I wander the white wilderness. It's cold....so increadibly cold. Never once has there been such a cold winter in my lifetime, let alone a cold summer. My children are barely surviving now, constantly withering from lack of food. I myself have an easily-noticeable ribcage and constantly rumbling stomach. But at least I have enough fur on my body to keep me from being frostbitten, but even then I'd give it all away if it meant that my children were warm and well fed.

It's the human's fault, I think to myself. They're the reason that the 12th iceage came. I sigh, knowing my anger won't solve anything. All the humans are gone now; their furless bodies inable to withstand the freezing torture they brought upon themselves.

Just as the humans, almost all of the Earth's inhabitants have quickly died off. Both myself and my children are probably the last three of the wolves on the planet. My entire pack, including my lover, have gradually died off. It's only by luck that I, so frail at birth, and my children, not even a year old yet, have managed to escape the bitter end so far.

I see something in the distance. Oh my, could it be?? Yes, it's moving, knees buckling from increasing hunger. A buck, large enough to feed myself and my children, yet small enough that it won't kill me.

I sneak in hesitantly. My stomach is growling so loud that I fear that the creature merely meters away will hear it and run. Luckily, he doesn't notice at all.

I dive in for the kill. I quickly sink my fang-like teeth into his back. He tries to get me to let go, but I only sink my teeth in deeper. There's no way I"m letting him get away.

His struggles slow, and eventually stop from lack of blood. I can tell he's dead. "I'm sorry," I say, finally letting go. "It's the only chance I have to feed my children." I feel increadibly guilty. He was probably in the same situation that I am now. Nevertheless, what's done is done, and I can only hope that he accepts my apology when he recieves it in the afterlife.

It hadn't always been like this. There used to be food for everyone, and rarely anyone died from hunger alone. Then the humans started polluting everything. From transportation vehicles to energy sources, they continuously poisoned and destroyed the planet. There had been rumors about the Earth getting hotter, but they ignored it and kept living their selfish lives. Finally, the place the human's called "Antartica" (which ironically has no ants, from what I've heard) toppled into the ocean. This somehow averted the weather, causing this iceage.

But, as I said before, it no longer matters. What's done is done, and karma has had its revenge on the humans. Now, all that matters my children being fed. I take my kill by the neck and, watching carefully for any predators, bring it to my cave.

Short stories are simply stories that end in one chapter ^^ It's nothing about text length or such.
