Name: Aria
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual - Likes Guys
Rank: Candidate, Weaver
Appearance: Dark auburn hair frames a lean, tan face and a set of steady and very open mahogany eyes. Aria's form is lean and petite and her tan skin shows of her gentlely toned body. Standing at about 5'6, Aria is a bit taller than other girls in the weyr and uses this to her advantage. Her dark hair falls to the middle part of her back and is often left in loose, wavy curls. Aria's mahogany eyes tilt upwards just slightly giving her a very exotic look. Aria's lean form appears very delicate when you first look at her but really she's very athletic from her years of travelling. More often than not, Aria is most often seen wearing form fitting clothing that is designed to show of her figure; even though she's not really aware that she's considered attractive. Her clothing is most often in darker shades like purple, black, and crimson and she often has to barter with her talents to get the dyes she needs. She also has a series of deep claw shaped scars down her back from an incident when she was younger.
Personality: Despite what her softer appearance made lead you to believe Aria is anything but sweet and gentle. Aria is bold, brash, wild and lets nothing and no one get in her way. She goes after what she wants whole-heartedly and doesn't stop to consider the consequences of her actions. Aria is never one to back down from a fight and will speak her mind in any situation. This young woman is one of those people that doesn't tolerate stupidity in those around her and expects only the best from herself. Aria is confident in everything she does and never lets the obstacles she comes across stop her from doing what she has her mind set on. No matter how difficult things get for her, Aria always pushes forward to her goal. Given her more wild nature, Aria is often akined to the spotted felines that once roamed the wilds of Pern. Aria also isn't afraid to fail; she just doesn't like to. This young woman is one that believes that hard work will get her everything she wants with time and a little patience. Aria is feircely protective of those few people she lets close to her and has even been known to provoke violence on behalf of one of her friends when someone has done that person wrong. Aria has a very strong veiw on the things she views as right or wrong; and will often get herself into dangerous situations in order to right a wrong. Despite being so confident, Aria has a serious issue with people in authority. She won't give respect unless it's earned and refuses to tolerate people who expect her to give them respect just because of their rank or status. This often sees Aria in loads of trouble with the people around her. Because she is so strongly opinionated about EVERYTHING she does, Aria often has trouble working with others because she expects them to work at her pace and to excell in their work as she does. Aria gets easily frustrated with people that see her pretty face and assume things about her. This often leads to her striking out at others, sometimes to the point of physically harming them. Aria is forever seen with something in her hands. Usually this means somethings she's working like a tapestry or sometimes a special cloth. When she's worried about something though she tends to make small bracelets that she'll then give to people she becomes close to.
History: Aria was born at Lemos Hold to a Journeyman Weaver and and Journeyman Tailor during a violent storm. Her name comes from the fact that she was born during a gentler part of a storm. The sounds reminded her parents of an aria they'd heard the day they'd met and the name stuck. Growing up in a smaller hold, Aria had no shortage of things to keep herself occupied. From playing raiders in the streams surrounding her home to hiking in the wilds surrounding her hold, Aria was always an adventurous one. Forever worrying her parents with her frequent overnight trips away from home, Aria has always tended to do things her own way. At a young age, she was introduced to both her parents crafts and took an active interest in both. She also developed the tendancy to make small bracelets whenever something worried her. Aria took to giving these bracelets to her friends whenever she made to many. Growing up, Aria loved being outdoors and was hardly ever inside even as a small child. From a young age, she tended to do things her own way and would never listen to her superiors; even the Lord Holder. This got her into more than her fare share of trouble but it didn't bother Aria for to long.
When she was about ten turns of age, she accompanied her father on a trip to their neighborring Igen Weyr. There she got to witness her first hatching. Curious and wanting a closer look, Aria snuck away from her father and out onto the edge of the sands. This turned out to be a bad idea on Aria's part. Oh the hatching started off well enough; eggs hatched, Impressions were made, then of course came the hatching of a golden queen. This is where things went terribly wrong. As the golden dragonet looked around the sands for her chosen, she spotted Aria and went to the girl's side. For a long moment the two stared at one another before the queen looked behind Aria and suddenly hissed and clawed at her. When Aria fell and rolled over to try and defend herself, the young gold jumped on top of her and dug her sharp talons deep into Aria's vulnerable back. A cry from just beyond Aria brought the gold's head up and she jumped off the girl, leaving a bloody ruin in her wake. Aria's father was quickly down on the sands and carefully lifted his injured daughter to then quickly bring her to the healers. What exactly had happened was revealed by a young woman named Kimira. The young girl, only about fifteen turns, had Impressed to the gold that had attacked Aria. What had happened was that Kimira wasn't a candidate and was actually only a kitchen worker. She'd snuck in to view the hatching and was sneaking back out when the gold; named Shoruth, spotted her. Then Shoruth, in her hurry to get to Kimira and keep her from leaving, attacked Aria to get the girl out of the way.
Aria remained at the weyr's infirmary for several long months before she was finally released. For her curiousity about the hatching, Aria now sported several long claw-shaped scars across her back to forever remind her why she should listen to her father. This didn't deter Aria for long though, didn't even scare her off dragons. Instead, it made the young girl even more determined to make something of herself and, once they made it back home, she began getting people around the hold to help her learn to defend herself. As she grew and matured, Aria took up the Weaver craft like her father and even began selling her work at gathers. Unfortunetely for her parents though, she also began acting out more. Aria was very vocal about just about every topic of interest in the hold. The high point of her rebellion came when she was only seventeen turns of age. Her parents tried to betrothe her to the Lord Holder's eldest son. What they got for their efforts was the young man in question found unconcious in a pig pen with a bloody nose and a black eye. Beyond furious, the Lord Holder then forced Aria and her family out of the hold and refused to allow them back unless Aria both apologized to his son and agreed to the marriage. Aria, of course, told the Lord Holder that his son was a foolish pig and that he himself was a foul cretin and that she'd rather be threadscored and dropped between than marry his son.
Her parents were understandably upset about all of this but when they tried to punish her, Aria ran off. Remaining in a cave in the wilds surrounding the hold, Aria waited almost six months before returning home to releived parents. It quickly became apparent to her gentle natured parents that Aria was mostly uncontrollable for them. In the end, the Lord Holder allowed the two to stay in the hold on the condition that Aria left their home and never returned. Both of them protested this but Aria only shook her head and told them she'd go. Not wanting her parents to be homeless, Aria took what few savings she'd gathered and made a trek over to Igen Weyr. Remaining their for a turn and a half so she could save more, Aria once again began travelling. Moving from place to place, Aria tried time and again to find a place that felt like home. Finally arriving at Telgar Weyr, she decided to give this new weyr a chance. Though she hadn't been Searched and not really wishing to be a candidate; as she figured she was to old, Aria was none-the-less given a room in the candidate barracks where she now resides to wait for either Telgar to feel like home, or for it to disappoint her so she can move on.
Pet(s): None Yet
Other: Aria loves to watch runners but doesn't actually like to be near them. Aria keeps a dagger hidden in her right boot that she uses to defend herself. Aria, despite her temperment, loves small children and enjoys teaching her craft to others. Aria loves making jewelry and is often seen with the beginnings of a bracelet with her so she can work on it. Aria usually makes her own clothes but doesn't like to tell others because she doesn't want to make clothes for anyone else. Despite Aria's more wild personality, both of her parents are more gentle in nature. Her mother is quiet and kind and warm to everyone she meets and her father is an obnoxiously chipper socialite that is often seen talking. Both make friends easily while Aria has a hard time doing so.
