Chapter Two

~One week later~

The sun had hidden at least an hour ago and the moon glazed the sky with it's beams. Jay sat against the cool wall of the school, tracing stars and hearts in the gritty dirt the was scattered beside and underneath her feet. Her other hand was occupied keeping her jacket as tight as possible around her thin figure, to try and fight off some of the cold that was nipping at her skin. She was unable to keep her legs covered, which were bare from where her skirt ended and her socks started, and goose bumps had infested the space. Finally, a figure appeared from the lit room of the school and started towards Jay. Jay stood abruptly, brushing the dirt from her finger and skirt as Dez approached.
"Why are you still here?" Dez asked, smirking slightly as Jay pondered the question.
"Well I thought we could walk together...because it's dark and you know..umm.." Jay blushed slightly as she finished trying to explain herself.
"Is that it, really?" Dez placed one hand on the wall over Jay's left shoulder and leaned in forward, "or could you just not get enough of me?" Jay's heart stopped, had she died or something? Her mind raced a million miles a minute, and none of the thoughts allowed her to grab it. She was left blinking wordlessly at Dez, looking like a complete idiot, as Dez observed and thought was kind of funny, yet cute. To be nice Dez stepped back and started to walk away. After a few paces into the starry night sky, she turned to face Jay and called, "coming or what?" and just started walking.
Still caught of guard, and a lovely shade of pink, Jay's heart skipped a few beats before turning into motion and allowing her to race after Dez.

The walk home was sort of an awkward one, for Jay was afraid that if she opened her mouth the wrong thing would come out and shatter the friendship she was able to hold on to. She noted how Dez too was being quieter then usual, but still more able to speak then she was.
"So, ummm, we're here?" Dez offered, motioning at the stained brick apartment building looming beside the girl. She was awarded a nod of effort and no eye contact to go along with it.
"So I'll be going now?" the words were somewhere between a statement and a challenge. Letting moments bounce by, she just shrugged, and turned to disapeer around the brick wall but felt a hand grasp her jacket. Dez stopped but didn't turn. Just waited. That was all there was for the next moment, silence and the feeling of fear in Jay as Dez just waited.
"I..." Jay started, still holding the jacket sleeve tight between her slender fingers, "I...I love you." The word came out rushed and blended together like a drink mixed too fast. Dez was almost unable to taste each separate word entering her system. As the silence crammed between the two teens, it pushed the grip of Jay's hand, falling to her side as if she could no longer hold it. Unable to stand and stare at the darkened sidewalk, she ran up the steps and went to yank on the door when she heard it, almost to soft to hear by the human ear,
"I love you, too." The world stopped, for the second time that day. The tears overflowed in long salty waterfalls down her cheeks. Reality set in as she was warmed in Dez's arms and the whispering of, "My Aiko." and finally in that moment, her vigin lips met those of Dez's in warm and sweet embrace.

~~~~A few Months Later~~~~~
"Good morning, my Aiko" Dez leaned forward and pecked her girlfriend on the cheek.
Jay blushed lightly before turning to meet Dez's eyes,
"Good morning, Natsumi" She leaned forward, meeting lips on lips. The kiss ended softly before Dez started again,
"Since today is Sunday, what do you want to do?"
"I'm not sure." Admitted Jay shyly. She frowned slightly as her girlfriend started to laugh, "what is so funny?" she demanded.
Holding her side, Dez choked out, 'you! Your just so darn cute." This just made Jay blush harder and mutter,
"You don't have to laugh.."
"Aww, Aiko, you know I love you." Dez stopped laughing and pulled Jay onto the closest bench, were they just sat, gazing into each other's eyes.
It still amazed Jay that she had some how made it to this point, being Dez's girlfriend. She looked back at all the comments that Tsumi had made at her blushes and all the times she had waited to walk home with her. Jay still wonders if Dez was testing the waters? Maybe wondering if their feelings were the same, kinda like she had, but in a more bold way..
"Hey, Natsumi.."
"Mmm?"
"I was wondering, all those comments you made, before we were together.." Jay stopped, unsure what to say next.
"You're wondering if I liked you all the time, and was hinting?" Dez supplied and Jay nodded quickly. Dez breathed deeply before continuing.
"Well, not really. I had a feeling that you liked me more then just a friend, I was trying to see if I was right. By your reaction, I concluded that you did indeed have a crush on me. The hardest part was trying to figure out my feelings towards you. If they were friendship or something more.." Dez gazed out at the playground cramped with screaming children. Her eyes settled on a pair of girls swinging on the swings, both laughing and smiling. She noted how one was blond and the other had long dark hair, blowing with the wind of movement. "I guess since I couldn't stop thinking about you at all and you were in my dreams most nights," she turned, "I really did love you. I just hoped that you would love me as much as I love you."
"I promise, I will never let you go." Jay said softly, putting her arms around the taller girl, "not even when the world stops."
