Why must we be alone?
Is their any way that we members of the guild can advertise Linux and it possibilities to the gaian public just to let them know that it is out there and it is an option because many people have never heard of open source or Linux for that matter.
*I do know that posting it in the Computer and Technology forum as a solution to a problem is considered to be spam.*Well it's real love....

It would be nice to be able to set things up, maybe even be able to link to The Linux Foundation's "We Are Linux" ad winners somewhere in the guild. As for posting the http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/c-t-tech-talk/f.91/ should be OK to post in if our Mod would post here he may be able to tell us for sure.

Isn't this what sig space is for? Just make a picture or something (up to 500x500 px) and just plop that right in there 3nodding
As for myself, I do tend to let other people know irl by word-of-mouth.

Yes we do have some banners that you can use in your sig, see the sticky about it, but sometimes they are not as effective as actually talking about it and discussing it with people. This goes along with the people who try and get people to switch to Linux just on eye candy alone instead of telling what it can really do and what is so great about it. Yes I'm guilty of showing off eye candy such as compiz and KDE 4's kwin, to people but I use that as the "icing on the cake" I also point out things it can do that would be useful to them as well as advantages of using it, both dual booted and even single boot.

I've made it so that it says ask me about my signature... hoping that others do.

Linux computers here in Mexico are getting quite popular right now, because they're dirt cheap and they're advertised as "like Windows, without viruses". (That, and piracy is totally a social institution and noone will raise an eyebrow over a clandestine Windows if they install it razz ) . A lot of people don't go for Mac OS X because it's expensive or something, even though it's UNIX-like and has very little virii and software threats. Thus, we could promote Linux's immunity against software threats and low hardware requirements.
It's like, we tell them we know a Windows-like thing that has no virii, opens your MS Word documents just fine, has its own Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger-like stuff, you just install it and it works right off the bat, and it looks much better thanks to Compiz.
Whaddya say?
