Trance grumbled and walked down his driveway, his black and blue messenger bag slung over his shoulder. He'd refused to let his mother drive him to school, first day or not. He wasn't in elementry school anymore, and the school was in walking distance. He was wearing faded, baggy black jeans and a band tee shirt that was a little too big. Worn high top sneakers were on his feet, the laces on his left foot untied. He hated school, hated moving. Hated being different. It was bad enough he had a weird name, (seriously, who names their kid Trance?!) but he was also cryokinetic. He could freeze things solid with ease if he tried. And the very air got colder when he entered a room. He could wear shorts in a blizzard with out getting cold (In fact, he loved to) and hot days put him in a worse mood than usual. He slouched down the street, glaring directly in front of him. His too long white-blond hair fell in his pale silvery-blue eyes. His mother had been trying to convnce him to get his hair trimmed for a week now. He'd refused every time. He liked the partail view of the world he got looking through his bangs. It was different, mixed things up a bit. Trance sighed as he reached the school gate. It was smaller than his last school, but bigger than the one before that. About the size of the one he'd been expelled from a while back. Not many people were around, so he guessed he was early. He stepped onto the grounds and looked around for a sign that would point him in the direction on the main office. And so the first day begins.... he thought to himself.

A young boy ran right past Trance. He seemed to be in a hurry even though it looked like the school grounds were empty. That was the first odd thing. The next was the kid dropped his books. Wait? Indeed, this kid was in high school. He wasn't a kid he just kind of looked like it. The distance between trance and this blue haired kid didn't get far before a group of three "beefier" looking guys ran by Trance yelling "Aww what's this! Get back here!"
The young boy obviously didn't listen for he headed toward the school doors. But his effort failed as the man with the short brown hair grabbed the blue haired boy and shoved him to the ground "You don't insult us and get away with it!" The other two had caught up to what was going on and they stood and laughed. It was obvious that this brown haired man was this groups "leader". "LET GO!" the blue haired boy struggled against his attacker but it didn't look to be any good. The next thing the brown haired leader raised his fist and slammed it against the young boys face. Then he raised to do this again. After the third blue the blue haired kid stopped struggling. The group of thugs seemed to take no concern for the other man that was on the school grounds.

Trance watched what went on with slight surprize. He jumped out of the way in time to not get trampled, though he didn't have it in him to just leave. He sighed, blowing his hair out of his face. He cinched his bag strap a bit, so it'd be hardered to rip out of his hands and trudged over, scowling. He was annoyed by all of this, and pissed off at the people who would gang up three to one, so the air around him was pushing fourty degrees. He hated getting involved, but he'd gone through the same thing. He wasn't about to let these three bruisers send this small boy to the hospital. Not while he was standing there. He knew he was throwing away any decent chance at a good reputation, but he didn't care. He didn't need any of them. He could still email his best friend, the only one he had, and that was fine for him. He could live through this without any other people. It's not like any other people would understand his strange gift anyway. He needed no one. "hey losers, this is all over an insult...? Well, here's a couple for you, if you're that worried about them. Idiots, for charging around here like you own the place. Clumsy, for almost knocking me over back there. Loud, i could hear your hoots and hollars from twenty yards outside the gate," of course, this was a lie, but he figured if he was going to commit suicide he might as well do it right. "And Cowards," on this word his breath froze in the air, and the air around his feet was freezing, creating a cold mist even in the warm sunlight, "Because you need three of you to go up against someone who looks like he's should be in sixth grade. Have you had enough, because i can think of pleanty more. And hell, i don't even know your names yet." He glared at them, his pale eyes glittering with annoyance and anger. He could see the small boy's bloodied face and that made things worse. Oh God, i'm so dead....They're going to kill me... i'm the idiot here... He cringed mentally, waiting for what would happen next...

The three of them laughed. The one on top of the boy stood up "This scrawny punk my look like he should be in middle school but he knows how to pick his fights here." The one who had thrown the punches glanced down at the kid "Mess with us again and we'll kill you. Stay out of our way!" He shrugged off the new comer by looking at his two men "let's go." and they left. They didn't even try to pick a fight with Trance. It wasn't out of fear but it was out of annoyance. Slow movement came from the beat up 'kid'. He sat up slowly once the three thugs ran off. "what..." the left side of his face was rather beat up. Blood trickled down his check. His forehead looked rather beaten and his eye was defiantly going to be a black one. Only a few scrapes were on his right side and his checks were swollen slightly. The thugs had been right. It was easy to tell with the blue haired guy sitting up that he wasn't a kid. He was just built small. His head was down and his gaze was locked to the ground. "Tha...thank you..." he almost spoke in a whisper due to feeling a bit out of it. ((here is a pic of him. He ain't a kid he just looks young ^.^ http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff96/Needful/Anime Males/anime_boy.jpg bruises and blood not included. ))

Trance frowed after them, crossing his arms over his chest. That had gone better than he'd hoped. They hadn't come after him, at least not yet. He was pretty sure he'd get it later though. He sighed, slowly begining to heat up again. He didn't like letting himself get angry. He'd frozen his blood in his veins before and almost died over anger. Actually, he'd gotten expelled because he put the other guy in the hospital after he thawed out. He wasn't really looking to repeat the incident, so he decided he'd just avoid those three. They wouldn't be easy to forget. He sighed again and looked down at the boy on the ground. He looked like a mess. He was bloodied and bruised and dizzy. whatever, not my problem. ...Not my problem!! He thought, annoyed at himself. He turned waving over his shoulder. "Sure, whatever..." He walked a few feet away, thren stopped. He had followed the four and now had no idea where he was. he looked around, once again looking for a sign or something. He growled to himself, then turned back to look at the other boy. He stepped a little closer, once again scowling. "Uhm, do you know where the front office is...? I'm supposed to check in or some crap like that...."

He gave a small nod "I do..." He glanced around trying to locate his books. It was weird. Most people who got beat up would over react and fight back or cry. They wouldn't sit still calmly looking around for books! "My...name is Haku." He seemed a little distant with his words as he attempted to push himself up off the ground. It took time but he succeed and ended up on his feet. Not quite stable but stable enough to stand on his owns. "I can take you there. I just have to find my books." The blood continued to flow but it didn't seem to bother Haku. Something that was natural but who knows. Perhaps the guy had gotten beat so much he didn't know what was going on? Right?
Haku looked around then slowly began walking back toward where they came. It was still early enough that other students wouldn't be showing up anytime soon so Haku knew he had time to retrace his steps and find his text books. He was carrying a load of them. As he walked slowly he moved his left arm to the left side of his face and placed pressure over his bleeding wounds. "Just...give me a minute I need to find my books."

Trance stood, watching the other boy. What was he doing?! He was worried about books of all things? What the hell....? "Uh, nice to meet you. I'm Trance. Uhm.... i think you might want to go to the nurse or something.... that really doesn't look good...." He muttered, his words barely audible. He wasn't a people person. He didn't like being around people, with the exception of his mom and his only two friends. One of which had promised to come visit in a week. They were still working out the details, but having a familiar face around would surely improve his outlook on this whole situation. He missed her a ton and hadn't seen her in a year at least. Her visit was the only thing he could look forward to. Trance sighed and watched the other boy stumble away. He groaned inwardly and hurried to catch up. "Look, just.... agh, here." he sighed and jogged back the way they'd come, looking for the place where Haku had fallen. He locaded a messy pile of books an dpapers and scopped them up. He went back to Haku and sighed. "Here. I'll carry these for you, just go to the nurse. I'll find my way from there, okay? God, you're bleeding all over!" he scowled, the air creeping into cooler temperatures again. This was a waste of time, in his mind. He had things to be sorting out, he didn't need this. But haivng one ally in this place would be good. They didn't have to be friends, just someone he could say he knew so his mother didn't worry again. He hated to see the small, sad frown when he said he didn't have friends and didn't want any. So he'd pretend, if this blue-haired boy was willing to at least acknoledge his presance, that would be enough.

Haku's good eye gazed at Trance "The nurse is in the office...I'll take you." He gave a half smile then turned to lead the way. "I would shake you hand, but you know." He was still talking a little bit quiet. Maybe due to being a little dizzy still?
Soon enough they came to the front office and entered the doors. Haku was doing a decent job at preventing the blood from going all over the place. He himself didn't think it was that bad but he thought it would be a good idea to go the nurse offices. Besides a normal person wouldn't be so calm after getting their a** beat up by a thug.
Haku used the hand to point the the nurse. "I'll be there for a bit if you need anything. If you just leave my stuff over there..." He pointed to the front area "I can pick it up later." He took a pause then looked at Trance for a moment "Thank you for your help." He gave a small bow then ran off toward the office. Maybe a little more steady then was expected. He soon vanished into the nurse's office and left Trance to do the check ins needed. Haku knew if Trance was knew he would be in the office still after Haku was bandaged or repaired up.
((Quick reply; i might be able to do one more before heading to bed ^.^))

Trance shook his head. "Nah, it's fine." He didn't really like being touched, so it was fine by him that Haku didn't shake his hand. He didn't like the weird looks he got when people felt how cold his skin was. It annoyed him more than anything. He followed Haku to the front office and nodded. "Right. Yea, sure..." He muttered and set the other's things down where he'd pointed. He then walked into the office and to the front desk. There was a woman in her late fourties siting behind the desk. "Uhm, I think i was supposed to come here..." Trance spoke, just loud enough for her to hear. She looked up, then smiled. "Are you new?" "Uhm, Yea. Trance Park. I was supposed to give these to you, i think..." He turned and looked through his bag, searching for something. After a moment he looked up. "Damn, i think i dropped them...." The woman frowned at his language, then nodded. "The papers? That's alright, you can just fil them out again here. And i'll have to get your schedual and a map of the school... And you'll need to have your teachers sign this for you..." she reached over and handed him a bright green paper. Her hand brushed his and she quickly pulled away, shocked by the cold. Trance's gaze darkened. Just like evryone else. "Yea, okay. And the others...?" "Right, right... uhm, here they are. Fill these out again please..." She handed him a few more papers and a pen. He sighed and began slowly filling them out.

When Haku had entered the nurses office the nurse freaked out! "OH No! Not again!"
Soon enough Haku had ointment on his wounds and a couple of stitches. It really didn't look that bad when all the blood was cleaned off and he had iced the swollen parts down. It just looked like he had some wounds. By the time he walked out of the nurse's office he looked pretty damn good for someone who just got beat up. Haku hadn't told the nurse who did this, he never did.
Haku looked around the office to find Trance. Once spotted Haku rushed over to him. "Hey, didn't you look through the pile of stuff?" He was referring to the papers and books that had been scattered on the ground. "Some papers fell out that were yours too." Haku was standing next to Trance. Rather close now but no contact had been made yet.

Trance continued through his papers, not looking up when Haku came to his side. He was rewriting everything carefully. His mother's handwriting was much neater than his own, so he was trying to keep things legable. He sighed "No, why would i look through your stuff. It's yours, not mine," he answered, not looking up. He was on his last paper and concetrating to keep things neat. His hand was really starting to hurt and he was annoyed by everything so far. At the last statement his head shot up. "Are you serious?! Agh, great...." he left the pen and walked over to the messy pile. He sifted through somethings, then pulled out his neatly papercliped stack of papers. Sure enough his mother's neat, purple handwriting glittered on the page. Why she insited upon purple gel pen he'd never know. "Ugh, damnit... i just refilled them all out too...." He sighed and walked back over to the secritary. "Found 'em." He muttered, handing her the stack. She smiled. "Oh good! So you dind't have to fill out the other papers then?" "No, but i did anyway. What ese do i need?" "Oh, here's your schedual.." she handed him another peice of paper and noticed Haku. "Oh! Good morning Haku! How are you? Have you met Trance yet? He just transferred here today." She grinned at the blue haired boy and handed Tance a map of the school. "Here, you have about fifteen minutes before the first bell rings, you should go find your classes, explore a bit. Maybe Haku here can show you areound...?" She smiled expectantly. "Ah, thanks. Uhm, no i think i've got it. Bye then..." he muttered and walked out of the office.

Haku smiled at the lady. His first period was actually helping them in the office so he left his stuff and followed Trance "It wouldn't be nice of me to let you attempt to find your way around. After all it is kinda my job to help transfer students." Haku walked next to Trance
"So where are you from?" He had found his voice it was calm, light, caring...and there was something more. It had a soothing effect to it as well. Haku was easily keeping up with the new students attempt at getting rid of the blue haired boy. It wasn't hard. "Trance was it?"

"No, really it's fine. I can handle it," He looked over to find Haku walking next to him. He held back a sigh. Oh wonderful. How annoying... He gritted his teeth slightly at the other's attempt to make conversation. He really wasn't in the mood to stand around and chat. He glanced at the map in his hand, then the schedual, then the map. Math first. Ooh, fun. "Where i'm from doesn't really matter all that much. I didn't particularly like it there, it doesn't matter." Tance left out that he didn't particularly like it anywhere. "Yes, my name is Trance. Like the music. God knows what that of all things..." he muttered, searching for the classroom he'd be reporting to first. He didn't really like being followed around like this. It made it too hard for him to ignore his surroundings and live in autopilot. Just tune everything out and hope it'd be over soon. He turned a corner, hoping the blue haired boy would just drop his attemts at conversation.

Haku was stubborn. Maybe too stubborn.
He didn't get along with a lot of people. No one thought he could defend himself and he never had against anyone but he always stood up for those who needed and he was always making an attempt to be friends with everyone even if they didn't like him. Haku was different and he had many secrets to keep. In a way he longed for a friend to share his secrets.
"I was also a transfer student. Hey what grade are you?" This 'kid' was obviously not going to give up. At all. He continued walking with Trance. They still had plenty of time to kill before school started. "Umm do you want my help finding your class room?" Truth was they had already passed it but Haku wouldn't say anything until need be. Trance didn't notice that they had passed the room.
