I've been working at the Michigan Humane Society for over a year now but today was the first time I saw a dog being put down, a beautiful German Shepard who was too aggressive to be put up for adoption. I spent a long time crying in the bathroom, and I just needed someone to tell about it to.

It really is a shame what people do to their pets. I know how you feel, Lizzy. -hugs- <3
I've seen quite a few animals die, and I'd rather watch them go peacefully than in pain.

Aww sad Well, at least it was for it's own good. We wouldn't want to get in a fight with some other dogs and get badly injured. It's the humane way to go...

I live in Michigan too.
The spring my horse that I've had since I was ten years old.....which was 13 years ago had to be put down due to an infection that was killing him and was untreatable.
I've seen animals die. I had to kill a baby racoon today that my dog attacked. The worst was seeing a horse put down, because you can't make most horses lay down before you give them the shot.
I've worked at pet stores and kennels for years and the manner in which people treat their pets and how little they know about their pets makes me murderous. I'm starting to get to the point that I think that just to own a pet their should be a license/test because of the failure of people, and the tendancy they have to think of a pet as an ornament or a hairy human.
