Actually, I own both world painted blood and endgame.
Those two are both better than Death Magnetic.

I also own the high end of low, but that doesent involve in the big 4 of thrash metal.

Personally the best release this year to me was Shadows Fall "Retribution".

Metal has like, over 20 different subgenres though. Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, etc. etc.

Rammstein would fall into Industrial Metal, which does borrow certain things from Techno music.

That's what makes "Metal" as a whole so awesome. So you shouldn't just pigeon hole it as one type of sound. I mean, just listen to classic Heavy Metal like Black Sabbath in the 1970s, and compare it to what Metal has become today, like Cannibal Corpse. There's a HUGE difference in sound.
