I assume most people remember this game xd I recently watched the Angry Videogame Nerd's review on it (his very first episode back before he got famous) again, and I've been thinking. Since Konami has a (slow) trend to re-do forgotten Castlevania games on newer consoles, would anyone want to see Simon's Quest re-done with the whole Chronicles treatment? If so what would you add/subtract? Personally I'd be content with just the chronicles 1 treatment, the semi 3D was kinda cool but I dunno I'm just a nostalgia buff rofl
First thing I'd change is Simon out of his He-Man hairdo, I'd say the old Barbarian look suits him best, or the BDSM Chronicles suit rofl I notice Simon's look is not quite consistent and tends to change alot. I just wish they stick with one and re-use it more.
Second thing I'd change is maybe to separate towns into a setup like Ecclesia. Have one metroid-vania level, exit, then the map and maybe get rid of the water deaths, would make the game too easier but less cheaper as well plus it wouldn't be consistent since all castlevania games since SOTN doesn't have instant deaths due to falling into the water (except Chronicles games).
Third Thing I do is have the bosses not be an option to fight. Technically you can breeze through most of the bosses and ignore them, get the stuff on the other side and leave. You do have to fight them to get some stuff but it still makes the game quite easier. Plus all Castlevania games except Simon's Quest have closed up areas when fighting a boss.
4th, I'd redesign Dracula to not look like Death from the movie the 7th Seal. Even in the Angry Nerd comments people got confused and thought you were fighting death when clearly you fight him in one of the mansions
5th, add some enemies in Dracula's Castle, the Castle literally bare except for 7th Seal Dracula.
Aside from that, everything's alright biggrin

Draculas-Mistress I would like to see it re-done. I didn't get a chance to play it...and I have not been able to find it online or anything. You can always download an emulator and the rom, and it's availble over at ebay as well as most of the NES library of games xd

I agree with everything you said Jin but I'm afraid you also forgot the tuning up of the Day/Night system. It was pretty awful to see that black message and the action stopping every freaking time that happened; especially after a long while! Ecclesia has an understanding of night and day but you only see it when you equip an accessory, Kinda like it was in SotN with the build in clock and similar accessories. And yeah, other than that it should be fine however they make it. I personally would not mind whether they did it as a 2.5D game or as a 2D game. I wouldn't care either way as long as the instant deaths for falling into water were removed (like you pointed out). Well, that and the invisible pit falls like Ariadyne mentioned. It was so much better on SotN when you only gradually lost HP after getting in the water. 3nodding Also, I would like it if the music was done in a similar way to Ecclesia. What do I mean by this? Obviously, I would like to see a system menu and being able to switch the BGM to whichever BGM I liked. Maybe have the ordinary BGM (the one you hear as you play) to be remastered versions of the originals and, the records could be the exact same original midi tunes we used to hear back when we played the original. That would be awesome! 3nodding What does everyone else think?

I said separated into TOWNS like Ecclesia. You know you go thought 1 stage and come out the other end then choose where you wanted to go. from there. In Simon's Quest its all linear, towns magically are below ground and have a sky and there's actually an end to the whole level (where you kneel for the Tornado). For the music I meant give it the Chronicle's style remix. I would love to see how each music is remade with Chronicles remixes.

~*~ | ...und weck mich nie wieder auf! | Basically.... yeah. Take out the cheap-y ways to get oneself killed, like the invisible pitfalls, rivers / bodies of water that have stupidly small bobbing platforms as the only means of crossing them, and the spiked floors in some of the mansions.... Those are pretty much the only things I would love to see *not* come back in a potential Simon's Quest remake.

Yeah, I got the jest of things Jin. 3nodding Good idea! I think they made a great job of separating areas in Ecclesia.
Yes Yuffie, the thing is getting that info to the folks at Konami. Maybe they should try to make remakes as "Wiiware" to see if people would buy them first. You know?
I had almost forgotten about the small platforms on certain bodies of water. Thanks for the reminder Elliot!

I'm with you! I can't get a Wii right now but I want one so badly. Maybe we'll be able to get one someday. Better keep our hopes up! mrgreen You can be sure that the first thing I'm gonna download from the virtual console is CV 3, CV 4 and if I have points left after that, CV 2. 3nodding

I suppose I won't in a long time but I am not THAT interested about it for now. I would be way more interested in remakes or playing the classic games. I'm more of a retro kind of guy and besides, there would still be a chance to play Lords of Shadow later. I'm not exactly the kind to want to play everything as it comes out. Maybe if I was rich, well... you get the picture, right? wink
