Lately, we've been talking about bringing new members into The Family through recruiting. It's a great idea, but I propose we take it a step further. Now, whenever you hear someone whining about the current state of the ED, one of the main reasons given for decline is, inevitably, n00bs. And, yes, there are too many damn n00bs in the ED, and I won't dance around that. However, every once in a while you'll see a newbie with potential. I don't know about you, but I get a warm fuzzy feeling from seeing someone in peasant clothes making a great post or topic. Therefore, I say we snatch those people up and invite them to join our guild. Here, we can teach them the ways of the Mafia, thereby improving ED and our guild simultaneously. I've already tried to bring one new ED patron with promise into the mafia, and I propose that as a guild we all actively work towards the improvement of ED's newbies. What say you?

Well, I think we can all agree that we were once newbies, too. However, one of the defining qualities of the bad ones are the ones that haven't put on ANY clothing yet. Me, I saw 500 gold and bought myself a blue flame shirt, blue flame pants, a blue snow cap, and elf shoes. ^_^ Never did that whole rag thing...

I remained naked for some time upon my arrival. I wasn't about to start with cheap crap, my body develops a rash from such.

Ahh, my secret lesbian wife, welcome to that which is not wholly devoid of intelligent thought, the ED-Mafia.

DonAbbatecola Ahh, my secret lesbian wife, welcome to that which is not wholly devoid of intelligent thought, the ED-Mafia. Thank you, thank you. It's my pleasure to be here. I mean, what, with all these fine folks, how can this NOT be a fabulous guild?
Of course it'll be a success, as the reading rainbow guild is.
I do have to say, there is nary an intelligent topic that I've posted that had passed 50 pages. And these are topics I worked on. For quite a while. It hardly seems worth it-- The effort I put to make original topics, because it just seems like people A) never read the post and B) Just. Don't. Get. It.
It's like... They want to be seen as stupid. So they post in 'Cheese, good or bad' and 'ROFL, Ed is kewl!'
Yargh. People don't appreciate intelligent writing.

Fugly? I'm insulted! crying For 500g, I rather liked it... still do, in fact. I still have the stuff.

I pretty much knew the sort of stuff I was going to get straight off. I based my entire account off of the character I am while performing. Add the guitar in my sig, and my avi looks quite a bit like me in the getup. Cept I don't have a jacket. I use one of those long-sleeved shirts with the collar. I don't fold the collar back and I leave all the buttons open. And the locket is actually a guitar pick pendant that I bought at an Eric Clapton concert last summer.
But that's not what's being discussed.
How long is a person really considered a newbie, anyway? Until they get an outfit? I think it might be a better idea to stalk their posts for a little bit and see if it's really worth letting them in. A person can have one good idea, and then be unintelligent the rest of the time.

I was stuck in a black hot top and brownie basic skirt with reindeer hooves for so long...GAH. Thankfully, im reasonably wealthy now, and my shwag has improved greatly.
I dunno if some noobs are well-versed enough to clean up ED though...most aren't familiar with the stickies and don't know the ropes.

When I first got here... I got sick of the peasant thingy pretty quick. Other then that, I don't remember anything from my newbie days (though I was able to dive right into ED just fine. However, I did read the stickies).
*waves meekly* I'm new.
