Finaly news... there will be a new album!!
here is the news from the official evanescence site
Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?
There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year...
-Amy
WATCH OUT!!
the press is telling another story this is the media story
With lead singer Amy Lee leaving Evanescence to pursue a new path, fans wondered what the rest of the band would do. Now, we know. They've fallen, or rather, changed their name to Fallen and have acquired a brand new leading lady: American Idol finalist Carly Smithson. The Irish lass was a favorite among her Idol season and now joins the once adored rock group to create a new, yet familiar sound. Her band includes Evanescence guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody, drummer Rocky Gray, guitarist John Lecompt and bassist Marty O'Brian, the only other musician not in the original band. We won't get to hear any of the goods until Monday, when they release a free download of their first song on their website. We can't imagine anyone else being able to keep up with the strength and power of Amy Lee's vocals, but we'd liked to be pleasantly surprised.

[~+~] Yeah, i read that the other day... That's good news at least. :3
Actually, i just looked up We Are The Fallen (they had to change it) and they're actually pretty good. I find it quite hilarious how much she looks like Amy Lee (with the exception of the tattoo), and her weird accent (Irish/American).
Amy Lee is, and always will be an amazing singer, and song-writer.
I will always love Evanescence. But this new band sounds pretty awesome too, and let's face it, Ben Moody is a staggering song writer. I'm quite glad he's got a new band, as it was a shame he was only writing for other people instead of performing what he wrote. I wish them the best of luck to be honest.

If We Are The Fallen is the new album they have been talking about I'll seriously cry.

Blackninja3003 i like the idea of a new album i really want more of amy's piano songs i hope there will be a lot more of them and i hope she souds more like some of ther first stuff like Before the Dawn and Imaginary While I like piano, I wish they'd make at least some of the album heavier. Sure piano can be included for softer parts, but where the ******** are the organs! That would be haunting pretty. Whisper is a good example of heavier stuff. Obviously I don't want Amy to start screaming lol. surprised I expected the second album to have more songs like Where will you go & Even in death. That would be epic.

Great news about the album. I've been wondering about that a little to be honest. I remain confident that it will be epic (perhaps even in more ways than one).
I wonder how different it will be from Open Door, considering what a change Open Door was to Fallen. Being stronger songs in comparison, I wonder what this next album will be like in terms of what sort of songs they will be this time. I'm certainly excited to find out (as well as the name of the album, and at what point of the year it will be released).
That part with what the media said, though, sounded honestly like a joke to me. As if that would ever happen! Amy leave Evanescence? Ben Moody come back? Hiring an Idol singer? Wtf?
(Even if Amy did leave, I doubt that would mean Moody would return. What reason would he have to come back, even with Amy gone?)

So wait...let me see if I got this right...
Evanescence will have a new cd out in October 2010 (I heard it was October), but Amy Lee is kind of striking out on her own and the band is reforming and renaming themselves We Are the Fallen.
That is kind of sad news, yet very promising.

That is kind of sad news, yet very promising. I thought the same thing at first, but then I read the OP's post again. Luckily, it seems that what we both thought isn't the case. In the first quote (the one from Amy Lee), she still refers to the band as 'we'. The only thing that We Are The Fallen seems to have in common with Evanescence at all is that they have the band's original songwriter. I do agree that it sounds promising, though- I'll definitely have to listen to them when their CD comes out. smile . But I'm relieved to read that Evanescence are together, as well. smile .

Let me set things straight - Evanescence is made up of Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, and Tim McCord. They are making a cd that will be released in the second half of 2010.
We Are the Fallen is made up of Ben Moody, Rocky Gray, John LeCompt, Marty O'Brien, and Carly Smithson. They are a completely different band and will have an album released in January or February of 2010.
This is the truth. Do NOT believe anything that tells you otherwise, many media sources have the story wrong and THIS is the correct one. I have my information from Amy's official post on Evthreads.
