I called in to let people know I was going to be a little late, and when I showed up a little late, I was fired. It WAS a crappy job, but it was at least a job. They were pretty much looking for a reason to fire some senior employees who were suspected of a huge chain of vandalism having to do with melting the carpet on walls to make designs. The head manager tried being tough and talking tough to individual people, pulling them into his office, and talking in a tough voice to people. But he got no confessions, so there was zero proof, so he legally could do nothing.
He was pretty much looking for the slightest reason to fire me and he's looking at a few other people too, still. So I got fired for being a few minutes late, when I called in to inform them of this anyway. I feel like a steaming pile of worthless s**t.

*hugs* Michael, you know everything I've told you regarding this so far, and Gore summed a lot of that up in her post.
Like I said, it's an opportunity, a blessing in disguise. You need to maintain some of your innate optimism and cheerfulness to find something better.
You know you're not really worthless.
