Tilt. Sway. Step. Balance. Turn. Wobble. Step a few times. Balance. Giggle.
Yoko had a pleasant smile on her face as she exited her favorite bar. Her cheeks had darkened a bit and her eye was slightly glassed over. But her smile was her biggest give-away. She looked silly. It was an interesting grin, broad yet no teeth showed. It was also uneven, as if she couldn't manage to control all the muscles properly. So it was kinda off.
Hiccup.
Yoko revisited the taste in her mouth by smacking her tongue and mouth loudly before giggling more. "Bitter," she commented to a passerby, who then quickly walked off as if he hadn't heard her. Even though the reason for the action was probably because he had heard her. Yoko yawned. With nothing to do she wondered why more people didn't enjoy the sake at all hours of the day.
Their loss. Yoko spun around unevenly and stumbled and then swayed, "weeee!" she giggled. Captain had always commented that the serious, conniving Yoko seemed to vanish into a little girl when she was exposed to spirits. The crew said that Yoko must be possessed by a child with the drink.
Yoko just enjoyed the light feeling.
She wobbled a bit more. Taking a few steps she felt dizzy and swayed a bit more as her head whirled. Everyone was keeping their distance, and Yoko didn't mind, but she thought of how nice it would be to lean against someone for support just as her stomach joined her head.
She giggled more.
Then she spotted her, a pink Sakura kimono and long black hair. A girl that was just there starting intently at something.
"I'sorry" Yoko slurred, before putting a hand on the girls shoulder, "bu' I needs to be grounded." She slowly let her feet out from under her until she was well on the ground and leaning against this girl. "Thanks miss," Yoko yawned, not even thinking to wonder whether this girl was really a girl or not....

Kaede had only been up for an hour or two, having spent the early hours of the morning walking around the dark streets until he finally went home and managed to sleep peacefully. Now he was up and about again, having always found a secret pleasure in just walking around aimlessly. He liked to step back from his place in the world and just observe others, it was something that let him see himself and others clearly. The drunks, the children and the doting mothers who were always checking for their children. The world was such a mosaic that there was always something new to see.
He wasn't paying attention as he drifted past the bar and stopped to observe a few things at a stall someone had set up nearby. It had been a while since he had bought something for himself because he was awfully reserved with money when Nami wasn't trying to squeeze some out of him.
He pressed a finger to his bottom lip as he scanned the trinkets, idly making comments to the seller. Maybe that nice butterfly broach...
He blinked when the smell of stale alcohol permeated the air and turned to stare at the rather inebriated woman leaning heavily against him. He looked concerned, then confused when she thanked him. "Uhm.." He murmured, looking helplessly at the stall owner. "Miss...? Would you like me to escort you home?" He asked, rather sure she did not know up from down in her current state.

"Naw," Yoko hiccuped before giggling more, "Ooo shiny..." She suddenly moved from her position against the girl to look at the display before them. Swaying on her knees, she approached the booth and began to touch, hold, and examine all the trinkets displayed. Picking up a butterfly one Yoko turned to hold it up to the girl she had just ran into, "Butterfly," she giggled before gasping, "Hey!" she exclaimed suddenly, "There is a butterfly on your cheek too! You should buy this!" She giggled, "Pretty butterfly on a pretty girl is pretty" She chanted, almost like a song.
Needless to say, Yoko's sense of logic flew out the window while she was drunk.

Kaede would have face palmed, if it was not viewed as impolite to do so. He simply smiled benignly at Yoko. He was being patient with her, mainly because he knew this was the alcohol talking and not Yoko herself. He sighed in slight relief when she moved, having been afraid to do much in case she sent them both tumbling to the ground. How on earth was he going to get her home though? He couldn't just leave her like this! and she certainly wasn't going back to the bar.
"Uhm..b-be careful.." He murmured, placing his hands on her shoulders to steady her. Last thing they needed was her crashing onto the table. He was glad she hadn't tried to stand up completely, but even on her knees she seemed unsteady. He nodded, chuckling a little thinly when she held up the trinket. Why did drunk people make others nervous?
Because they weren't in their right sense, thus, they were unpredictable.
A drunk stranger was worse, apparently.
"Okay...but you should know...I'm a male." Kaede murmured, rather sick of the confused glances people kept sending him every time Yoko said 'girl' in reference to him. He carefully slid his hands under her armpits and hoisted her to her feet, careful to keep her steady. "Lean on me, do you know where you live?" He asked, giving the stall owner the money for the butterfly broach.

Yoko blinked and for a moment it registered that she should probably appologize. However the haze in her mind kept this wonderful thought from getting from its creation point to Yoko's body as she gasped and instead choose to put her hands on the guys chest in attempt to see if there was anything to grab. "No kid- *hic* ing." She giggled, "You're a pretty guy." she slurred, "too bad." she murmured, "I dun like little boys."
The boy then lifted her up, Yoko winced as her head spun more but being lifted up higher suddenly. She grabbed her head. It was her own fault for getting low grade booze and she knew it, but it didn't register at the moment. All she could think of was blurted out of her mouth the moment she thought it: "Ow." since it did hurt.
He asked where she lived and she tilted her head before replying in the most serious tone she had while drunk "But I don't like little boys, so why would I take you home?"

Kaede stayed still as she patted his chest, feeling mightily uncomfortable at her observation of him. He frowned, feeling he should have been offended by it. "I'm not a boy." He murmured in protest, gently grabbing her wrists and peeling them off of his chest. What was she saying? That if he had been a girl she would have hit it? What was with the 'too bad'?
He held onto her when she grabbed her head, feeling suddenly bad. He shifted and slung one of her arms around his shoulders, keeping her supported. "I'm sorry."[.b] He apologised, peering at her to make sure she was okay before he hurriedly attached the butterfly broach to his obi to prevent it being lost.
He stared at her, dumbfounded at her words. He frowned when the stall owner snickered behind his hand and sighed. "I mean I want to help you home. Not that I want you to...to...take me home. You're too drunk to stand on your own, let alone navigate to your house." Great, he was having to explain his good intentions to her.

"Buh there is nothin' to do at home." Yoko whined, before perking up. There was a small boy playing hopscotch and he was smiling and looking happy. Yoko pointed at the sight, "I want to do that!" She informed the boy who had taken to attempting to help her. Didn't he knew she was used to this?
She attempted to wiggle away and go towards the boy. Her balance was slightly better, but she didn't have enough to fully get away with her arm over his shoulder.
That was when Yoko's stomach growled. "Tehe," she giggled and covered her stomach, "Looks like I'm hungry!" She pointed up and then out, "Food, young escort boy who looks like a girl!"

"You need to sleep this drink off, even if just a little." Kaede said, sighing quietly at Yoko. She was completely gone on alcohol and he still didn't want to leave her alone when she was like this. He watched the child playing hopscotch and smiled a little. That was nice.
"What--?" He asked, startled from his thoughts by her sudden declaration of wanting to play hopscotch. He held on to her to make sure she couldn't, knowing she might disorientate herself. He'd been drunk plenty enough times to know what happened before, during and afterwards. Would she suffer with a horrible hangover like most did? Or was she the type to walk it off?
Kaede stared down down at Yoko when she spoke, sighing in an exasperated way. "Fine, fine. What would you like to eat?" He asked. Geeze. Was this all he was good for when it came to helping out people?

"Fish." Yoko explained, using her free arm to fish in her obi. She handed the guy her change, "You hol' dat." she explained. Some rational part of her mind was beginning to realize she may need the help after all. She then took a step foreword and began to make her way to the place that made a good grilled squid. Plus with the boy holding her change, she could hold not only one, but two squid. A grin grew on her mouth as she thought of the wonderfullness of that prospect. "On Ward!" she declared.

"Fish, okay." Kaede answered, looking a little perplexed. He didn't know where a place that sold nice fish dishes. He knew a place that sold nice Okinamiyaki though. But if Yoko wanted fish, then he'd have to find a place that sold it. He peered around them, still keeping hold of her when she shoved her change at him.
He blinked at her, then followed, looking concerned. "Uhm...where are we going?" He asked, making sure to keep close enough to her that if she needed to lean on him, then she could. He was too worried about her right now, but inebriated people were easily swayed.

"Get fish." Yoko explained, "dere is th's great place with grilled squid." She was beginning to sober up a bit. Due to her repeated exposure to the substance Yoko had also gained the ability to relieve herself of being drunk faster than normal. Losing her buzz was annoying, but at times it was helpful.
She turned the street into an ally way and her head spun slightly. She leaned against the wall and could almost feel the boy trying to help, "I'm fine." she assured him. She didn't like being babied. She continued down the path slowly, trying to keep her balance. She giggled, this was fun.
Turning another corner Yoko decided to spin instead, thinking that if her body spun, her head might not. Applied the theory seemed to work, but when she stopped her head hurt more. She tried her best not to show it though as she walked up to a food cart and sat down under the curtain. Yoko waved the boy over "Boy I dun know your name buh you half my purse." she explained.

"Oh." Kaede answered. He liked squid. He smiled, brightening a little at the thought of eating one of his favourite foods, even if it was with a drunk woman. She seemed to be getting better though. He took a couple of steps back upon realising that the other's balance was slightly better, now no longer afraid that she would kiss the floor unexpectedly.
He followed her, frowning when she disorientated herself. He stopped himself from helping when she spoke, nodding a little. "Just...take it easy?" He suggested in an unsure tone.
He stared at Yoko, just letting her do her thing. Drunks really weren't predictable. He slowly made his way to the cart when she beckoned him over, taking a seat next to her. "My name is Kaede." He answered, ordering some squid, then he handed her her purse back.

"De usual!" She giggled to the shop keep as she took her purse back. She placed the proper payment in front of the cook and turned to Kaede, "I'm Yoko." she explained and wrote her name "I'm not a good child, I'm an ocean child" she explained as she drew the characters giggling.

Kaede sat, leaning forward to rest his elbow on the table-like area of the cart, resting his chin in the hand of the propped up arm. He turned his gaze to Yoko, directing it down to her name. An ocean child? He looked thoughtful. So she was born by the sea? A fisherman's daughter, A portside Mayor's daughter? Or at sea? A merchant or a pirate? By looking at her and taking in the eyepatch, he guessed pirate. He gently took the pen from her and wrote his name down.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Kaede." He greeted, writing the characters for his name down. He inhaled the smell of the food, his stomach suddenly growling. He was that hungry? He'd not really noticed before.

"This food is nos-tali-gic" She sniffed the grilling smell. "Den again, dat's the only reason to eat here isn tit?" She laughed. It was a sad laugh. Her mind had cleared a bit more, and her eyes were less glazed, "I guess being drunk can fool ya into thinking you need food." She told the boy, "You forget you're dead along wi' everything else."
The boy had followed her all this way, and since she was sobering up a bit, she noticed that he hadn't needed to follow her, "So what do you do? Sit around like me?" She asked the boy, her speech clearing up.
