I'm working on a webcomic entitled "UNITED (whether we like it or not)".
The basic premise follows the personifications of the USA's states, playing on stereotypes, history, and strange facts. The characters who get the most attention in the comic strips will be the states of New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). New York often jumps in, despite the fact that they get annoyed with him easily. There will be plenty of the other states, too. They won't be the complete center, it will just be a little overwhelming for other people to have 50 main characters being thrown at you all at once. Not to mention that New England seems to have an interesting history...
Generally, I want to inform people of American history in a funny and interesting way. The setting will pretty much be modern day, but there will be colonial, revolutionary, and civil war arcs.
I'm preparing to launch this comic either tuesday or wednesday. The updates will be once every week, with several strips per entry. If I get into the swing of things enough, I'll go for bi-weekly updates. This is all on livejournal, since it will allow me to post more than one strip per update all on one page, while adding some footnotes. Very convenient.
Here's a quick preview page, most likely my first. Although, this was kind of the rough copy. I remade the page because it seemed off. Particularly the usage of too-chibified characters and somewhat messy inking. (I know the table/benches in the last panel are not parallel to the panel, I would have gone insane.)
THIS PAGE IS BAD. I'm not going to use photoshop for this again until I'm more experienced...

Also, I'm going to do something fun!
Give me a random state (it could be your own) and I'll tell you the basic character design of the state. Try me!
