Like the title says. How old were you when you had a conscious knowing of your interest in writing?

I myself was about eight, approximately. I decided I loved writing and wanted to write more stories. I think it was thanks to a school project when we were supposed to make a five-page story about chickens on a farm. XD

(P.S. You are all free to put up topics here and in General Discussion. xD)

Uhm. Well, let's see. I don't think I wrote a five page story of a chicken farm, but I was pretty close...

When I was seven or eight, I got into drawing an under-water world similar to the scene from Spongbob. I would sit there a couple of hours a day and draw little buildings and pathways, trying to expand my city. I got to about thirteen pages of complete crap when I thought "wow, what a fun waste of time."

I showed my mum my piece of art, and she decided that some of the animations inside my little drawing were too graphic to (one) even be possible under water and (two) even be on the tip of an eight year old's imagination. I thought that every city has crime - sexual assaults and harassments, etc. so I drew them in there as well. In the end, after a week or two, she sent me to a shrink. My shrink said that she'd like me to draw more pictures and if I could not draw them, then I should describe them aloud for her to imagine as well.

I told her of many of my ideas for eutopias and space stations and moon colonies, but only ever told of crime within my eutopias - the word "eutopia" reminded me of an African country where everyone was axe-wielding gun crazed maniacs.

She told me I should write them down (when she finally got sick of me yabbering on), so I did. I've been writing ever since.

...

lol

I like you. You're too cool for words. xD My parents are used to my random-a** pictures that I draw when I'm not online. But a shrink? No, my parents wouldn't send me to one... we don't have enough money. xD

But really, that's the most interesting "my-path-to-writing" story I've ever heard. EVER. xD

...Eutopia sounds like a city made of glass and water to me. O.o

Aha. Why, thank you m'dear.

I'm not sure what brought me to the thought of Eutopia being similar to an African country in military and police turmoil, but I suppose Eutopia reminded me of the country Ethiopia - and that's pretty much how I imagined Ethiopia to be.

But that's not to discourage you from ever going to Ethiopia... from the pictures I've seen, it's an amazing place.

... Just make sure you go there with a lot of money. ^^

im a fairly new writer. i started writing my first fiction pice about 2 months ago. what makes me a decent writer isnt that i am amazeingly interesting its that i can make any topic into a fun read.
my new story is titled "self discovery" and offers a painfully clear view on human fantasy and how ignorant we can be.

Hmm, let's see. I wrote my very first story when I was seven. It was about a unicorn named Rosie who went on a quest. She fought invisible pirates and found her way through a labyrinth. Pretty exciting for a unicorn ^^.

And then I found gothic horror. biggrin
