Has anyone listened to the Love for Nana CD? I really like it. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it or where I could find some info on it. I'm wondering specifically about track 8. Do Glen Matlock & The Philistines really play on that one? (If you don't know, Glen Matlock was the bassist for the Sex Pistols before Sid Vicious.)

Ok, my rommate has the cd, so I'll give the info available on it ^^ I can't read the japanese names of the artists, and my roomate is in class right now so...

There are two versions of the cd, one with TRAPNEST pictures on the cover, jacket, and cd, and one with BLACK STONES.

LOVE for NANA ~Only 1 Tribute~
Tracklist:
01. BEAT 7 ~The Theme of LOVE for NANA~ / (japanese artist)
02. GIMME ALL OF YOUR LOVE !! / Tommy heavenly6 for BLACK STONES
03. Twinkle / (japanese artist) for BLACK STONES
04. REVERSE / TETSU69 for TRAPNEST
05. stay away / abingdon boy school for BLACK STONES
06. I miss you? / Do As Infinity for BLACK STONES
07. banbiin / (japanese artist) featuring Mokebayashi Miho for TRAPNEST
08. Sleepwalking / Glen Matlock & The Philistines featuring Holly Coock (from SEX PISTOLS) for BLACK STONES
09. Sugar Guitar / SKYE SWEETNAM for TRAPNEST
10. -reimeijidai- / (japanese artist) for BLACK STONES
11. BLACK CROW / SEX MACHINEGUNS for BLACK STONES
12. Two Hearts / ZONE for TRAPNEST
13. Cherish / Otsuka Ai for TRAPNEST

The booklet has the tracklist, a message from Yazawa, I think, and some sketches of Nana characters with the lyrics ^^ There's Nana, Reira, Nobu, Takumi, the kid ( I forget... -_- wink , Ren, Yasu and Naoki. There's also an artist comment part at the end, from all the bands who made a song for the album (in japanese). And credits.

So I guess it really is the bassist of sex pistols in that song ^^ My favorite is Cherish, cause it's just catchy or something. Kinda gives me the overall feel of the manga, you know, fun, but kinda sad at the same time.

Also, my roomate did a translation of Tetsu's interview where he talks about the album and his song on it if anyone is interested?

My favorite song is "Gimme All of Your Love." It's just so catchy! But I think that this CD is the best Nana CD out there. All the songs are really good. I did see a scan of the artist's comments, and it looks like Glen Matlock really did contribute to the album, which I think is really cool.

I'd be interested in reading the translation! Sounds interesting. biggrin

yeah, the cd is pretty good ^^ It's great that they did something like that since music is so important in that manga!

and you can see the translated interview here:

among other interviews, mostly about Tetsu ^^

Unfortunately, I've never listened one of those CD (even if I would like)... I must try to found it in illegate download on the net (I don't want to buy one of them without know if I'll like or not).

I've just listened some songs of Mika Nakashima for Nana's film and I she sings well, she's not really the voice I imagined for Nana... I thought about something more "raucous" and dynamics, it's sound so "pop" for me whi thought Blast was a punk/rock band. But well, I suppose that it's to be appropriate for a larger public...

I imagined Nana's voice differently, too... she was supposed to have a sort of raspy and unique voice. I thought their music would be more punky as well. You're probably right in thinking that they changed it to rock/pop to suit the general public, but perhaps it was also because Mika Nakashima is used to singing pop, not punk. I was really surprised that Trapnest's music was so poppish. I think that Yuna Ito has the right sort of voice for Reira, but I thought that Trapnest was supposed to be more of a rock band.

I'm loving the anime music so far. The Love for Nana CD is still my favorite, though. I listen to that one a lot.

I haven't heard the two tribute CDs but I have a copy of both 'Glamorous Sky' and 'Endless Story' singles from the Nana movie. Both Mika and Yuna fit the roles very well. Haha, sadly that's like the only reason I got into Nana because Mika Nakashima played the role of Nana in the movie. I was all "Holycrap! Mika's in a movie! MUST WATCH ITTTTT!!!!!!!!!" sweatdrop

My favorite is GIMME ALL OF YOUR LOVE !! I just can't get enough of that one. Sleepwalking and Twinkle are also really good.

Does anyone have the full length OP and ED themes from the anime yet? They are amazing! I can't decide which one I like better. Usually I like the Blast inspired songs better, but the Trapnest one is really beautiful.
