The One Called Sketch Vice Captain

((This thread is dedicated to putting any new and exciting guild news - the good and the bad in one easily accessible location. Enjoy!))
January 26th, 2010 Well, it's finally happened, fellow Guildmates.
As of 0338 this morning, I have been promoted to Vice Captain of our Guild. And I actually am very grateful to all of you for having the faith in me, even after a long departure, to recommend me for the position.
I will try my best to breathe some new life into this now dying guild.
We face a tremendous obstacle here, boys and girls.
When we first started, we couldn't keep the activity to a minimum even if we wanted to. Now the mountain we must climb is getting that air of excitement and activity pumped back into our illustrious ranks.
The difficulty isn't in getting the offers made best for everyone involved. The difficulty lies in obtaining enough of a voice for our little movement to matter, and for that we need to "kick it up a notch."
Anyone with further ideas on the matter is encouraged to make a thread in our main forum. Contests are always a sure winner. Let's hear some creativity.
Once again, thanks guys. It means alot to me that you regard me with such esteem.
Now and forever your servant,
Jack "IceColdHaterade" Feuchtinger Jr.

la dentelle Update: at last check (half a minute ago), the member count is at 929 and the signature count at 2,064. Unfortunately, our guild and/or topics have yet to be featured in any way. As protest/petitions have been spotlighted in the past, I sort of doubt that gaia is keeping us out of the public view. That being said: we need to get the offer information threads into the spotlight. It's the easiest way to attract more people. I'm making a Protest SoS Art Shop Maybe that will help...?

Maybe in the next newsletter you can post the highlights of our latest Live Protest? We recruited about a dozen people from zOMG alone, just by talking about it. It was especially interesting because a lot of the poeple didn't even know what the offers system was, or how it worked, but they were fully on board with us when they learned. We described the good and the bad of the offers system, and they still agreed.
We also took a few screen shots, just to show our numbers. Many people asked for signs to show their protest, and sat with us immedietly to help us protest, completely dropping what they were doing on zOMG.
I thought it was rather impressive. There were a couple of people who insisted that the scam offers and such where only bad at the fault of members who where "stupid enough to try". Perhaps we can come up with a more convincing way to explain it to members who think like that?

One thing that might help is to analyze the terms for each offer. Does anyone speak legalese? because if we have proof that the offers aren't being honest about what's involved in completing them, we'll have concrete proof that there are scams, viruses, and hidden charges.

Helped negotiate two union contracts here! Alas, folks, we're looking at this the wrong way. The thing here is, boys and girls, we don't need to dress our speaking voices in legalize to prove what we already know. What Gaia already knows. What the "company" proposing these "offers" knows. We really don't need to prove anything at this point. The key at this stage in the battle is education. In light of recent events concerning Gaia Towns, zOMG seems like a good place to start a live protest. Wait about a week. By then we'll be fully organized, our motives and goals clear, and nearly 90% of all regularly active Gaians* will have shown their support by either joining the guild, signing the petition, carrying the SoS picket signs, or any combination of those things. * Statistic based on a calculation of number of most active gaians (including mules) and some math magic involving statistics already available in our petition and member count.

This is your pilot speaking.... we're all going to die. If it counts as news, the arena's open to voting, so you can vote for my protest avatar now:

Thank you for listening... Hold on for your lives.

Yesh, I should put my sign back on now. I'm really looking forward to discussing and getting together a goal plan and maybe moving this forwards a bit.
