Cross charged after Denali, fleet footed and swift over the warm earth. He was gaining on her, just barely. Though he may be stronger, his size in combination with the shorter limbs of a pup slowed him down. Cross had always found himself better at many things, but it was apparent speed wasn't his forte, yet. Stretching his strides to where he was nearly flying across the ground he pulled up just beside the dark pelted cub. A low, challenging growl rumbled in his throat and he smiled delightedly. The tree was just ahead. Awaiting them in the midday light. While Cross wasn't generally the type to pick fights or shows of strength and valor, he did tend to love a good challenge. He preferred even more that he won said challenges, but he wasn't much of a sore loser either.

Mishap
Mishap peeked his nose around the tree, trying to be stealthy. Unfortunately for the fluffy young pup, he had never been very coordinated. Tripping over his own white-tipped paws the self proclaimed putnar let out a rather girly "Ooof." Embarrassed, Mishap scrambled to his feet, green eyes flashing in recognition. "Cross! Brother, I've been looking everywhere for you!" cried Mishap happily, his goofy smile returning. In truth Mishap really hadn't been looking for his brother for too long, as soon as he woke up to find himself alone in the woods though, he sort of flipped out and raced in circles until he could calm down. Sauntering along he had also stopped to follow the trail of a small injured animal for his breakfast, and then remembered that he had been on a mission. Now that he had tracked down his companion though the dark pup was too excited to even register the presence of another.

Denali growled back as she saw him gaining on her. She leaped over a log and used the speed to move faster over the ground, hoping to gain more distance in front of the male. She saw another pup in front of them and frowned growling as she thought this might have been a trap. She charged at the tree with a snarl hoping that the two male pups wouldn't tackle her and try to kill her. She puffed up and hoped that she looked scary and the small pup wouldn't try anything with her, this big one though...she would worry about.

The Kerl pup jumped up on the log just following Denali and used it to propel him forward, closing the gap between them and straining to pull ahead. It was only the span of a moment and a few more strides that he would have done so, if not for him noticing Mishap in the corner of his eye and barking at him.
"Where have you been?" Cross yelled annoyingly, skidding to a halt and forgetting about the race. He turned and watched Denali for a moment, fancying he smelled fear, but went and walked over to his black and white sibling.

Denali made it to the tree and turned her back to it so that neither of them could take her by surprise. "Whats going on here? Was this a trap to eat me?" she asked her lips pulling up in a snarl as she growled waiting for them to attack her or something. "I will take you both on if thats what your trying to do!" she said even though she didn't say she would win, she wasn't sure she would but she would try her damnedest.

Cross turned away from staring annnoyedly at his wayward brother to look at Denali in surprise.
"What under Fenrir's moon are you talking about?" He frowned, playing an annoyed expression. Whatever this mistaken pup was saying she's lost him the moment she hit the portion about her making a good dinner. Well, if she had no parents to care for her, the scrawny thing had to have survived somehow. Although this was almost funny. "If I wanted to eat you, I wouldn't have come up with the idea of a race. That would be just like asking your prey to run away, you silly she-wolf."

Deanli frowned but didn't change her stance. She looked between the two male pups and frowned. "Then...whats going on. Why did you stop in the middle of the race." She asked as she raised her lip a little and looked between them still expecting them to attack. "Are you going to hurt me or not?" she asked with a snarl as she tried not to be so defensive.

The large pup snickered and sat down. "Of course not. Wolf meat is stringy." He joked lightly, taunting the paranoid pup. He'd never encountered anyone who jumped because another pup showed up, or freaked out to such a degree. Comical, it was.

Denali looked between the two of them with frowns as she thought about it. She had never been around many other wolves...what did he expect. "Whats so funny! I've never been around others of my own kind since my parents died! How should i trust someone i don't know? Give me a good reason i should trust the two of you or i'll kill you where you stand?!" she said with a snarl as she hoped she wouldn't have to try and kill this bigger pup.
