After the long defeat of Robotnik from quite some time ago, everyone is on vacation on Earth. But, finally when everyone thinks peace is here; it quickly goes down the drain. And so it begins, right where it all started.
It is said that an unknown entity is born from the residue of negative energy left whenever the Chaos Emeralds are used for evil. Something with unlimited power, bringing devastation to both worlds. What would happen if this were to be unleashed? Or could this just be merely stories? In fact, what if one of the emeralds got into the wrong hands? This has happened before, but this time there's no telling what may happen. Whoever this entity may be can be released at any moment. To make matters worse, rumors have gone about that a group is trying to release Mephiles from the Scepter of Darkness. Their plans? No one exactly knows due to their low profile.
Their plans are to await on the day when the nine planets align. The day of the eclipse, where the planets block out the sun and creates a blazing red glow around the dark circle. It is the first in eighty-six billion years. It is said to be connected to opening a portal to a different life form, something that lies hidden. Only the seven chaos emeralds can bring these beings along with an item called Aergis; which is a ancient, stone artifact. It's whereabouts are unknown. However, some do know about it but few. All is known is that it is located in a desert filled with death traps.
If they succeed in bringing forth their plans, Mephiles' ideas of recreation of the world will mean total destruction. Not only does he want to bring forth these 'creatures', but the hedgehog reffered as Nazo. Whether both of them will team up in the end is a mystery and less likely will they get along. Not many villians like working together. However, time will tell. Destiny is not fate, leaving you, the heroes to change the world before it is demolished. It is up to you to turn everything around or fail to accomplish your goal. Or choose to accompany the evil in this world. It's your decision.
