I play the flute. I've been playing it for 4 years. 1 year was in Beginner's Band, in 4th grade. And 3 years in Concert Band. (5th grade to present time) I also joined Jazz Band halfway through the year. I'm second chair in Jazz Band. In Concert Band, I've literally been from last to 1st and practically everywhere in between. Right now, I'm 8th chair. But the school year is almost over, and then next year, I'm going to try to do so much better. I'm going to try to be 1st again. I know I can do it. I just need to practice a little more often, and try a little harder. And then I know I can do it.
My favorite songs to play are:
1. Great Locomotive Chase 2. La Negra Teane Tumbo 3. 25 or 6 to 4 4. Crazy Rhythms 5. YMCA 6. You Raise Me Up 7. Jump, Jive, and Wail 8. Accidentally in Love 9. Hedwig's Theme 10. Sweet Georgia Brown
I'll probably write a little more later.

Summer band started a while ago. It's so much fun! smile
But we each had to pick a solo to work on, one that challenges us. I didn't know what to pick, so Mrs. G picked one out for me. Syrinx. gonk It's way too hard! It's too low! It goes all the way down to a low C! I can't play anything below a low Eb! stressed
So I've been working on it for, like, 2 weeks, and its not as bad as it was in the beginning, but I still don't like it. I get that its supposed to push us, but I think its pushing a little too far. But I'm not giving up. I'll get it eventually, with practice. A lot of practice. sweatdrop

Oh yeah, and I found out that Kelsey isn't playing the flute next year. eek surprised
Which means I'm the only one in my grade who plays flute. Which really sucks. Hopefully I won't be too bad. sweatdrop
But, on the bright side, I'll probably be 1st chair next year then. biggrin Cause she's really the only competition. There are a lot of other flutes, but (not to seem cocky or anything) they aren't so good.
I think the besides Kelsey and I, the best flutes are Alexa and Veronica. smile (They are both going into 6th grade, but next years 7th graders aren't too good.) Back when I used to be 1st chair, (I only did bad on the last playing test cause I was way too nervous, which is weird cause I usually don't get nervous) Alexa was 2nd and Veronica was 3rd. They are also the only other flutes in jazz band. 4laugh
