Hey everyone! I'm just about ready to start off the "Haunted House/Mystery" RP! But, before we begin, some things to help get a feel for what you'll be getting yourselves int-er, I mean, what you should know about the world of the RP! sweatdrop
~~~~ ~{:Genre:}~ Mystery with a touch of fantasy/steampunk. There will be a balance of puzzles, as well as fighting (so some sort of battle readiness should be included in character make-up!), all worked within the mystery.
~{:Setting:}~ Mostly inside and around the Manor located high on a hill some distance from town (they'll be described as we go along in the game). People have talked about the house and it's history, but few actually pay attention to it and simply accept it's presence. Very little is really known about the residents, or much about the house's history, outside of a few social events in it's past.
~{:Time:}~ Think... turn of the century (1890's-1900's).

Abilities: [Yes, the fun stuff. Max 3 different abilities, both for in battle and out of battle (please see the example Sheet). Also, please contact me about any "supernatural" things like magic and things involving the “Race” stat. You'll be earning more of these as we go along in the game.]

~{:How to fight/Use Abilities:}~
Each character is given 15 “points”, these points will be assigned to the stats of Body, Mind and Soul by the players. These stats cannot be changed unless Experience points are given to the player (by the GM) for their stats.
“But Rosen, what are Body Mind and Soul for?”
B, M, and S are the different “Rolls” or “Checks” I’ll be asking your characters to perform in the game using the 2, 6-sided dice. The point of the roll is to get UNDER or EQUAL the number assigned for the stat. So a “2” (min roll) is a Critical Success! YAYZ! While a “12” (max roll) is a Critical Botch! (Oh noz!). Here’s the break down: ~ Body~ is anything that involves a physical action, like jumping, attacking, moving a heavy object, or lifting/pushing another character. ~Mind~ is anything that involves using your senses or thought process, like searching for a light switch, solving a puzzle, or recalling some important information. ~Soul~ is rolled for anything that requires something MORE than Body or Mind, like casting magic, or calling a spirit, or for using physic abilities.
*Note: no Stat in the B/M/S can be listed as less than 2 or more than 12!
How this works: When you want to do something, you post the action of what you want to do.
EX: Jack (Body of 7): “I jump from the railing and grab for the chandelier, hoping to swing across to the window across the room!” -with his post he’ll add the action of rolling 2 6-sided dice.
His roll: 3 and 1 = 4 GM’s discretion: seeing that there are 3 different actions here (Jumping, grabbing and landing), GM will add 1 point for each action onto the total roll, thus giving his total a “7” result. Think of it as keeping things realistic (Worry not, I will NOT abuse this privilege!)
Game Result: He accomplishes the task, but with quite a bit of difficulty along the way, and it looked clumsy.
^ This is basically how major actions will happen. I say “Major” because Jack’s action was pretty out of the norm! When using an ability, the dice-rolling is required, and results typically are successful.

EXAMPLE CHARACTER SHEET!!!!
~{:The Mystery of Constance Hatchaway:}~
~{Nicholi Briar}~
Body: 4 / Mind: 6 / Soul: 5 Sex: Male Age: 24 Height: 5' 10" Weight: 164 lbs. Appearance: Light brown hair, just past shoulder length, tied back. Green eyes. Clean and pretty average all around.
Clothes: A simple shirt without a collar (he finds collars and ties a trivial idea), a striped vest in a dull green, dark brown slacks with suspenders, and tan spats on brown shoes. All topped with a pair of silver specticals.
Bio: A quiet man who often can be found drifting off in hard thought. He's a problem solver, and typically refuses to leave a puzzle unsolved. Oddly he is not a detective as his concentrations are focused mostly on whatever he might fancy across, and he tends to ignore all else while thinking. In otherwords, he suffers from incureable curiousity, and because of this he often finds himself in situations and can't fathom how he got there.
Abilities:
Inspection (Mind)- When given time, he can give detailed amounts of information about a particular item/occurance. The amount of time this takes depends on how big/obscure the subject is. Can also be used to locate traps.
Scan (Mind)- A battle action, his turn is taken with sizing up the opponent, his stats/weaknesses/etc.
Snap (Body)- A "Drunken Fighter" technique used to reflect attacks back to the opponent.
Last Notes: Has a hard time grasping things outside of the logical level (Ghosts/Magic and the like) and will forget to add them as a factor to his puzzle-solving thought process.

Clothing: [White long sleeve button up under shirt, black two button vest with a high stiff collar and paisley design, black tie with a winzor knot, corded black jacket and a fedora]
Bio: [ Eben is all business preferring to keep all his/her relationships in a professional facet only. Would refer to “himself” as a “self made man”. Eben’s life as a investigator came to him quit naturally. Discovery and understanding of life strange mysteries and that of unusual people has influenced him greatly. His parents where pagan immigrants who practiced many rituals any god fairing man would be disgusted with. Their open mindedness allowed Eben to survive through birth. He would later shun his family’s ways and live a life hiding his features and his heritage. ]
[Mind] Abilities: [Mimic: With one turn of study Eben is able to adequately impersonate anyone’s voice, speech patterns and cadence. [Mind] Pyrotechnition: Eben has the uncanny ability to set or contribute to the creation of truly devastating fires. Generally fires are easier for Eben to start and far more difficult to put out. [Soul] Diehard: For a person of his size Eben is able to remain conscious and focused much longer then most. When many would have already circum to there wounds or lack of sleep Eben keeps racing. Using every second as an opportunity to finish business is Eben’s style. ]
Last notes: [Has a very foul mouth when drunk, generally apposed to being touched, has a fascination with unique tools and mannerisms. Fears that anyone would become wise to his physical abnormality and use it to discredit him in social circles, fears his emotional mind will one day take over. Fears he will never truly find a place for himself.]

"Doctor" Rocky Rochonovich Stats: Body(4) Mind (8 ) Soul(3) Sex: Male Age: 30 Race: Human Ht/Wt: 5'11/ 140 Apperance: Blond hair, brown eyes, appears to be confused a lot, facial scars and eyepatch
Clothes: A bowler that (that hardly ever is removed), Regular pair of work pants, white cotton shirt, gray leather jacket with numerous pockets, black "satchel" that he carries his "supplies" in and a pair of very odd boots.
Bio: Doc Roc as his friends call him is a very silly person. His head always seems to be in the clouds thinking up some new "invention". His inventions hardly ever work the way they are supposed to. Other people call him an "engineer" and those who depsie him call him a "mad scientist". His mind never stops so he doesn't sleep well and often seems rather confused.
Mind ablities: (sit and think) if presented with a serious problem, doc can sit and think about it for a few minutes he will be able to figure it out quicker. (see the pattern) for some odd reason doc sees patterns in everything, even if no pattern exists, but if one does exist he will see it's connection to everything. Body ablity: (read other) ever since being achild he has been picked on for being a "book worm". By looking at the way people move he can tell what the first attack will be and usually the ability to dodge it. (read other) works in hand with (see the pattern).
Quirks: Doc is very touchy about the subject of his scars and missing eye. He carries a modified shovel strapped to his back as a weapon, who worries about the guy with the shovel? He has a bunch of other "engineered" weapons but they only work in the intended way about 60% of the time. He seems quite until danger appears then becomes very verbose. His only bad habit is talking in his sleep. He wakes up every couple of hours, jots things down on a notepad next to where he sleeps then goes back to sleep. Anyone who reads his notes can't understand them.

 Name: Kaede Stats: Body: 4 Mind: 7 Soul: 4 Sex: Female Age: 25 Race: Caucasian, Irish Height: 5’ 6’’ Weight: 118lbs Appearance: Short black hair cut in a “pixie” style. Hazel eyes. She is pretty, but doesn’t stand out in a crowd. Clothing: Black pants, tight button up white shirt, black vest, black boots, black gloves, and sometimes a black jacket. She also wears a black gun holster carrying a Colt Peacemaker. Bio: Is a bit of a kleptomaniac, so if she see’s anything shiny she will steal it. She is a professional thief, so she is very good at getting into places she shouldn’t be. She also has a tendency to pick the pockets of those near her. In addition, with her psychometric abilities she is able to tell the value of whatever she is thinking of stealing with just a touch. She is very good at going unnoticed, unless being noticed is part of her distraction. She prefers wearing men’s clothes, but when it is required can dress up very nicely. Abilities: Psychometric [Soul] : Can tell things about people or objects just by touching them. Thief [Body] : Can steal items from people, buildings, wherever. Sharpshooter [Mind] : A very accurate shooter. Last notes: A bit neurotic about cleanliness. Her clothes are always impeccable. She carries around multiple handkerchiefs so that she can wipe of surfaces, or place them on her chair when she is going to sit. She hardly ever takes of her gloves. And although many people think it is because she doesn’t want to get her hands dirty, it is also because she is trying to avoid the images she gets whenever she touches something.

Body: 5 / Mind: 2 / Soul: 8 Sex: female Age: unknown Height: 4'0” (121.92 cm) Weight: 88 lbs (39.92 kg) Appearance: [x] dark hair which hangs about her shoulders in loose curls, large, dark eyes, and pale, pearlescent skin Clothes: a long, blood-stained nightshirt, but nothing else, not even a pair of shoes or socks
Biography: Ellie is vampire whose entire existence revolves around her hunger for human blood.
Abilities: Agility (Body) – She can move much faster than a human. She can even climb on walls and ceilings like a spider. Sixth Sense (Soul) – She can sense, see, and speak with spirits, although she sometimes fails to realize that they're spirits. Hypnosis (Soul) – She can plant thoughts into people's minds and make them think whatever she wants them to think.
Last Notes: Ellie has no personality of her own. On any given day, she can be an an innocent child or a bloodthirsty monster, depending on which would benefit her the most.
