I decided to try out a Hunter today, purely out of fascination with the pets, and will be going BM. I will be lvl 10 soon, so I'm starting to think about the different pets to choose from. A couple questions..
Which pets are best for PVP? I want to be able to dish out as much damage as possible. Are Cunning pets better than Ferocity pets for PVP?
Will I be able to tame pets from Alliance areas?
For example, if you tame a level 10 pet, and you're level 11, does it adjust to your level? How does that work?

With Pets they wont adjust to your lvl you cant tame anything above you and also cunning/ferocity are both good in pvp btu while lvling get a tankign pet liek a bear or monkey amkes it easy to hold agrgo and youll die alot less. i would know my main is a 80 hunter so feel free to ask questions about it.

Basic facts: Pets gain levels same as you do but only require 1/10th of a hunters total experience. They will only gain experience from mob kills not from quests you turn in. Pets gain talent points every 4 levels
(the following is based mostly on opinion) For PvP cunning or ferocity is the better choice as they not only increase their own dps but yours as well. For cunning pets chimaeras are rather popular due to their slowing effects. Though in early levels a bat may be a better choice due to their stun effect. Ferocity Devilsaurs win out by a large margin in terms of raw dps with core hounds being second due to their effects on casters.
For solo leveling I highly recommend a tenacity pet (e.g. Turtle, bear, boar, ext.) Turtles in my opinion are the best pet tanks out there due to their high survivability. You will find that once you get higher in level your pet will become a more and more effective tank. A personal example, at level 75 I two manned the Scourge of the North quest in dragonblitght (a 5 man quest) with a prot spec paladin healing. The pet would get low on health, use shell shield, and mend pet + a flash of light could easily heal it up to full, by the time he got down in health again shell shield would be cooled down and it was rinse and repeat from there.
At low levels most pets wont have much of a difference between families as you will not have the talent points and your pets wont have the talent points to really do much.
Holy wall of text Batman! Sorry for the long post. sweatdrop I hope this information is at least useful.
