Hi, everyone. Thanks for reading my fanfic. I actually began to write this a long time ago, but because of complications with the story, I've put it on hiatus. But I'm going to post the chapters that I currently have right here. Also because of the complications, I'm writing the prequel to the story first and working on DoD second.

This story is set after 02.

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters belonging to the digimon franchize. I do, however, own a few of the characters that will appear a little later on in this story.

Chapter 1: A Familiar World

It was a dream that had been recurring for the past week and a half. She was back in the Digital World with all the others. A sort of nostalgic and wonderful dream that made her heart yearn for the days of when she was younger - being back in the digital world. Being with her digimon once more, fighting enemies such as Devimon and the Dark Masters. Such an experience as that had made such an impact on all of their lives that it was impossible to think about what they would have been like if their adventure hadn't brought them all together. They had all matured one way or another. Even she had matured from the childish personality that she had once lived her life by. She was a more popular person, and felt better about herself because of it.

Not very long ago she had looked at the new generation of Digidestined, in her heart aching for them to experience what she had when in the digital world. But she knew that it would be impossible. The D-Terminals and the portals through the computers and other areas always allowed them to return to the Real World after their missions were completed. They had never had a real chance to grow in her eyes. Not in the way that she and the others had grown at least. Spending weeks in the digital world with the others had caused them all to grow very close and she almost hated the fact that the reality of the Real World had separated them when they all seemed inseparable. The "New Generation" were close, but by looking at them she could tell that they were still children.

She had smiled at the thought of Takeru and Daisuke fighting; reminding her of when Taichi and Yamato used to fight with each other in almost the same way. Though she knew that all of Taichi and Yamato's fights were about leadership and what to do and when to do it, half of Takeru and Daisuke's fights were about Hikari. It had made her happy that they had grown at least a little from their experiences in the digital world and the experiences were similar to hers. She wished that all people could experience the exact same thing.

Yes, she wanted everyone to experience the exact same thing. Yet at the same time, she wanted to be selfish. The experience was theirs and theirs alone, and she wanted to keep the Digital World the way that it always had been. Some digimon were taking on more human traits than she had thought healthy, but knew that things would still go on in a same manor as always. But it seemed horrifying to her if anyone at any time were able to travel to and from the digital world whenever they pleased - she knew it would be totally ruined. The Digital World would never be the same. It would be total chaos if some other evil came to try and destroy the Digital World and there would be tourists running a muck all over the place. And the reason for all of these horrible thoughts was from the recurring dream that always followed.

It was of the Digital World being destroyed by humans as they traveled through both worlds as they pleased just as easily as if they were to walk into a building. Viewing the digimon as monsters and great wars would issue between the two, bloodshed and deletion until eventually the humans won and destruction was strewn throughout the Continent of Server and File Island. What would remain of the digimon would flee into the forests and live their lives like animals. She knew that some of them lived in the forest and others in villages and small communities of course, but it wouldn't be the same. How would their normal way of life go on? It was a dream; she knew, but she couldn't help but feel as though each and every time she had seen the dream that it was real. It was a terrible thought that swept through her mind - taking over her thoughts until she seemed to always be thinking about the Digital World and the events in the dream. It consumed her day, distracted her from her schooling, chores, daily activities and even friends. Her parents had gotten so worried that they had made her go to counseling. Not that it would have ever done any good.

The counselor - the one she was seeing at this very moment - was a kindly-looking middle aged woman with short brown hair, with pearls around her neck to compliment the red business-woman outfit that she was wearing. She had rather dull hazel eyes behind the glasses that she kept seated on her nose, looking at the young teenager as though she had seen so many like her before. She had read the name of the counselor several times already, as it seemed to be posted many places in the room. The room itself was rather cluttered, which made it seem smaller than it actually was. It wasn't that the room was a mess, she just seemed to have too many things for such a small room. There were small trinkets, pens and pencils all over the desk, as well as small piles of paperwork. There were also stuffed animals, and messily coloured pages on the walls that had been ripped out of colouring books. There were also boxes that had yet to be opened in small piles under her desk and near the doorway.

"So, can you tell me what's wrong?" She asked in a low voice. This voice of hers was docile and cautious, as if speaking to someone who had a rather short fuse. No doubt that she had met teenagers like that while she worked as a counselor. She tried to ignore it, knowing that it would be rude if she had told her that she would have appreciated a change in the tone of her voice.

"No..." It was a short reply and she had almost expected the woman - whom was named Mrs. Radilette - to be shocked at her reply, but looking at her now she knew that this wasn't going to be the case. She seemed almost expectant of the answer that was given, making her feel as though Mrs. Radilette was treating her like one of the more unmanageable teenagers in which she had met before. She didn't really know how to word it properly without revealing information about the Digiworld or seeming like she was insane. Though she did expect that even if she did try to explain about the Digiworld that she would be deemed insane. She knew that even people who lived in the very city where all the monsters had appeared four years ago had forgotten about it. None of them had gotten enough information or a long enough look at the digimon to really see what they were. Certainly no outsider from the city would believe. After what seemed like a long pause, she spoke again. "Its rather difficult to talk about... I don't really know what to say." Mrs. Radilette's expression immediately changed to a mask of sympathy; one in which you might expect of a counselor who was dealing with a more troubled and broken teenage girl who might have had something traumatic happen to them.

"Dear, I know that admitting to faults such as this can be hard. But for victims or misguided girls such as yourself it is always best to talk about them." She was now beginning to sound less like a professional with that statement. It began to annoy her more and more, seeing as Mrs. Radilette was merely assuming that she was traumatized by something that had happened to her.

"No, its nothing like that...It's just a dream that I was having a few times in a row. I just got a little carried away in thinking about it for the last three days, that's all. It's not really anything more than that." She didn't seem to buy it, though luckily decided to not press into the matter. The session had ended early and she had been able to convince her parents to not let her go again. It was beginning to get dark, and at last it was time for bed. It was a little early for one to go to bed. It was still only seven in the evening. But the sooner one went to sleep, the sooner that dreams would come.

///

Long caramel coloured hair blew in the soft summer breeze, and large hazel-red eyes fluttered open. Mimi Tachikawa looked around, knowing that she wasn't in her soft comfortable bed any longer. Instead, she was outside, with colourful and tropical trees and plant life surrounding her. She stood up, almost tripping over the outfit that she was wearing. She looked down, remembering that she hadn't been wearing a dress or nightgown when she had gone to bed. Her eyes widened as she looked at her body, her hands - even her head. Tan gloves, her pink cowgirl outfit and matching pink hat. It was the outfit that she was wearing the day that she had fallen into the Digiworld - the world that she was now in.

"How in the world did I get here?" Mimi asked herself as she stood up. "And how did my old clothes manage to fit me?" She looked around, trying to figure out her exact location or if she recognized anything about her surroundings. It had been a long time since she had gone to the Digiworld, and things might have changed. She became a little uneasy knowing that Palmon wasn't by her side to keep her company or protect her. With some difficulty Mimi had managed to climb up a nearby tree in order to get a better look at her surroundings. She was glad that no one else was there because of the dress that she was wearing, and having to roll them up and then tie the skirt into a large knot to her legs just under her hips in order to make it easier to move. It would have been as embarrassing as the time that Taichi and Kushiroh had ran in on her while she was in the bathroom while in the Korromon Village when it was inhabited by Pagumon. A blush came to her face from the memories. It was probably the most awkward moment of all her time being a digidestined.

She grunted as she hauled herself up to one of the top branches that could still support her weight. "I wish I had Taichi's telescope with me..." She murmured under her breath as she looked around, squinting her eyes as if that would help her to see better. A small noise of shock escaped her lips as her eyes fell upon a certain large rock structure. "That's Infinity Mountain! I'm on File Island!" She sighed, leaning against the tree trunk, closing her eyes. It was all so confusing. Just last night she had been in her own bed back in America, and then had woken up in the Digital World. It didn't look like it was in any kind of danger, but she knew that if it was then Palmon would be with her. The others would be with her as well.

"The others!" She yelped, as she quickly jumped down from branch to branch until she reached solid ground. "I wonder if they got here as well." She quickly untied the knot and let the skirt of her dress fall back down her legs before she went running through the forest. This all feels so nostalgic... I remember it like it was yesterday. "TAICHI! YAMATO! SORA! ANYONE?!" She yelled as she ran through the forest at top speed capabilities for her condition. "TAKERU! HIKARI! Koushiro, Jou..." She stopped after a while, both tired from running and for the fact that she had not gained anything by running. The only knowledge that she had gained was that she was alone. She leaned against a tree, placing her fingers on the bridge of her nose, thinking about what to do. First she had to find Palmon. If she could succeed in that, then she could be able to live at least a little more comfortably until she met up with anyone else or find her way back home. But there was one thing that she needed to do before all of that: bathe. She always had a shower in the morning before she did anything. And running didn't help with anything either. She would just have to find a place that she could go to where she could have a quick bath, dry off and then continue her search. She loved the Digiworld, but one thing that she didn't miss above all else was not having baths for at least a few days on end.

She had soon found a lake where she could take a quick dip. It wasn't like the tubs back in the Real World, but she couldn't be choosy. She slipped her clothes off, and stepped into the water. It was freezing to her warm body - which had become rather heated from the running that she had done. She bit her lip and shivered, trying to ignore the cold as she walked deeper and deeper into the lake. By the time that she had sunk her shoulders under the surface of the cold waters she heard a twig snap in the forest. She gasped and turned around to look at the forest. Most likely it was a digimon that could cause trouble for her, and she knew that she didn't want to be caught in the lake when it happened, especially since she didn't have anyone with her. She quickly got out, grabbing her clothes and a large stone. If it was a smaller digimon - even half the size of Kuwagamon - then she could probably knock it out. She knew that a lot of little annoying digimon roamed around File Island that were smaller than an elephant. With her clothes in front of her body, and the large rock in hand, she waited for any noise. At first, there was nothing but silence. They couldn't know that she was here, she hadn't been that loud when she scrambled for her things. Soon enough, she heard footsteps as they resumed their search. Her heart began to race as she heard the footfalls coming closer and closer to her hiding place behind the tree. Her hand began to shake a little as the adrenaline ran through her body. She stayed in place, though, knowing that she would be at a disadvantage if she came out before she had a need to. Maybe it would leave her alone after it found out that it couldn't see anything here. She wished Palmon was here. She wished the others were here. It was infuriating and frightening to be here in the Digital World with absolutely no one. She had been alone and away from the others before, but she was only away from the others, and had Palmon with her to keep her company.

She snapped out of her panicked thoughts as she saw a shadow appearing on her side of the tree. This was it, she was going to have to attack. She lunged out from behind the tree and screamed when she saw who it was. It was Taichi - who seemed to go a dark shade of red when he saw Mimi. He, too, was in his old clothes that he had worn back when he first came to the Digital World, and even his hair had grown out. But her reflexes were too fast for her mind to react and stop herself as she threw the rock at him. It had only been a fraction of a second, and it was too late. Taichi fell to the ground, unconscious from the blow to the head from the rock. It had only taken Mimi another second to realize what she had done, and whom she had done it to before she reacted.

"TAICHI!" She screamed, as she fell to her knees by his side. "Oh god... I didn't mean to..." She whispered to his face, tears forming and threatening to stream down her rosy cheeks. She had brushed her fingers through his hair, trying to look at the extent of the damage. She found the injury, and to her delight it wasn't that severe. There was a little cut, and he would have a large bump, but he would be fine. She could barely keep in her emotions, and wiped the tears from her eyes. She was so happy to see him, she didn't know the last time that she had been so happy to see someone in her life. She wasn't alone now; now she was with a dear friend. She stood up, wanting to dress before he gained consciousness.

Oh my god! Someone actually read my fanfic! Yay! I'm so happy!

Well, here's the second chapter of my fanfic. I hope this one will be just as enjoyable.

Slowly, Taichi's dark brown eyes opened to the sight of a campfire, and Mimi sitting beside him, her legs folded up to her chest and poking the fire with a stick. He winced as throbbing in his head soon came into realization. He placed his hand to his head, finding that it had been bandaged. Mimi turned to look over at him and smiled. "Evening, Taichi." She stated in a cheery voice. "How are you feeling?" He groaned and sat up, clutching his head in his hand.

"Like I just got run over by a Monochromon..." He murmured under her breath. Mimi gave a nervous laugh as she turned her head to face him.

"Sorry about that, Taichi... I didn't know that there were any others here. So when I heard you coming towards me I attacked... You can't find Agumon like I can't find Palmon, can you?" He nodded. She sighed, looking back to the fire. "So, how did you find me anyways? Or were you just randomly stumbling around until we met?"

"I tracked you with my Digivice." She looked up at him with an expression of shock. Digivice? She had completely forgotten all about the fact that they could track each other through the thing's use. She scrambled to get her bag and then fumbled around with the strap until she saw her digivice. A sigh of relief came from her lips as she sat back down with it in hand.

"I honestly never even looked at my purse. I had assumed that I had left my digivice back in the Real World since I went to sleep in my bed." She looked down at the device with a sort of loving expression. She was glad that she had it now. Maybe with it she could find Palmon and Taichi could find Agumon. "If you're here then I wonder if the others are as well."

"If they are then we have to find them. But what's bugging me is why we're here. If the Digiworld is in danger then why not send for Daisuke and his group. Our digimon wouldn't be much help for the really strong opponents because they can't digivolve into their Ultimate forms anymore. And even if we aren't, why can't we find our digimon? Do they even know that we're here? Maybe they're all living on Server now and we won't have any way of contacting them since it’s so far away." She nodded, becoming a little worried about the things that Taichi had said. It was killing her not knowing why she was here, or why her digimon wasn't with her. But she figured that she wouldn't be of any use to Taichi if she was tired in the morning. She had inched closer to Taichi, not as used to sleeping like this as she used to be. She knew that she would soon become accustomed to it.

Taichi watched Mimi as she had lay down beside him, figuring that she was probably a little scared, and that being near him would comfort her. His head still ached, and he tried his best to ignore it as he looked around. Everything was quiet, and the only noise that seemed to break the silence was the occasional crackling of the wood as the fire ate at it. "I'll protect you, Mimi." He murmured to her sleeping form. It became increasingly difficult for him to stay awake, as fatigue and the pain of the headache that he had tried to force him to the ground. He knew that it was too dangerous for both of them to be asleep, but it didn't seem like he really had much of a choice. He was going to pass out and Mimi was rather difficult to wake up. He lied down beside her and soon fell into a troubled sleep.

Mimi woke up the next morning and looked around. For a moment she had wondered if falling into the Digiworld had been a dream, but she soon realized that it wasn't. Taichi was still sleeping beside her, and she gave a small smile, finding comfort in having him so close. She grabbed her Digivice, wondering if anyone had maybe found their way near them since yesterday. The Digivice was silent, only showing two red dots which indicated herself and Taichi. She wanted to go and look for the others, but knew that it wouldn't be a good idea to leave Taichi there, so she waited. She began to play with her hair, trying to make it look decent after waking up. The fire had died out quite a while ago and the charcoal was still smouldering, as if desperately trying to cling to life. The day was cloudless, with streams of sunlight shining down in various places, but being blocked out by the canopy of tropical trees that surrounded them. She was glad for the shade, knowing that it would keep them cooler than they would be out in the open while looking for the others.

Taichi had soon woken up, feeling much better than the day before, though he still had a bruised cut from which the rock made impact. When she noticed that he was awake, she stood up. "I'm going to go and see if there is anyone around. I'll only go for about a mile and then I'll come right back." He shook his head and stood up.

"No, Mimi. I can't let you go alone. Especially without Palmon. We should stick together." She sighed and nodded in agreement. Thinking about it now, she was much better off having him go along with her, especially in case if something might happen. She waited for him to get ready, and watched as he stood up. She was glad that he seemed to be feeling better, and watched as he had taken off the bandages.

///

Hours had passed and there was still no sign of any other Digivices. Mimi's feet began to hurt, not being used to walking around so much. She walked a lot in New York, but even then it wasn't as much as this. She groaned and collapsed onto her knees. Taichi looked back at her, giving a little sigh. He knew that she was going to complain about the walking. Same old Mimi.

"I forgot how much walking we used to do here in the Digiworld..." She groaned, rubbing her ankle with her fingers. "And I thought that I was used to this by now..." He sighed, and took a few steps towards her, his feet throbbing in rebellion as well.

"I know that this is difficult, Mimi but we have to keep going. We haven't even eaten since the last time we were in the Real World." As soon as Taichi mentioned food Mimi's stomach growled. She blushed in embarrassment and turned away from him.

"Did you have to remind me of that? I was trying to keep my mind off of food." He laughed, feeling that his stomach was growling as well. "I suppose we should go look for something to eat before we continue our search, though..." But it seemed that as soon as she said this, a small beep went off in their digivices. Both quickly turned to theirs to see two dots flashing side by side to one another at the very edge of the screens. Though they were larger dots than what they would normally see, one also was a different colour than the normal red and was instead blue. Mimi rubbed the screen of her digivice, thinking that the colour change may have been a mistake or maybe a smudge. But when it failed to go away she realized that it was in fact the dot indicating a digivice. Though why it was flashing a different colour she didn't know.

"Odd..." Taichi murmured as he looked at the digivice. He noticed though that the two dots then vanished from sight and back in the opposite direction from whence they came. He glanced over at Mimi, not wanting to lose whoever it was. "Let's go!" He dashed from the spot that they had been standing at and through the forests at top speeds. He glanced at his digivice for as long as he dared while running, dodging trees and bushes that he almost ran into when he glanced for too long. As soon as he began to move in the direction, the dots had appeared once again, and to his delight began to move closer to the two dots which indicated himself and Mimi.

Mimi on the other hand was not as fast of a runner as Taichi, plus the fatigue from walking for all that time had also slowed her down. When she had lost sight of her fellow digidestined, she panicked and raised her digivice to her face. Even if she couldn't see him, at least she would have comfort knowing that she could follow him with his signal. But even then, she would fall farther and farther behind. That was no good! He wasn't even looking back to see if she was keeping up - probably expecting her to and assuming that she was. As she noticed that his signal was even farther away she stopped and shouted his name.

Hearing Mimi's scream stopped Taichi in his tracks, thinking that she might be in danger. But why did her voice sound so far away? He looked back, and noticed that she was nowhere to be seen. He looked back at his digivice and noticed that her signal was rather far behind. He cursed under his breath, angered that he didn't notice sooner. He waited for Mimi to catch up, feeling relieved when she finally came into sight. He noticed that she was panting, and rather slow moving. She didn't do as much physical activity as he, so naturally she wouldn't be as fit. He quickly looked back down at the digivice, hoping that the dots hadn't moved further away since he had stopped. He was in luck, for it didn't seem like they had moved very much at all. He wouldn't be able to run and catch up with them as soon as he wanted to. Especially not with a fatigued Mimi tagging along. He couldn't help but think that it would have been better if he had met up with Sora instead. She didn't complain like Mimi had, plus she was in as fit a stage as he. He would have been able to reach the others in a much shorter period of time than the time in which he would reach him with Mimi on his tail. Still, he was still sort of impressed with Mimi in the fact that she had tried to hold her rather obvious complaints in. It wasn't like her, but he figured that she knew that this probably was something too important to do to complain enough to have him stop. Even so, he waited until a few minutes went by. He then held his hand out to her, to help her up. She took it, feeling a little better after a short rest.

"Come on, we have to hurry or we will lose them." He told her, as he began to move again. Mimi had groaned and began to follow him, watching as be had begun to pick up some speed. She had noted how he wasn't moving as fast as he was before - most likely to help her to keep him in sights. She felt a little uneasy. She was slowing Taichi down and felt a little uneasy because of it. He was an athlete, and could run much faster and for longer periods of time than she could. Her body wasn't built up for running long distances. It wouldn't be wise though to tell him to keep going as fast as he needed. They were getting closer, even at this speed. Plus it would probably only turn into an argument if she spoke up about it.

But she seemed to get a small burst of energy when she saw that the two dots were getting rather close to her own and Taichi's. She had caught up to Taichi, which seemed to shock him a little. They were so close. Soon, very soon they would be with two more of their friends. She moved through a few thick branches of pines along with Taichi, and almost ran into someone unexpected. It was a boy with neatly cut black hair, and gentle blue eyes. He wore a rather plain gray outfit, which Mimi personally thought was rather boring, though it seemed to suit him well none the less.

"Ken!" She yelped, taking a step back, and bumping her back against Taichi's chest. The second digidestined was beside him, Taichi's goggles still on his head just like always. Daisuke looked over to Mimi and to Taichi, rather surprised to see them. "Daisuke!"

"Mimi? What are you guys wearing?" He said, rather surprised to see them in such outfits. Daisuke had noticed that Taichi had a blue headband over his head, though that was it. He figured right away that it was meant to accompany his goggles - the goggles that he had given to him.

"These are the clothes that we wore when we first came to the Digiworld." Taichi explained. "Though it’s strange that we're wearing them now that we're in the Digiworld." He was more concerned at the moment through with why Daisuke and Ken were here in the Digital World also without their digimon. Could it be that all of the Digidestined were here? If so, it still left so many questions left to be answered.

"If we're in the Digiworld, then why aren't our digimon here with us? Where's Veemon?" Daisuke seemed a little freaked out from this fact. Taichi grabbed onto his shoulders to calm him down. This was their second day in the Digital World, and he could tell that the two younger boys were rather freaked out. Never had they spent time alone without their Digimon - especially not overnight.

"Calm down!" He ordered him, glaring at Daisuke for a moment. "We don't have time to be wasting on complaining and worrying. We have to find the others." Daisuke looked up at Taichi with admiration. Slowly, he slipped off the goggles that the older teen had given him, handing Taichi his goggles back.

"Here... The leader shouldn't have to lead without his trademark." He smiled at his mentor and took a few steps back, knowing that it wasn't really his place now that Taichi was there. It would be difficult for the Digidestined to have two leaders, and it would of course make more sense for Daisuke to back down for the older and more experienced Taichi. Especially in such a situation. It had been a hard choice to make, but Daisuke knew when it was his time to back down. Besides, he knew that Mimi would probably gossip to Hikari if he was being immature, and that certainly wouldn't be good for his chances at getting Hikari to be his girl! If he acted more like an adult, Hikari would surely be impressed and maybe fall for him!

"Thanks, Daisuke." Taichi said, as he placed his goggles on his head. Mimi smiled, feeling that his outfit was now definitely completed. "I suppose we should continue further into the forest and closer to Infinity Mountain in hopes that maybe the others had gotten the idea to go there, too." Mimi nodded and began to walk.

"Wait, hold on a second. Infinity Mountain? Where's that?" Taichi laughed as he looked at the two younger Digidestined. Mimi stopped in order to wait for his response for the two. She had noticed that Ken had been rather quiet this whole time. He was most likely taking in the scenes. File Island was definitely a much more vibrant and tropical-looking place than Server.

"I suppose that you guys haven't been here before. This is File Island, Daisuke. This is the place where the others, Mimi and I came to when we first entered the Digiworld. It’s quite a long ways from Server, though." He then pointed to the large distinctive mountain that was the center of the island. "That there is our destination."

"And I thought that the Digiworld was only one big continent..." He murmured under his breath. He shrugged it off, taking in this newfound information and followed Taichi and Mimi deeper into the forest.

Ken was intrigued by the scenery around them. There weren't many forests like this in the Digital World that he had come to know. The digimon that he had seen seemed to be so content and peaceful here. They didn't seem any different than the digimon living on Server. But if the others were on Server and none were on the island, then how would they get to Server? Taichi had said that it was a long ways off. Surely they couldn't just raft all the way there. It would take weeks. Ken's thoughts were interrupted as he saw the others getting farther and farther away. His thoughts had occupied most of his thinking, and hadn't noticed that he had slowed his walking in order to concentrate.

I don't normally critique fan-fiction, because I always get into fights about the originality and all that jazz, that and the fact I have no idea what this is... XD

So... anyways.

Especially, ESPECIALLY in fan-fiction it is very important for you to paint and even DEEPER picture of the characters than in just regular writing. Such as, at the beginning.

You assumed we all knew how she was back when she was younger. But I have no idea. Perhaps you could spend a little time discussing the her new dynamic nature and character? Like, what she was more like as a youngin'? Just a suggestion more than anything..

You used the enter twice rule, good girl! Ugh, soo annoying trying to read through one solid paragraph.

But you know your characters and the story and that is what is important. Good job. ^^

To: ..s.k.i.t.t.l.e.s.. - Thanks for reading my story, though the critique was a little vague. I meant the beginning to be so that you didn't know who it was at first. Possibly a weak attempt at a different style of intro writing. In fanfiction, you also do kind of have to assume that the reader is a part of the fandom and has seen Digimon, because ultimately, it is those people you are writing this for. I will take into consideration of your concerns though; though it might take a while if I do this with every character...

To: little_neko_gurl - It's alright. Mistakes happen. At least it was resolved.

Chapter 3... I was thinking for a long time about doing a little revamping of this fanfic. I always felt unsatisfied after the third chapter came out. Like I was rushing it. So, when I do look over this fanfic, I will definately repost the chapters here when they are worked on.

Koushiro Izumi’s eyes slowly opened to see the clear blue skies above him. He could feel humidity all around him, and the cooler grainy feeling of sand beneath his body. Sand? He slowly sat up, shaking the sand from his hair. A confused look came to the face of the young boy as he felt his fingers comb his hair. It had seemed to grow quite long from the short buzz that had been only starting to grow out. Was he still dreaming? It was most likely a possibility, since he remembered going to bed the previous night. He lowered his hand, which came to rest on something hard – something familiar. He looked down to see his old laptop. It was outdated – over four years old, though he kept it in storage for sentimental reasons from his time in the Digital World. What was it doing out here now? A little frightened, he turned his head in the other direction, and was relieved to see a forest. At least he wasn’t stuck in the middle of the desert, but there was something rather odd and yet at the same time familiar about the flora and trees. In the branches and shrubbery were signs pointing in all directions – signs next to exotic-looking plants that he had seen somewhere before. It was then that he realized that this was no dream, and gained a very good idea at where he was at the moment, though he still couldn’t figure out how he got to where he was.

“What in the-” He murmured as he stood up to his full height. He looked down at himself to see the familiar brown shorts and orange shirt that he wore during Summer Camp four years ago. Despite having had a major growth spurt during the four years, the clothes seemed to fit him perfectly, as if they had grown and expanded with him as a second skin.

Some distance away, he could see the still sleeping form of his fellow digidestined, Yamato Ishida. It was clear that Yamato hadn’t woken up yet, which would mean that he would soon face the same shock as he did when he woke up. He picked up his laptop, moving towards the direction of his friend, wanting to be near him when he awoke.

Yamato’s blue eyes opened to stare into the face of none other than Koushiro. He gave a yell of surprise as he sat up. “Koushiro, what are you doing in my…” His words faded as he looked around. “…Where are we?”

“My guess is that we’re in the Digital World.” The younger boy stated. “Though I have no idea why we’re here, or why we’re even in our old clothes for that matter.” Yamato looked down to see that he was wearing his old jeans and sleeveless green shirt that he had worn on the first day of Summer Camp. He hadn’t seemed to notice that his overall appearance besides his clothing had changed overnight. The teen idol now had his hair gelled back to it’s former state from when he was younger, which seemed weird and yet nostalgic to Koushiro at the same time. It was then that Yamato had noticed that his friend was in the same clothes that he had worn, and that his hair had grown out as well. He held his gloved hand up, and felt the gelled hair had moved out of place since the night before. He then looked up at the younger boy.

“Where’s Gabumon?” Yamato asked, looking around for his digital partner.

“They don’t seem to be waiting for us this time.” Koushiro said; a little disappointed that he couldn’t see Tentomon. “But hey, we should move into the forest and look for the others before we get sun stroke. Who knows, maybe Gabumon and Tentomon are there, somewhere and waiting for us.” The blonde nodded, standing up and shaking the sand out of his hair and off of his clothes. Neither boy knew if the others were even in the Digital World, though both knew it was crucial for them to look. Koushiro quickly grabbed his laptop and followed Yamato into the forest.

Hours passed and there was still no sign of anyone. Both Koushiro and Yamato were feeling the fatigue of walking on empty stomachs. Yamato’s digivice then began to beep, which had startled both of the boys. He grabbed it from his pants, which the digivice was strapped to. A look of confusion came to the teens' face as he looked at the small screen of the device. He remembered they would use the digivices in order to find each other, but it was the first time he had seen the blip in a different colour. It was moving fast in the same direction that they were going, though at a much more rapid speed than they could follow. Koushiro had also made a grab for his digivice, but by the time he gazed upon his own screen, the digivice was silent, and the screen was blank, devoid of all movement. He placed his digivice back and looked at Yamato.

“We’ve been walking for most of the day. We should find some food and water soon or we’ll be in trouble.” Yamato nodded in agreement to his friend. With the statement both boys realized just how hungry and thirsty they were. It was as if they had just come to the realization of the rebellion that their bodies were giving them due to finally having their attention drawn. Their mouths had become dry and their empty stomachs growled every couple of minutes.

It was only a few minutes after the statement that the boys stumbled upon a clearing, though it was what occupied the clearing that interested them the most. In the middle of the clearing was an assortment of fruits and other food. A majority would have high concentration of juices, and on top of that on either side of the pile were bottles of water. They couldn’t believe their eyes. The food before them would be able to sustain them for the rest of the day, and what they didn’t eat they could take along.

Most people would naturally be wary of such an assortment. But the hungry teens knew better than to let an opportunity for a meal in the Digital World slip by. If they didn’t eat whatever edible food they saw, they would starve. There was no doubt in either of their minds that someone had collected the food, and the owner of the food was most likely not going to be too friendly. They would have to eat and drink their fill, gather what they could and leave as quickly as possible.

They sat down and began to eat. After eating two pieces of fruit, Koushiro began to fill his bag with food and water. He would have to carry his laptop, but it would be worth it for when they were hungry again. It would also be useful for if he and Yamato met up with anyone else, and they had been unsuccessful when it came to finding food. And it seemed that just as Koushiro finished filling his bag that their digivices rang out again. Yamato dropped the food and reached for his, Koushiro leaning over his shoulder with a mouthful of food in order to look.

The digivice was alive once again, though this time with normal dots. Without a word to each other, they grabbed handfuls of what was left of the food and then stood to move towards their comrades. The dots that represented their friends were also moving towards them. They would not have to rush, and the teens both knew or at least figured that their friends saw them. This was especially convenient for Koushiro, as he had to carry the food that he had in his bag as well as his laptop in his arms. As if watching something very interesting, Koushiro kept his eyes on the two approaching signals, frequently glancing up so that he wouldn’t run into anything.

Yamato had a relieved look on his face. If all of the other digidestined were here as well, then they would definitely be able to find out something about why they were here. Though, there was also a chance that the two they were to meet knew about just as much as they did. Koushiro, meanwhile, jumped as he looked up from his digivice only to find that his face was inches away from the trunk of a large tree. He sighed as he placed his digivice back onto his bag, figuring that it was best to just keep his concentration on walking. Yamato just wanted to get to his friends, just wanted answers. It was driving him nuts, both not knowing, and reminding himself that he didn’t know just to ask the same questions over and over again. As he kept thinking of the possible reasons why he began to hear the rustling in front of him that indicated their friends were near.

Sora burst out of the bushes, followed by Jyou. She hugged Yamato in her delight, having been scared that they would never meet up with anyone. Jyou merely smiled at his younger friends, allowing Sora to express both of their happiness.

After the greetings ended they sat down where they were, and Koushiro handed them a few pieces of fruit each. Neither Sora nor Jyou knew anything more than the two boys had, as they had learnt through the conversation during the new meal.

“What I find rather strange is the last time our digivices activated.” He said to his older friends. “From what Yamato told me, the signal was different than what it normally is.”

“Do you think it could have been one of our digimon?” Sora asked. “I mean, if the signal was different it could have indicated that it wasn’t human.

“In any case we should keep moving.” Jyou spoke up, pushing his glasses into place. “If the others are here on File Island then we should try and find them. Maybe we should start on Infinity Mountain.”

“That will bring back memories…” Sora murmured. “Like a ‘Return of Devimon’ sort of thing.”

“Well if we go there, we can go to the other side of the island. Or we could split up and come back with whomever we find.” Koushiro suggested, taking a logical approach to the situation. If they split up they could possibly find more people, and returning back to Infinity Island would be a landmark that they couldn’t loose sight of. Yamato frowned at his suggestion.

“We split up a lot the first time we came to the digital world. You think it’s wise to do it again?” Koushiro sighed and nodded in agreement. He had yet to weigh the disadvantages over splitting up. “Besides, there’s safety in numbers. If one of us got attacked, it would prove dangerous – especially without our digimon.” The others fell into silence under the words of their new, temporary leader. It seemed unanimously decided, even though no one spoke a word. It had always felt as though Yamato was second in command to Taichi during their first adventure. They then stood and began to head in the direction of Infinity Mountain.

The hours passed, but the only rest the four of them seemed to have been was the occasional stop and a few pieces of fruit. By the time they reached the foot of the mountain, half of the food in Koushiro’s pack was gone and the digivices began to activate once more and they all took their digivices out. There were two different signals; one was on the other side of the mountain, while the other was apparently on top of the mountain. Both of the signals had four dots each, indicating that both groups had four members, although the group at the base of the mountain had two which were strangely coloured. Judging from the direction that the dots were moving to, it seemed that their companions would prefer to meet up with them first rather than scale the mountain.

Taichi and Daisuke were the first to appear over a ridge from a recent rockslide that had occurred over that particular area of the mountain. Ken and Mimi were right behind them, Ken helping Mimi over the rocks, helping her to keep her balance as she struggled to stay on her feet as the rocks threatened to crumble beneath her.

“So you’re here, too, huh?” Yamato said, as he greeted Taichi by gripping his hand.

"Of course I am. And by the looks of it, Hikari, Takeru, Iori and Miyako are here as well.”

“So I guess the only thing that we have to worry about now is getting up Infinity Mountain, right?” Mimi sighed, as she sat down on a rock. “What a pain…” Yamato couldn’t help but smirk. It was the same old Mimi.

“I’ve been able to calculate the terrain around the area, and have been able to locate the safest route in order to get to our destination.” Koushiro stated, loudly, able to grab everyone’s attention. He was typing so furiously on his keyboard, though, that the noise from the tapping was almost as loud as his voice itself.

“Then I say lets go.” Sora said, as she waited for Koushiro to guide them along the proper route. He stood up, and staring mostly at his laptop with only brief glances at where he was actually going, he began to walk towards the path that his computer had chosen.

It had taken the most part of two hours to get to the summit, though whom they saw there they weren’t exactly expecting. Hikari and Takeru were there, and unlike the other original eight digidestined, they weren’t wearing the clothes that they had on four years ago but the clothes that they wore whenever they came into the digital world with Daisuke and the others. Strangely enough, it wasn’t Miyako and Iori that were with them, but two blondes. The first was male, with short pale blonde hair and soft blue eyes. Koushiro and Daisuke knew this digidestined was none other than Willis, but none of them seemed to recognize the other one. She was the same age as the second grouping of digidestined, with silver blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. Strangely enough, both she and Willis had their partners with them – both of them carried twin digimon.

The girl’s digimon were peculiar in the sense that none like them were seen before. One of them was just a small brown ball with a beak and large emerald green eyes. It had a small tail that resembled that of a lion’s. The second one was a tiny dragon no larger than a domestic cat. It also had large green eyes, and soft green skin. The one thing strange about the small Fresh digimon was that it had a gold collar around it with a yellow gem and floating around the dragon was a small orb. It was highly detailed for a fresh digimon.

The girl herself wore mostly blue. Tattered and torn jeans had seen better days, as even though they were badly torn, they had even been torn into shorts and then sewn together with different a different shade of jean bottoms (which was of a baggier brand). Her shirt was thin and elastic, sleeveless and hiding under a darker jeans vest overtop.

“Who are you?” Taichi asked. “Where are Miyako and Iori?” He didn’t understand. If the digidestined were supposed to be here, then where were the other two? Why were Willis and this girl in their place? Or were they still somewhere on the island other than Infinity Mountain?

“They aren’t here.” Hikari told her older brother. “They’re still in the Real World.”

“Why, though?” Takeru asked. He was the second one to appear on Infinity Mountain and find this new digidestined along with Willis – Hikari being the first. The girl stood up, making everyone look at her. She stated to answer their questions, starting with Taichi’s.

“My name is Alissa Angels. You’re all here because you all have something that Iori and Miyako don’t have – crests.”

“But they do. Our crests are now in the form of Digieggs, which was given to them and Daisuke.” Sora stated. “We don’t have the power.”

“And even if the original eight Chosen Children have crests, that don’t explain why Ken, Daisuke and I are here.” Willis told her. “You said that Iori and Miyako didn’t have crests, but neither do we.”

“Yeah, unless if you have some kind of alternate plan in store for us.” Daisuke muttered as he sat down beside Hikari. He himself was a little surprised that she hadn’t noticed that he had given back her brother his goggles. Ken on the other hand knew that he at least had a crest. He gained it a little while after he gave up on being the Digimon Emperor.

“You do have crests. Yours and Daisuke’s are still dormant in the form of the Digieggs of Fate and Miracles. As for Ken, he has the Crest of Kindness. I have the Crest of Faith.” She looked at each of the digidestined, checking each of their faces to see that they understood. “A few friends of mine have gone to Miyako and Iori’s apartments respectfully and have given them a choice that I am about to give you, Daisuke.” She continued, walking over to the surprised teen. “You must release the power of the Crests of Courage, Friendship and Miracles and choose which form and Digivolution path that you want your digimon to take.” She took out her digivice, which was the exact same model as the original eight. Daisuke took out his digivice as well and held it up. Alissa waved her digivice over his, and holograms of the eggs appeared before him. There was one that he had never seen before.

It took the shape of the Digiegg of Courage, though it was light blue in colour. It also had a little yellow V just above the horn, and the X of XVmon below it as well as a single wing of XVmon’s. He guessed that each of them represented all of Vmon’s possible evolutions, and by choosing an egg, that would be his choice. He saw all four of the choices that he had, and after a long time, he finally chose the digivolution path that he felt would be best for Vmon.

((A/N: I fixed a few mistakes I found. Also, if anyone was curious, here is the egg that I described in the last paragraph. It's a little extra that I did for the story to help me keep interested. I find that if I do extra projects related, it keeps me eager.))

I meant more so about the main character. But as there is now more to read, I am able to see her character more. So there is no need for change. For a fanfiction that I have never heard of, you did a wonderful job. And for me, who LOATHES fanfiction... that's a pretty damn good compliment. ^^
