So lately, I have heard that they are remaking the gold and silver version to heartgold/silver. Ignoring the heart part, I can't wait til it is released cause gold/silver is my favorite generation. Now I bet once this thread starts, ppl are gonna argue that Hoenn or Sinnoh is the best, but it's just my opinion.
Kanto is the original which is why people won't forget it. However, even w/ the remade version it was very simple and I didn't enjoy the fact that they took out the mew glitch in the remade version (I miss my mew T~T). Time to time though when I find my gameboy I get my yellow version and play once in awhile. R/B/Y is just a classic that should be treated w/ respect.
Even though Johto had one of the simplistic maps and easy gym battles, it is the first one to get color into their sytem. Let's not forget berries, new pokes, 100 new pkmn, the night and day system, the eggs, shiny pkmn and you had to work your a** off to get the legendaries. I may sound as a nerd but I enjoy the night and day system I mean it gives you something to do once in a while. While the over all game play was easy, it had a laid-back feeling, and with the new stat system it was hard to train them at the time.
Hmm... Where to begin w/ Hoenn... Even w/ the newest generation, Hoenn does have good graphics, and landscape differences. Also let's not forget the contest started in this generation. Starters are not pretty bad either. If I was younger, it would be considered my fav, but it pisses me off that w/ great graphics they took a step backwards w/ the time clock thing. Also I am not that much of a fan from the 3rd generation pkmn. Some are good, but you don't get the ones you want til later in the game. As much as I enjoy graphics, and the expansion of the region, that was the only great part about it. If I recall, it was even more glitchier than the 1st two generations.
Sinnoh is probably my second fav. Dispite the crappy naming in the english version, I do like the new pkmn alot(except for the starters; Hoenn did a better job), less glitches (I mean you to buy a hacker chip to screw up the game), the time clock came back, and best of all since it is a ds game, you don't have to open up ur pokedex every 10 sec to hunt down lengendaries XD. In the game is easier to level your pokes and I think out of all generations, it is the most serious when it comes to fighting others.
... I tries to make it short as possible... but we see how well that worked out XD Anyway post your opinions.

Im a huge fan of pokemon. I even still play the original gold version. But I don't think that the time based events (including the day and night feature) that it will not be as good. If it is similar to gold/silver/crystal and even ruby/sapphire/emerald the battery used for these events will eventually die leaving out a large part of the game. In the old version even the save feature was dependent on this battery. They most likely have fixed this due to the game mainly being built on this plus it would be more expensive actually replacing the battery than buying a new game.
p.s. I don't think that they will add more pokemon to the game. Due to its similarity to the remake of Red/Blue versions it would most likely involve the third generation pokemon if anything (most likely being able to go to more islands like the sevii islands in Fire Red/Leaf Green)
pokemon rules!!!

It's great that they are making a new generation pokemon game (finally! I don't have to pan-handle for Kanto pokemon now!) but I still feel that the gba games are left out a little. I mean, it's impossible to get all of the pokemon in those versions without hacking!

You can get more info on these games on: Serebii.net (I trust this site more than the normal pokemon site because they tell you more about downloads and new games coming out more early. They talk about even more stuff too!)

Feed my Rhyhorn, she likes all the berries! Aaaah! Pokemon! A.K.A. one of my obsessions at the moment!
First generation is an awesome classic. I still loooove my Pokemon Yellow! I play it rarely nowadays, though. Second generation is... well... I do not have much experience there so I will pass. But the day and night system was an awesome addition. As for third generation, I only played Ruby. It was good actually. But I thought at the time that making a third set of Pokemon was a bit overrated because I was having a hard time catching up with information. Of course I didn't know what was coming next. I also liked how you could do rematches with trainers. Now fourth generation is here, and I am playing Platinum nowadays... It's good so far but the Gyms are too easy and there are too many legendaries. It makes me miss the old days when there were only few legendaries (bird trio for the win + Mew & Mewtwo!). A lot of people say that the fourth generation Pokemon are crap and awful, but I actually like some of them. The starters are not my favourites, though. I like Luxray and it never failed me in a battle.
TL,DR version : I love Pokemon with all there is in it; the good and the bad!

I really like pokémon and ruby was my first gameboy game of my own and I bought it with my own money and all that but the first game I ever played? Well that goes back to the gameboy colors and I think it was silver and gold though silver is the one I remember best ^w^ I always got cyndaquil though chickorita was a close favorite >w< I really like the new systems of trading on the DS system and I think that pokemon games always seem to use all the features as much as possible so it is like it not only is a fun game to play it can help you get used to the systems that it will be played on >w< razz cool

Okay, huge pokemon fan here.
I've known about HeartGold/SoulSilver since it was announced.
And for all out there curious, they're coming out in March in the US.
Gold was the first pokemon game I owned, and ever since they remade R/B/Y (LeafGreen/FireRed) I've been waiting for a G/S/C remake.
I sorta dislike when people say that the first gen was the best... Or was the only good generation. They all have their good and bad sides.
My favorite spin off game is Pokemon Colessuem. It was unique, and focused more on story then... just fighting trainers and gym leaders, then beating elite 4 and rocket/aqua/magma/galactic. etc.
I'm no Pokemon know-it-all... Just been obsessed with it since I was six. -Has Red/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal, Sapphire, FireRed, Stadium, Snap, Colesseum, Battle Revolution, Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, Rangers: Shadows of Almia... then there's also his Pokemon Cards and other various pokemon stuff, likes plushes, little figurines and even a bag-
