I'm trying to put together a demo and a small tournament at a new local Sci-fi and Anime convention. If anyone will be in Wichita around August feel free to get in touch with me. I could really use the help as I just found out that the other main person I've been counting on for help probably won't be living here anymore at that time (They're moving to Colorado).

Aww good luck. Your best bet is to spam your message to the local kingdom board, you'll get people that are in close enough proximity to come help out.

Unfortunately there is no local Kingdom that I've been able to find. Although I hear that the group up in Kansas City is doing fairly well.
In this vein, what prizes are good to give away to the winners of public tourneys? I was thinking some nice fresh weapons for the winner each day. A little something to encourage them to come out to the park.

Give a newb a sword, he fights til it breaks. Teach a newb to make a sword, he fights for the rest of his life.

Specifically for a demo, it's a good idea go give away new basic weapons to encourage them to show up to the park. Once they're there and on the field, THEN show them how they're made. The trick to getting new members from demos is that you have to grab their attention and make is VERY easy for them to decide to come back.

The gear is made, I have made a greatsword, a batleth (a red-shirt game is running during this event too..), and a bi-sickle (Munchkin fans, anyone?)
Tourney winners will be able to choose one of these weapons, or take two "normal" weapons.
Pics will be available after I get covers on them if anyone is curious to see what this mess looks like
