It was boring. Shuudou-jiisan and Makoto were working and Akemi was off to play with people of her age. She had invited Nami but the older girl sure as heck wasn't about to be caught playing like a child. She was an older sister now and she was determined to act like one ... at least, in front of the younger girl. How long would she last? A day or two; she'd never been the responsible type - even when she was alive.
Reaching into the pouch Shuudou-jiisan had given her [with money, nonetheless], she quickly counted it. Well, she was getting hungry - or at least, she thought she was hungry. Right. Time to go eat something. She could easily go to the workshop and ask for food there but on second though, she didn't want to bother the old man; Makoto, yes but Shuudou-jiisan, no.
Running out of the living room, out the hallway and out the house after putting on her sandals, she quickly looked for Akemi. Upon finding her playing with other children, she said, "Oi, Akemi-chan! I'll be out for a while, alright?"
Akemi looked up at her and said, "Alright~!" before resuming to play. Nami smiled. It was a good thing the little girl didn't go with her; she'd probably not have enough money for the two of them.
She was out the streets again, wind blowing with the sky overhead. Nami looked around; there seemed to be a number of inns in Soul Society. Seemed nice - at least, some of them. She stopped, however, in front of what seemed to be a ramen shop. Ramen! It had been some time since she last had ramen. Smile on her face, she quickly entered the store, and looked around. Finding an empty table, she quickly sat on the chair, looking around and waiting for someone to get there.

It'd been a rather... Uneventful day. But then again, they'd all been pretty boring. After roughly fifteen minutes she'd finally be off work. But just what would she do when she did get off work? Life outside the shop hadn't been exciting either. Those thoughts wandered about in Chiharu's mind as she delivered orders to the customers. It was the early evening now and the customers were slowly thinning away. When she got off there wouldn't be much work left for Ken to do either. That was a good thing. She didn't like leaving behind too much work for the old man to do. After all he'd been kind enough to let her live in the spare room.
She sat on a stool not to far away from the customers after she'd delivered the most recent orders of ramen. Now she could just watch and wait for one of them to finish or for another customer to wander in. With most of her work out of the way Chiharu let her mind wander a bit. She was going to attempt to make the evening a little more exciting than the preceding ones, but how? She hadn't spent much of the yen that she'd earned working here so maybe she could seek entertainment tonight? Mm, lots of possibilities.
As she was pondering possibilities for the night she hadn't noticed someone coming in. When she finally snapped out of her thoughts and looked around she saw an extra head among the customers. Hoping off the stool she walked over to the table. To her surprise the girl sitting there seemed really familiar. "Mm, Nami-san?", she asked remembering the girl from Yoko's plan and their meeting in the marketplace.

Nami was swinging her feet which were barely touching the ground, her elbows on the table and her head on her palms. She was just waiting for someone to take her order; weren't they supposed to? Well, she'd never been in that place before so she didn't really know what to do. Not to mention, she wasn't even paying attention to the people around her.
"Mm, Nami-san?"
The voice was familiar and the owner of it even more as she looked up to face whoever it was that called her name. "Ahh it's you!" she quickly said, her head still processing whoever she was. "Chiharu, ne?" Nami figured she'll give an honorific of some sort later. For now, there were other things she needed to know of. "What are you doing here?"

Chiharu nodded. Yeah, after hearing her voice she was positive that her memory had served her correctly. "I work here.", she replied with a smile. Well at least she would be working here for another fifteen minutes or so at least. After that she could go about pondering what to do with her day. "So... Do you know what you want yet?", she asked. She paused to look around a little. From what she could see no one was done with their meal yet so she wouldn't really have to hurry with getting Nami's order.

Ah, so she worked there. Well, she didn't know that. She could remember bits about her human life and from what she remembered, employees - or at least, some - usually gave discounts to people they knew. Hopefully, Chiharu was the same, said person asking her if she wanted something.
"Oh right!" she started, crossing her arms and closing her eyes. What kind of ramen would she have? Well, that was tough... especially considering she didn't know much about them. Her father or some other family member used to order for her. She was a spoiled little kid. "Ah! How about the one with soy sauce? Um ... what was that again?" She placed her forefinger on her forehead, closing her eyes before opening it once again to face Chiharu. "Shoyu! I think ..."

Chiharu could more or less tell that Nami was new with ramen. That or it was something else entirely. Soy sauce? She could think of quite a bit of ramen that had soy sauce in it so that didn't narrow things down a lot. Oh right, Shoyu, of course. That was a fairly popular ramen among the customers. "Sure thing.", she replied keeping Shoyu in mind as she walked into the kitchen.
After a good ten minutes or so the ramen was done. She got a tray and put the ramen on it before walking back towards Nami. "Here's your ramen, enjoy~", she said before taking out a piece of paper and writing out the tab on it. She paused after writing the yen sign and pondered giving Nami a slight discount. She was a friend after all... More or less. Chiharu sighed and decided to give Nami a ten percent discount. After the writing was done she placed the tab face down by Nami's bowl.

After placing her order, Nami had proceeded to place her head on the table to wait. She was bored. Bored and tired and hungry. Yes, especially that last one. And the first one. And the middle one. She looked up, chin still on said table. Nothing interesting going on there. She looked behind her. The sun was setting. She never really got the whole concept of sunset and sunrise in Soul Society but, then again, Nami didn't care much for it. Least it made things more normal.
Chiharu came back, Nami sitting upright once again. She watched the brunette set down the tray, Nami quickly taking out the ramen bowl. Ahh, it smelled so good. Separating the chopsticks in hand, she muttered a quick, "Itadakimasu!" before quickly dipping it in the bowl, taking out a few of the ramen and placed it in her mouth. Ahhh, it was so good~
"This is so goooddd, Chihaa~!" she said in absolute delight before proceeding to eat what was left. She only noticed the piece of paper when Chiharu's hand came down on the table. Without even bothering to take a look, she finished the ramen, gulping down what was in her mouth before placing the chopsticks on top of the bowl. Noticing the piece of paper by the bowl, she took it with her right hand and lifting it up to her face. A smile spread across her face upon seeing the bill she was charged.
"Arigato, Chiha~!" she exclaimed before taking out the pouch from her obi, taking out the amount of money and placing it on the table. "Here you go!" She looked around before looking up at Chiharu once again. "What time do you close?" [ found ]

Chiharu kept tabs on the time as she served the ramen to Nami. Well, she was done with her shift for the day at least. She noticed that the sun was setting outside. It made her wonder about the Soul Society being kind of like another planet. They had the sun too right? But then again, that idea seemed just silly. They were dead so another planet would obviously not be where they were.
She smile at the comment about the ramen. It definitely was good, and in her opinion Ken made the best ramen out there. "Yeah, Ken's a really good cook.", she replied with a chuckle. She noticed that Nami was a rather fast eater, she'd gotten the ramen to her like five minutes ago and she was already done. Mm, it seemed like Nami was happy with the price of the bill, Ken wouldn't be pleased if she told him about the discount though, so she'd have to keep that to herself.
"We close at around nine, but it usually depends on if there are anymore customers around. But, my shift ends now.", she chuckled picking up the money and and the ramen bowl.

"Hmm... Ken, huh?" she muttered, contemplating, chopsticks still in her mouth. Now she just needed more of that ramen and what better way than to mooch off the person who made it? For free, at that. Chiharu had proceeded to answer her question, taking the money and the ramen bowl. Nami looked up at her. Ahh, Chiharu seemed like such a nice person - like one of those regal types. She seemed nice, too, completely unlike her older sister back at home ... not that she remembered much about her.
Folding the bill and placing it in her pouch, she hopped off the chair she was sitting on and turned to Chiharu. "Chiha~!" she started, grin on her face, "I want to meet Ken-chef-san!" What better way to get free ramen than to meet the chef indeed.

Chiharu was more than shocked when Nami made her request. Why would she want to meet him? [[ She's too innocent to realize. OTL ]] Well, Ken had always taught her to tend to the customer's request, even if it was a little silly at times. She looked around, most of the customers had left by now, leaving not many behind, and the ones that remained were busy with their ramen. Well, this way Ken wouldn't be too busy to talk, at least. "Erm... Sure, I guess that wouldn't hurt.", she replied cheerfully.
She proceeded to walk over to the counter, making sure that Nami was still behind her. "Mm, wait here for a sec.", she said to her as she went behind the counter. First she stored the money in the register before heading into the kitchen.
Ken seemed like he had time on his hands so maybe this wouldn't be too much of an outrageous request. "Ken-san, a customer wants to meet you.", she said. To her surprise he actually agreed to see Nami. Maybe was just glad that a customer cared enough to want to meet him? That she'd never know. She walked over to the entrance of the kitchen. "Nami, you can come in now!~", she called over to her friend.

Nami's smile brightened at Chiharu's reply, following Chiharu as she made her way to the counter. When asked to wait, she complied, nodding her head as she watched Chiharu move to the counter, doing ... something with it before she disappeared to what seemed to be the kitchen. Nami looked around. There didn't seem to be that many people anymore. Hands behind her, she waited, getting rather bored quickly. Ahh, when was Chiharu coming back?
"Nami, you can come in now!~"
"Really?" said Nami, brightening at that and immediately going over to where Chiharu was, stepping inside the kitchen and raising her hands in the air. "Oiii, Ken-chef-san~! I'm Nami, nice to meet you~!"

Chiharu wondered what Nami could hope to accomplish by meeting Ken. She seemed like the type of person who didn't just do things for the heck of it so she probably had an ulterior motive, she wouldn't pry though, that'd be impolite. Still, thinking about it she came to a few guesses and decided that she'd just have to wait and see what happened to confirm them.
"Ah Nami eh?", he relied with a chuckle. "Well it's nice to meet you Nami, and please, just call me Ken.", he responded offering his hand out for a handshake.

"No way I'm calling you just Ken!" she said, looking as if she was practically insulted. "You're old so of course I have to call you Ken-something!" Nami crossed her arms in front of her, looking as if that had been settled. She then took a look around, seeing the various utensils sprawled across the table where Ken was cooking. Uncrossing her arms, she walked over to what he was cooking, mood completely changed.
"Ne ne, can you cook something awesome?" she asked, smile bright on her face. "You know ... something ... awesome!" No, she had no idea what the 'awesome' was supposed to be.

Chiharu blinked at Nami's... Well she decided on calling it bluntness for now, with Ken. The old comment was rather unnecessary in her eyes, but she was fairly sure that Ken would take it as a compliment of sorts? Well that's what she hoped for at this point, the last thing she wanted was a fight between her boss and her friend.
Ken shrugged off her comments about his age, he'd live and he'd also live with whatever she decided on calling him, provided it wasn't inappropriate of course. His eyes watched Nami carefully as she looked around the meal he was cooking, making sure that she wouldn't touch something that could be better off untouched by curious strangers. "Ah yes, I'm in the process of making a special dinner for myself. In celebration of well, let's just say another successful day at work.", he replied, inwardly chuckling at his own joke.
Curiosity got the better of her as Chiharu heard Ken's words. A special dinner? Usually he'd make something fast and simple for himself so this was something different, perhaps there was a special occasion aside from the shop? She wandered over to where Nami was and looked over the dish herself, taking in all the wonderful smells that wafted from it. "Ah~ This smells amazing, Ken-san!", she said with a smile.

At the words 'special dinner', Nami's face quickly brightened up. She knew it was a good - no, great - idea to go to the ramen shop. As Chiharu wandered to where Nami was, the blonde did the same, sniffing the contents of whatever Ken was making.
"That smells great! Great!" she exclaimed, turning to look up at the chef, "Ne ne, Ken-chef-san, can I have some of this?"
