for your health.”
Makoto couldn’t agree more with the elderly spirit, though he simply nodded in response to the suggestion. He’d never been a particularly animated person.
”Then I’ll go back to the house and get something for us to drink,” the old man continued, ”Come by the house later, alright?”
The brunet nodded again, lingering for a few moments as he watched his employer leave before setting off on his own. He needed to find some shade, and preferably something cold to drink. There should be a store selling the latter just around the corner...
"You idiot! What the heck are you doing, throwing your sandal to a girl?!"
Makoto stopped in his tracks and turned to look at the crowd of people nearby, where the source of the voice presumably was. After contemplating it for a few moments, he decided to join the crowd, pushing past the people to get a better look at whatever was happening. ’Seems like a fight,’ he thought, though he was sort of wondering why said fight was seemingly between a little girl and a grown man.
”...Isn’t it a bit sad for a grown man to be fighting a little girl like that?” the brunet nonchalantly blurted out, seemingly unfazed by how the crowd’s attention suddenly turned towards him. He didn’t realize that he’d just said that loud enough for practically everyone around him to hear...until the man turned his attention from the blonde girl to him.
Well, it wasn’t as if this was the first time his tendency to be too blunt got him into some sort of trouble.
”Sad, you say?” the man replied through grit teeth, anger clearly pictured in his voice, ”This shrimp here was asking for a fight! She called me an idiot, and a b*****d, and a--”
”Ah, then you’re obviously not very mature yourself,” Makoto nonchalantly cut in, commenting in a matter-of-factly tone and disregarding how the man was standing a full five inches taller than him--and since when was the guy standing in front of him? Where did the crowd around him go--oh.
Everyone had stepped back when he didn’t notice, it seemed. Now he was standing in the middle of the crowd, face-to-face with the fuming man.
Perhaps he should start considering cutting back on his bluntness a little.

Nami hated people looking down on her even when they're adults. Her pride is huge, that much is certain and she absolutely hates it when someone thinks they're better than her. Because, apparently, she's the best and she wouldn't have anyone outdoing her now, would she? Which explains her earlier actions. Well, that and she wouldn't allow anyone to just hit her like that albeit it was done accidentally but still! She was hit! That was just unacceptable!
But, apparently, someone to pin the blame on was.
”...Isn’t it a bit sad for a grown man to be fighting a little girl like that?”
Nami looked behind her to see a man older than her, his hair red and his eyes some sort of color near red. His hair was held up by a pink ribbon, sort of transparent she could see ... how she wanted to pull that. Her head told her to, common sense told her not to. Then again, Nami often didn't listen to her common sense. Taking a closer look at him, he didn't really seem all that strong. No ... He really didn't, did he, which disappointed Nami by just a bit. After all, this was a fight! She doubted he was going to win like that.
Turning back to the man she was shouting at, she put her hands on her hips and said, "Ah, what he said! You're a sad, pathetic man, you ... pathetic man, you!" She really isn't trying - at all, at that - to make him hate her.
Rushing over behind the man with the ribbon [while the burlier man was distracted by said person she was hiding - she wasn't hiding! - behind], she pushed him towards the burlier man and said, "Go get him! Go! Fight!" In all truth, she really was just wanting to watch a fight.

Somehow, Makoto wasn't to surprised to see the girl immediately hide behind him while still calling the man names. The little blonde looked like the spoiled type, and spoiled little girls always do whatever's in their best interests--oh, look, now she was pushing him towards the taller man and cheering for a fight. Why wasn't he surprised any bit?
"Actually, you're a lot more pathetic than he is," the brunet calmly stated, glancing at the girl hiding behind him. "Hiding behind someone else to protect yourself...Even if you're just a little girl, it's still not a very responsible thing to do."
It was silent for a moment before the burly man suddenly burst out laughing. "You hear him, kid?" he gleefully said, directing his words to the blonde, "You're the pathetic one, not me!"
Makoto sighed quietly. How did he get surrounded by immature idiots like these two? "No, you're both pathetic," he nonchalantly stated, though there was a hint of exasperation in his voice.
"...What did you say?!"
"Are you deaf? I said 'pathetic'." He frowned slightly. "You're just an immature old man," he continued, seemingly not realizing that he was simply adding fuel to the fire. "And you're just a spoiled little coward." the brunet calmly added, directing his words to the girl hiding behind him. "Now stop hiding and be mature, you little brat. What makes you think I'll fight for you, anyway?" He turned to face the much shorter girl. "I'm not your servant."
There. He'd said what he wanted to say. Perhaps it would get him into even more trouble; the girl looked like she was going to be more of a hassle than the burly man, though the latter seemed more...dangerous, perhaps, although he also seemed less intelligent.
Well. It wasn't as if he's siding with either of them. Might as well ready himself to go against both the girl and the man.

"Actually, you're a lot more pathetic than he is."
He called her pathetic! The - The b*****d! He was going to pay! Somehow ... Once she thinks of a plan. Looking up at him, giving him a glare, she said, "I'm not hiding behind you! I'm making you fight him, you idiot!" And provide a distraction so she can hit the man ... or make him do it for her. Whichever works. She wanted payback, after all, not to run away. Wasn't that the reason she shouted against him in the first place?
"Oh, shut up, you! You're pathetic, too!" she shouted, pointing at the burly man with a scowl on her face. And no, she did not just notice she technically affirmed the redhead's statement in regards to her being pathetic. Said redhead, however, corrected the burly man and said something about his being pathetic ... their being pathetic.
"C-Coward?!" she shouted, upon hearing the word. "I'm not a coward! Or spoiled! I'm perfectly mature!" She said, giving a smirk and closing her eyes, crossing her arms in front of her for effect. That's when she remembered. Opening her eyes, she shouted, flailing her arms, "I'm not little! You're just tall! You're making fun of me! Shut up, you stupid servant!" Nami ... has issues. And a superiority complex.
"I'll show you I'm not a coward!" she shouted, stomping off to the burly man. "Oi, you, pathetic idiot! Give me your other sandal so I can throw it at you - WAH!"
She had tripped, landing face-first on the ground. On someone.
"Ow... What the heck?" she mumbled, standing upright and brushing off the dirt on her kimono. Nami looked down, only to see a man the burly one was fighting against earlier. Looked pretty lanky to her and none too happy at what had happened, standing up and looking about ready to kill someone. He was probably pissed not only due to that but because he was ignored for the most part.
"Little brat ... Who said you can trip on me, huh?!"
That made Nami run back to the redhead, behind him. "I'm not hiding, by the way," she added, for good measure, seeing the other two coming towards them. Didn't she just say she was going to prove herself not a coward?

As he watched the little blonde deny how she was a coward and a spoiled brat, Makoto couldn't help but let out a sigh and shake his head slightly. The girl was way too obnoxious for her own good. Not to mention how she seemed to have some sort of superiority complex, what with her calling him her 'servant' and everything. He didn't even know who the brat was! Why should he be--
Oh, look, she got herself into another trouble and was hiding behind him once again. And to think that she denied being a coward just a few seconds ago. How ironic.
"You're obviously hiding," Makoto calmly stated, matter-of-factly. Ignoring the two men who were looming in front of him, he turned to face the blonde standing behind him--she was the main problem here, not the two men she'd somehow roused into getting mad at her. "Coward." A rare slight smirk tugged on his lips as he stared directly into the girl's blue eyes. The blonde was pretty much asking to be teased, anyway.
At that, he stepped aside, therefore getting out of the two men's way. "She's all yours," he lightly said, nodding at the girl, "I don't have anything to do with this, except for the part where I called you--" He looked at the burly man. "--immature and pathetic."
"Hey! I'm not immature and pathetic!"
The lanky man burst into laughter. "The boy here knows you pretty well, doesn't he?"
"Technically, I--"
"What did you say?!" the burly man crankily said, turning towards the lankier spirit. "You're the immature and pathetic one!"
"Hey!"
"...Don't even know the guy," Makoto quietly continued as he watched the two men start to fight with each other, sighing at the sight. Honestly, they were so immature for their physical age...
...And speaking of immature, there was still one more person he had to take care of.
Calmly, he turned his attention towards the blonde girl standing a few steps away from him. 'How troublesome...' he quietly thought, wondering when he would be able to finish this and get a drink somewhere.

Nami was looking behind him, not caring in the least he was blocking her view of the two in front of them. Then again, he stepped sideways, completely revealing her location. A surprised look came over her face, turning over to the two men just a few ways near them. What the heck? He betrayed her, betrayed her! She shot a glare at him, watching him speak about something immature and pathetic, capturing the attention of the men in front of them. Hah. And they keep calling her immature. They were fighting now, shouting words at each other, slowly getting near one another, ignoring Makoto's words and eventually, getting into a fistfight once again. And they were ignoring her.
"What the heck?" she muttered, mostly to herself at the scene in front of her. She wasn't done yet! She hasn't even thrown something at the guy who did to her!
"Oi, you idiot!" she shouted, turning to Makoto and pointing accusingly at him. "This is all your fault I was ignored so you have to make up for it!" Honestly, she was just really looking for someone to shift her annoyance to.

For a moment, Makoto thought that he'd avoided a part of the trouble he'd been faced with, since the two men had started to fight amongst themselves. He started to back away from the brawl slowly, wanting to leave as soon and discreetly as possibly before--
"Oi, you idiot! This is all your fault I was ignored, so you have to make up for it!"
--exactly that happened.
Letting out a sigh, the brunet stopped and turned his attention to the blonde girl, who was pointing oh-so-accusingly at him. Calmly, he approached the girl, his expression nonchalant, though if one paid attention enough, you could see the hints of a scowl tugging on his lips. The little blonde was turning out to be a lot more annoying than he'd thought.
"First of all," he started once he was standing in front of the girl, "I am not an idiot." The brunet stared straight into the girl's blue eyes, a mixture of a rather out-of-place nonchalance and annoyance in his eyes. "Second, it is rude to point at someone like that. He pushed the blonde's hand aside. "Did nobody teach you that?" Makoto added with a slightly mocking tone. "And third, I don't see why it is my fault that the two men from before ended up ignoring you, so I don't think I have to make up for anything." A pause. "Now if you'll excuse me, I should be going back to the house, not taking care of a brat like you."
At that, he calmly walked past the girl, determined to ignore whatever the girl decides to do...as long as she doesn't do anything too annoying.

He was nearing her. Oh god he was nearing her! Well, she wasn't really cowering, really. After all, what could he do? Oh. Talk. Talk like he was teh freakin king of the world. Nami scowled the entire time he was talking to her like she was some little kid with no manners. Now, the latter part was true ... much more than she'd like to admit to herself but she absolutely hated - hated - being treated like a child. And he was talking all nonchalantly! He was supposed to be annoyed, annoyed! She loved annoying people though hated it being returned to her. And when he pushed her hand away, she was annoyed even more, her eyes narrowing, opening her mouth though shutting it once again when he continued speaking like there was no tomorrow. Every single time she wanted to speak, he did. Freakin b*****d.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I should be going back to the house, not taking care of a brat like you."
"Pfff, I don't need to be taken care of!" she shouted back at him, turning behind her and shouting at his back. Wait. Did he just say he had a house?
Nami ran off, slowing to a walk beside him, curiosity clear in her eyes though she was trying hard to not let it show on her entire face. "You have a house? Do you have food?" If that didn't scream 'take me!' she didn't know what would.

At this point in time, Makoto was convinced that he was doomed to have this little brat following him around for the rest of the day. To think that the girl who was now walking beside him had been yelling at him a few minutes ago. Oh, look, and she was also asking for food. What the heck was she, a parasite or something?
"...It's my employer's house, technically," he finally began after a few moments' consideration. "He allows me to live there as some sort of payment for my work."
His attention then turned towards a familiar building in the distance. Stopping in front of the door, Makoto knocked on it several times, waiting patiently until the door slid open, revealing the owner of the house.
"Ah, I was wondering where you'd gone off to, Akiha-kun," the elderly spirit amicably said. "What have you been up to, boy?"
"...Almost got caught in a fight."
The old man let out a hearty laugh. "As long as you're not injured, then it's all well and good, hmm?" He then turned his attention to the blonde girl. "And who might you be, miss?"
"She's the brat who almost got me involved in a fight," Makoto calmly stated in a matter-of-factly tone, sparing the girl a quick, somewhat cold glance as he spoke.
"A feisty little lady, I presume?" the spirit commented, his tone showing that he meant no offense. "Well, we can hear about the rest of your story inside, hmm?" Slowly, he turned and led the two inside. "I have some tea and sweets prepared already."

"...It's my employer's house, technically,"
"Ah, so you're a leech," she said, almost without any thought. Okay, it was void of any thought and she didn't even bother correcting herself or at least say something. Oh, no, she was completely convinced what she said was normal. Completely normal. And she wasn't even bothering to listen to him say something about 'his employer lets him live there' or anything. She didn't even catch the 'employer's house' bit earlier so why should she bother with the remaining bits of his sentence? And she was so bold to continue following him, too, the little idiot.
The man stopped in front of a house, knocking on the door until an old man came out to greet them. He [the older man] mentioned his name as 'Akiha-kun' or at least referred to him as such. He asked how Akiha-kun's day went and she listened. Okay, she didn't. She was actually trying to peer into the house to see what it was like. After all, it wasn't like she had ever been in a proper house.
"And who might you be, miss?"
She looked up at the older man and said, "Risika Nami. Ah, hello -"
Akiha-kun cut her off. Idiot. Nami threw a scowl at him before turning her attention at the words 'sweets', 'tea' and 'prepared'. Her eyes practically brightened at the new found piece of information, a grin forming on her lips. "Well, then if you don't mind~!" she said, boldly stepping into the house after taking off her sandals, following the older man into the house.

As the blonde--Nami, was it?--calmly walked past him and followed his employer into the house, Makoto couldn't help but sigh for what seemed to be the tenth time today before going into the house as well. The girl really had no manners and shame. It was a good thing his employer was a rather kind and lenient person--too kind, perhaps, but it wasn't his place to criticize. Other people would've probably kicked the girl out for trespassing the moment she took a step past the door.
"Ah, nice to meet you, Risika-chan," the elderly spirit amicably continued as he led the two to the living room. "My name's Takada Shuudou." He then turned his attention to Makoto. "Have you introduced yourself yet, Akiha-kun?"
The brunet was silent for a moment before answering. "...No, I don't believe so," he candidly replied a few moments later, "But perhaps--"
"Well, now that won't do," the old man calmly cut in, turning his attention back to Nami soon thereafter. "He's Akiha Makoto," he casually stated, oblivious to the look of exasperation in the brunet's face; if possible, Makoto had wanted the troublesome blonde not to know his name, so that she wouldn't look for him in the future or something of the sort.
'Ah well,' he quietly thought, letting out a sigh of resignation as he followed his employer into the room and sat by the table, where a pot of tea and two empty cups had been placed, 'At least I won't be facing the girl alone...I hope.'
"Well, I'm going to go get the sweets and another empty cup from the kitchen, so go on and help yourselves to the tea," the elderly spirit lightly said before leaving.
Makoto sincerely hoped he wouldn't be gone for long. Getting stuck with Nami wasn't a particularly appealing situation.

"Nice to meet you, too, Shuudou jii-san!" she said, bowing a bit before the elderly before looking over towards who she was introduced to as Makoto. She looked at him with uninterested eyes before raising her hand and putting it down quickly, saying, "You, too, I guess." Well, she certainly wasn't going to bow for someone who chided her just a few moments ago. Her pride wouldn't allow it.
She entered into a room Shuudo-san lead them into, admiring her surroundings. It really had been long since she went into a house. Usually, she stayed in inns, not liking how most people treated her like a child when they offered for her to stay and those kind of people were rare. Soul Society, after all, was crowded enough as it is and that meant the houses were as well. Families were many with a lot of members in the households. Nami didn't want to share with a lot of people.
She sat on the tatami mat across Makoto, nodding at Shuudou-san while he went to get an empty cup from the kitchen. "Ahhh it seems nice here~" she said, stretching her arms in the air before placing them on the table, her head resting on it as well. She lifted her head only to rest her chin on the wooden furniture, taking a cup with her outstretched arms and saying, "Oiii Makoto-kun! Pour some tea for me!" She really did have no shame.

When Nami calmly ordered him to pour her some tea, it was all Makoto could do not to smack his forehead right then and there. This girl was really obnoxious and shameless, especially considering how she was merely a guest at the house. Still, the brunet merely let out a displeased grumble in response as he went on to snatch the cup out of the girl's hand, setting it in front of him and filling it with tea. "Here," he halfheartedly said, pushing the cup back towards the blonde.
"Ojii-chan, I'm back!" a childish, cheerful voice suddenly chimed, followed by the sound of a door sliding open and small, rapid footsteps. "Ojii-chan?" The door leading to the living room abruptly slid open, revealing a little girl with short, black hair wearing a red kimono. "Ah, Makoto-chan!" she happily exclaimed, running across the room and leaping to hug the brunet, "You're here, too!"
"Akemi, please, behave," Makoto calmly said, trying to restrain the little girl so that she wouldn't hit the table and cause everything on top of it to spill or fall, "We have a guest."
At that, the little girl's attention instantly turned to Nami, whom she stared at for a few seconds before she approached her. With a look of curiosity in her jet-black eyes, Akemi touched the blonde's hair, lips forming a small 'o' shape as she did. "Your hair is so pretty, nee-chan!" she candidly said, beaming at Nami, "And it's so...yellow! I don't see yellow hair often."

A pleased smile crossed her lips as the brunette took her cup and poured tea in it albeit grumbling something she couldn't quite catch. She was glad though; he was finally learning his place! Oh, that was terrific! The smile continued to show even after she took the cup, without a hint of thanks at that. She merely said, "Good!", before taking said cup to her lips and taking a sip. Ahh, it tasted so good.
A childish voice rang, a bit far away though not too much. She heard a door sliding open, a young girl with short, black hair coming in. Nami's gazed moved to the girl as soon as she opened the door to the living room, Makoto calling her Akemi. What was with little kids and their names starting with an 'a'? And she was hugging him! What the heck, he was actually liked? Nami couldn't even begin to fathom why.
When Nami raised her eyes, she saw the girl's own ones directed at her. She blinked. What did she want?
"Your hair is so pretty, nee-chan!" she said, touching her hair. Now, normally, Nami would have killed whoever just went and touched her hair. Also, she'd normally love anyone who praised her like the kid did.
With a smug smile on her face, "It is, isn't it? It's completely natural, too!" Why, yes, Nami could be very conceited. Taking a sip from the tea, she looked up at the girl and said, "I think we can dye your hair to make it yellow~! Not sure if they have it here though ..."
At that instant, footsteps were heard, revealing it to belong to the old man, a plate of what seemed to be mochi, placing it down on the table in front of them. Eyes sparkling with delight, she took a piece, quickly biting into it. Daifuku. Delicious daifuku. Not long after did she finish the piece when she took another one; that's when the elder decided to speak up.
"So, Risika-chan, where are you staying now?"
Nami looked up at him before gulping down the food in her mouth. "I switch from inn to inn. Idiots keep wanting me to pay," she scoffed, taking another of the marumochi, popping it in her mouth.
