Nora Hemingway
Sex: female
Age: 17
Height: 5-foot 7-inches
Weight: 132lbs
Description:
Nora has light brown hair which hangs straight and begins to curl at about chin level in wide loose barrel curls. Although she loves her hair she prefers to wear it tied up into pigtails with a white lace ribbon. Her favorite outfits usually consist of a white or cream Victorian lace breasted blouse, a corduroy cincher that laces up the back, plain brown stripey slacks, brown and tan boots, and her mother's cameo necklace. From time to time, when the weather permits, she sports a lovely rust colored long coat. Nora likes to wear rust red eye makeup which compliments her lightly suntanned complexion. She has a scar on her left shoulder, 4 and a a half inches long, crossing over the shoulder blade at its middle.
Bio:
Nora was born, obviously, she knows that. She just doesn't know where, nor does she care. If it had mattered, her mother would have told her. Magda was a traveler, who moved herself and Nora constantly from one place to another, never stopping to "settle down". She made jewelry and sold her creations to anyone who would buy them. Sadly those people tended to be few and far between. Money was always hard to come by, yet food always seemed to end up on the table. Nora had no father, that she knew of, to go out and work in the factories to support their family. Magda managed somehow... sometimes, after she had been put to bed, Nora would sneak down the halls of the inns and peek into the pubs. She saw her mother conversing with men, giggling, winking, rubbing ankles... never the same man twice. Nora wondered about them but never questioned her mother's motives or actions. She knew it was all for the best, or at least she hoped.
One night when Nora was asleep in their room at the inn (she was 12 at the time), a harsh knock came to the door. Startled, she sprang to her feet and opened the door thinking it might be her mother, drunk again. Instead she was greeted by a constable who had the gravest of looks on his red, mustached face. He took Nora to the police headquarters where she was informed that her mother had died. It was then she found out about the men and the money as the police proceeded to explain that Magda had stabbed a man that refused to pay her after her services. The man shot Magda twice in the head. Nora was horrified, to say the least.
She was adopted by the constable that had brought her to the station, a kind gentleman by the name of Edmund Hemingway. As he did his best to give Nora everything she had been denied in her prior life, she began to blossom into a fine young lady. She attended art classes, learned to sew, speak French, and spent her nights watching Edmund tinker with gadgets in his study. Edmund eventually decided that he had nothing further that he could teach Nora on his own, and since she learned things so quickly, he enrolled her in Aura Academy to put the finishing touch on her education.
Edmund had come to love Nora as if she were his own and seeing her off to school was difficult day for them both. As a gift for her departure Edmund presented Nora with a small box of her mother's belongings which he had kept for her at the police headquarters. It contained her mothers cameo necklace, boot knives and a framed picture of her which he had uncovered while searching Magda's things at the inn the night of her death. Nora hugged Edmund and set off to the Academy to begin her formal education.
Talents:
Nora excelled in many areas of study but mainly art, sewing, and minor engineering (enough to fix most items but not necessarily design them, not well enough to last at least). Her combat ability is limited, but effective usually. She is quick with her knives and fairly accurate throwing them from up to about 30 feet away.
Areas of Interest:
Nora, rather undecided on what she "wants to be when she grows up", has decided to try all sorts of classes until she figures it out. She's mostly interested in art but knows that art won't keep her pockets nicely lined, therefore she keeps her mind open to suggestion.
Armament:
Nora has two antique boot knives that once belonged to her mother.
