Some miles north of the Mountain pass, there grows a dense forest of racia trees that stretches for miles in every direction, and whose sheltering branches host a plethora of prey creatures. It's said that the racia's bark takes on a quality not seen anywhere else in the lands, that it will glow, in an eerily beautiful way when the dim starlight of the twilight hours hits their bark. Legend has it that the sight of it is enough to make a weary traveller weep at its beauty. Amongst the trees, a few yeeshu are sometimes seen winging about, but other than that, there aren't any other major predators that reside here. In parts of the forest, the underbrush becomes especially thick, and serves to make portions of it nigh unexplorable, unless one knows the land well.
In the very heart of the forest lies Mekkin, although its presence is well hidden (and defended) from all but a select group of yeeshu who make their home there. Along the easternmost borders of the forest lies The Sinister Bogs, where the ground gives way from the solid, leaf-covered dirt that makes up the forest floor in the rest of the woodland to soft, boggy swampland, and the native creatures seem to steer relatively clear of this place, since the ground is particularly treacherous unless one has explored it thoroughly enough to know where the safe paths are, and where the stinking, cloying mud gives way to sinkholes that can swallow a creature up.

An alluring Yeeshu lolls on a large branch of one of the racia trees, a cloven hoof dangling in the breeze. She glances around through lidded eyes, aware of how lovely she looks stretched out just so. Her pose, her location, even the scent marks on the surrounding trees have all been carefully planned. She is not here for a simple rest... but to confuse, to manipulate and to woo. She is good at what she does -- and she knows it. Its her amusement.

Wings beating powerfully, Stryker drew close to the forest borders, and his ever-wary eyes scanned the landscape cautiously before he landed, hoofed feet moving lightly over the ground as he slowed, ducking his head as he walked beneath a stray racia branch that had fallen to the ground. He picked his way carefully between the tree trunks, in no particular hurry to return to Mekkin, although it was already late afternoon, and the pinkish glow of sunset was streaking across the skies.
Leaning down to pick at the feathers just above his crimson hooves, Stryker lashed his tail to the side, flicking idly at a fly that was buzzing about irritatingly. Making his way leisurely towards Mekkin, Stryker was nonetheless alert for any disturbance in the forest around him, and his eyes almost seemed to glow in the fading light.
Suddenly, he stiffened, every sense aimed at the unfamiliar yeeshu lounging so casually...in HIS territory. A low hiss escaped through his beak, and he stared harshly at the female, his feathers raised slightly in an attempt to look more menacing. "Who goes there?" he said, his voice low and gravelly, as if he didn't use it often.
((sorry, I didn't see your post afore I typed my initial one up xDDD))

Jet chuckled low in her throat and thought to herself, Mmmm, lovely. Stretching up slowly, making sure to exhibit her round hindquarters to the striking male who had finally discovered her, she hopped down from the tree and slinked towards him. Brushing her tail under his beak, she purred, "I'm who I've always been..." Giving him a suggestive glance over her shoulder, she mused, "I wonder who would ask a lady such a question so rudely?" A low moany growl emminated from her and she clacked her beak twice.

A cruel smirk flashing across his harsh face, Stryker snapped at her tail, obviously unaffected by her charms. Arrogant one, this one... he thought to himself, narrowing his eyes as he gazed at her consideringly. "No more rude than one who'd enter a territory and behave as if she owns it, even though it's apparent that she has no knowledge of the place whatsoever." he said, in a rare, lengthy sentence.

Smiling as his beak nipped into her tail -- the pain felt good to her -- her eyes glinted at his words. "Yours?" she mused, sniffing the air. "All the Yeeshu scents in the air are mine, save from the rather unpleasant odor comming from your direction, so I would say this place must be mine by right. You doubt my knowledge? Trust me, hatchling, I know things you haven't even thought possible..." Her syrupy tone was gone, she knew it wouldn't work on him. This one would have to been brow-beaten into submission. She liked it that way almost more than the other...

Cawing raucously in mirth, Stryker shook his head from side to side, somewhat pityingly. "If your senses are that poor, then who am I to disillusion you?" he stated, frankly unimpressed so far, although he wasn't one to underestimate anything he encountered.
With one last swish of his tail, Stryker shifted around the irritating female, prepared to melt into the surrounding trees and disappear from her view. After all, he knew every tree root of this forest, and he wasn't one to waste his time.

Jet was not used to males turning their backs on her. Growling meanicingly, she leaped towards him, planning to land on his back and teach him a lesson.
"Disillusioned?" she squacked as she leaped towards him. "You claimed I was in your territory. I mearly chose to define the territory to our immediate area. If I'm so disillusioned, how do I know that you are headed for Mekkin, hmmm?"
((If that was your nice way of trying to stop RPing, sorry.... sweatdrop ))

((nope, not at all...Stryker's just that sort've yeeshu xDDD. ^.^))
Shifting smoothly out've the way of the irate female's leap, Stryker clacked his beak at her, a warning for those who knew him at all. "If you know of Mekkin, then you should also know that this forest, while not where we make our roost, is part of our territory also." he said sharply. "And while we're not particularly averse about others passing through, it might do you well to remember that you are a guest around these parts!" he finished, eyes glinting.

"...could'a fooled me..." Jet muttered under her breathe. Tired of playing nice, she was beginning to get a little derisive. Then, "Your eyes... they're," she cocked her head and sat down in his path, "pretty, when they glint like that." She actually sounded as if she meant it that time, instead of just manipulating him to her whims.

Blinking in surprise at her rapid change of subject, Stryker looked a bit taken aback, and tilted his head at her suspiciously. "Meh...they're just eyes...they see well enough, and that's all I ask of them." he said, obviously not one to take compliments well.
((I <3 arpeeing him...such a jerk. xDDDD))

Jet was torn between her knowledge that her comment had gotten to him somehow and her curiosity for this male. No one had ever managed to avoid her machinations for so long and it inticed her.
Sighing, she gave in a little, "I'm Jet." Simple, yet she winced as she mentally tallied the score. One point for him...

"Stryker." he replied, still distrustful of her seeming switch from borderline aggression to near-civility. "What brings you to these parts, anyway...this isn't exactly on the beaten path..." he asked, stretching his wings briskly and sending leaves on nearby branches aflutter. Idly, he noted that the sky was shifting to more vibrant shades of orange and purple, a sign that he should either be getting back to Mekkin, or begin looking for the perfect tree to use as a temporary roost.

"Stryker," she breathed, tasting it in her mouth. "What brings me here," she said with a mischevious grin, "The natives. Someone told me the company I would find would be worth the trip." She nipped playfully at the leaves he had displaced.
Her game was obviously not working, but maybe she could get him to divulge the rules to his.

Walking around her slowly, a calculating look entered his gaze--this one was up to something, and not knowing what exactly that was had him at his most wary. "Oh really?" he said, almost as an afterthought. "Last I checked, a small clan like ours wasn't really that...talked about, in other circles." he replied
