So, me and my friend watched the skeleton key And we are really interested in hoodoo.
We looked up some spells, and that was scary stuff! We would never do, but can someone tell me where it come from, do people still practice it today? Is all hoodoo bad? anything?

Hoodoo? The only hoodoo's I've ever heard of are the stone pinnacles like you see in Bryce Canyon. Guess I need to go look this up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoodoo_(folk_magic)
im lazy and dont like to research things, but here is the wiki page for it. Its real. My boyfriend wont let me preform any hoodoo spells, but i believe in it.
the next website are spells that are supposedly for hoodoo. http://www.mojomoon.net/mischoo.html i dont know if i would trust it, because the sources of the spells are unknown.

Yup, this is the salient point: "Hoodoo and Voodoo are often mistaken for one another. Some believe that the terms may have a common etymology. Simply put, Voodoo is a religion, whereas Hoodoo is a group of magical practices."
It's like Wicca and witchcraft, compatible but not the same. Interesting. I think I understand. On the MojoMoon site it is difficult for me to distinguish quite when the author is joking and when they are being serious but that may be part of the point. I guess I'm in the camp that does magic where you may take inspiration and structure from a source but write your own words.

At http://www.mojomoon.net/mischoo.html, the first spell already got me... unsure about this site. Sure, there's lots of spell to look at, but I doubt this person really knows what he or she is talking about.
Also, the person hasn't seemed to put enough time and effort into making this page look, at lest, decently good. Of course, this isn't necessary but I think that if the author of the site truly wanted you to learn something from they're site, you'd think that they would have at least made the darn sucker look appealing and have you learn from them.
I wouldn't know about doing these spells. You can try, but I doubt they'd have any good affect on the person. Good luck.

Scubas_girl moved on to somewhat more magically-inclined places, I suspect. Magic takes study, practice and dedication... not everyone has that. I suspect that those who don't want to do research don't get very far with magic.
