Who: Vyn, Wit & Toshiaki.
When: Mid-morning. The library has been open a few hours but is still relatively quiet.
Where: Barton library; primarily the foreign languages section near the checkout desk.
Weather: Outside the season of summer has really started to kick in as it's hot and humid,
but inside it's cool and pleasantly air conditioned.

The quiet of the library was much appreciated by the dark eyed figure, drifting unnoticed amongst the tall bookcases that made up the languages section. Compared to other sections of the establishment, this area was positively gloomy. Whereas the children’s section was a constant hubbub of activity with garishly painted shelves and youths squeaking at parents, the language section was empty most of the time, tucked away to the side of the checkout desk. People simply didn’t seem to need the plethora of dusty volumes on the different languages of the world; why bother when you could buy a brand new book alongside new technology like CDs and audio tapes? Plus the span of a library loan was rarely long enough to devour a whole new language anyway. Thus Vyn found a welcomed solitary refuge from the heat outside, whilst Ethan had a business meeting, plus the chance to touch up on her Japanese was warmly met too.

In fact, currently she was so comfortable in this new haven that as she trailed around picking up every Japanese guide she could find – hauling them around in her arms like peculiar infants – she fed quietly and discretely. The ribbon surrounding her rune writhed, whipping up some dust on the floor as shadows danced and swayed in the recesses of the bookcases. The shadows here tasted unique to Vyn; musky and full of deep rich favours, much like how Ethan described the expensive vintage wines that he often drank.

As she filled herself with the nutrition and flavours of the shadows she glided to a small decrepit stall designed to be some sort of study bay. Unfortunately it was located at the edge of the small language section and on the borders of the poetry and lyrical section of the library, a slightly more popular area – yet there still seemed to be no more than a few elderly looking browsers so Vyn set to work regardless. Muttering snippets of the foreign language and using the book to correct her mistakes on grammar and pronunciation... She didn't care if it attracted a few worried looks from old codgers!

Both Wit and Toshiaki were blessed by the fact that neither of them were particularly sluggish in the mornings, should they choose to be. Dweian blamed it on the caffeine that both tended to ingest upon awaking, Wit with his English teas, and the newborn kitsune with his ever-present bowl of coffee beans (he'd taken a special liking to the Starbucks blend of Verona), the new popcorn in the house, twould seem. However, though they were cheery at all hours, the butler was not, and kicking his two charges out of the house seemed the best course of action when any peace and quiet was to be had before that hallowed hour known as noon, when the world was supposed to truly come alive.

Though there was an extensive private library in Wit's own residence, the blond had long ago ceased fervently collecting books as some new hobby caught his eye, dancing from one interest to another with the fickle tendencies of a being half his age. Thus, an excursion to the library was still greatly anticipated, and as it was one of the places that was pleasant to go to this early in the morning, right up there with little cafes and coffee shops, and so Wit and Toshiaki found themselves at the Barton library, one of the best in the area (and of course, travel expense was no object) ready to glean new knowledge. Or at least Wit was, Toshi was still grasping the fine art of reading, proving more skilled in reading the kanji on Wit's shogi tiles than adapting to the difficulty of the English language.

Clinging to Wit's sleeve so that he was tugged along behind, the kitsune Raevan played hitchhiker until they were well within the confines of the shelves, and Wit was quietly shooing him away to find something else whilst the halfbreed made his way into the more 'adult' section of things. Toshi tittered softly, before his expression became serious, and lower lip jutted out into a pout, a gleam of dark eyes to be seen behind his lashes, which were constantly narrowed into a weave of mystery. "Doshite?" He chirped mournfully, the plaintive word sounding perfectly at home in his melodic tenor voice.

His pleas to no avail, he watched as Wit picked up a book of dubious title, stuck a tongue out at his charge, and then proceeded to ignore him. Well...if he was going to be that way... Toshiaki would set out to find himself an adventure, and Wit could not be angry with him if he made trouble, mm? Bobbing towards the darker corners of the library, he found himself amongst older tomes, leather bindings and beautifully embossed covers. Ears flicking to and fro like satellite dishes, they soon picked up something familiar...something that caressed the innermost part of what the Raevan was, the terribly oriental soul that Wit had fetched to create him. Floating quietly towards that stall, he placed fingers on the edge of it, and hauling himself up, ears fully at attention, he then peered over it at the Raevan on the other side. "Ohayou go-zai-ma-su~!" He greeted, drawing the last word out into syllables, a wide smile on his features.

"Ohayou go-zai-ma-su~!"

What? Vyn was taken aback. Who had spoken to her in Japanese? She removed her head from where it had been crammed - nose almost to paper in a spread of new vocabulary, half expecting to see one of the older browsers from the poetry section. Perhaps a withered Japanese fellow who had overheard her? Instead she was met by the scent of freshly ground coffee and a smiling youthful face. This person had certainly not been in the poetry section when the rose had first settled down to her studies, then again, she had been so engrossed in her fervent self-teaching that an elephant could've raided the section and she wouldn't have noticed it..

It was this surprise that muddled her thoughts and made translating what he had said take shamefully long. Thus when she did gather her scattered thoughts she spat out a garbled reply, a blush forming on her cheeks.

Ohayou-gozaimasu, Nihongo o hanashimasu ka!?*

She fidgeted with the book in her hand, folding the corner of the page into a neat triangle and then unfolding it again... Her pronunciation had been terrible! She sounded like some teenage anime-fan trying to be cool and copy their hero in the cartoons. But no. She wasn’t like that – she wanted to learn so she could understand and speak the language, not just to follow some fad! It was just that this was her first time actually speaking with someone else with a scrap of knowledge about the language. Nerves and surprise had no doubt gotten the better of her and now this person would think badly of her...

She was so wound up in her internal frustration at blurting and slurring her reply that she failed to notice that this company was sporting a pair of soft looking ears and was surely not human.

*Translation: "Good morning, do you speak Japanese!?" (Can you do this for me, just in case google fails me when I try to translate what you say?)
