Hush little baby, don't say a word...
Lonely. So very lonely. He wondered why they all seemed to hate him. There wasn't a moment when he didn't wonder.
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird...
"The crib! The crib is empty!"
"What?! No!!! That bassinet held the N-s' child! The Maternity ward is the most guarded ward in the hospital! How could they get through?!"
"Ms P-!!! Ms P-!!! We can't find T-! We lost her at the creek!"
"What, no! My child! Find her! Get the police, anyone, somebody!"
And if that mockingbird won't sing...
The police approached the house slowly. They said to themselves that it wasn't because they feared the derilict building, the way it was silhouetted in the moonlight. No, they weren't scared. They couldn't alarm the suspect into fleeing.
They continued to tell themselves that even after hearing echoing laughter, eeriee and high pitched, sounding almost spectral, nonexistent in the night...
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring...
"Freak!"
"Monster!"
"What sort of twisted mind do you have?!"
...Why did they never understand...?
And if that diamond ring turns brass...
"Hello, and welcome to the six o' clock news. Our top story is something that has many in an uproar. Parents across the county are becoming more and more worried as the rate of kidnappings suddenly climb over a period of weeks. Police are baffled by the sudden unexplained increase, as none of the abductions are seemingly related. Young children of all ages are being taken, from newborns stolen from hospital bassinets to ten year olds playing at creeksides."
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass...
That mad voice-it was no longer laughing, but speaking-no, screaming. The police stopped, not wanting any noise to interrupt what that voice was saying. Never mind that they were too frightened by its tone to move. Never mind that.
And if that looking glass gets broke...
They were scared because they didn't understand. He knew now. He knew. What fools. What complete and utter fools.
Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat...
"Hey, Captain."
"Yes, Sarge?"
"About those kidnappings. I think there's a relationship."
"How could there be? The timing is completely random. So are the targets, the genders, the ages. Even the locations are odd-some are crowded, some are deserted. There's not even a motive established for any of them. There've been no ransoms put out, nothing. What connection could there be?"
And if that billy goat won't pull...
"Come children! Come to me!" the ghastly voice cried, a leader calling its servants. "Come to Papa!"
"...Captain?" The voice was whispered, barely heard, a puff of wind blowing over the grass.
"Yes?"
"...Wasn't our suspect supposed to be living alone?"
Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull...
No one understood him, so what was the point of trying to make them understand? He was the only one who understood himself...he would live alone.
And if that cart and bull turn over...
"But look Captain! The locations, they are linked...look at this."
Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover...
"Children, come to Papa. I must warn you...there are bad men outside."
The police stiffened. The suspect knew? How could he? It was the dead of night, completely dark, and they had moved silently...
And if that dog named Rover won't bark...
No good. It was no good. Lonely. So lonely. So very lonely. He needed company. He needed people to understand him. He needed people who would be linked to him forever, like family.
But no one would take him...
...so he would make a family that would.
Papa's gonna buy you a horse and cart...
"Look. The locations. They seem to not be related, but if you place them all on this map, they make a circular pattern. And the center of the pattern is...here..."
"That house? That's just an old coot living there alone, a recluse. ******** insane too, gone completely bonkers. He's an eccentric old man."
"The kidnappings themselves are eccentric, sir."
And if that horse and cart fall down...
"They are bad men. They want to break our family. They want to take you away from me, away from your loving Papa. You cannot stop them. You must run, children. Run. It is better for you to leave on your own, grow up, than to be pulled away from your home, from me. It is better. Free yourselves on your own terms. You will never see Papa again, so leave now, and make your memories of leaving happy, with hope, instead of making them saddening, memories of being torn away, separated. Run children. Be free!"
"Sir, we have to move, now! This sounds like he's our suspect. We can't let him or the children get away!"
At once, the police stormed the house, crashing through the door. They stopped, hearing a gurgling sound like laughter.
With horror, they found the suspect on the ground, his body mangled, his throat freshly slit. Warm blood was still oozing from a vein from his neck, bubbling and popping as he gurgled final words.
"Yes, child! My precious child! What a wonder, what a genius you are! Thank you, my child. Thank you for giving me my peace..."
And his eyes looked upwards, blank, unseeing, as his body gave a final shudder, going still.
The men looked. Had he committed suicide? But no...there were dark tendrils retreating away from him-were the shadows moving?
No...there were people in the shadows. Hiding from them, scared. They moved around, surrounding the men with a ring of darkness. All they could see were eyes peering out at them, blinking brightly. The silhouettes were small and numerous, pressing on like some large mass. They were chanting.
"Papa...papa...papa...bad men, bad men..."
And one stepped forward, making the police recoil in horror.
She was young, only six, but horribly mutated. An eye was missing, replaced with some...thing, looking wild and feral, her spine was protruding from her back, the bones extended like wild fins, her limbs mangled and wavering. She looked at them fearfully.
"Are you the bad men?"
You'll still be the sweetest baby in town. ----------------
You are one of these children. You have been kidnapped, experimented on so that your body and mind has changed. You no longer appear fully human, but you don't seem to mind-this seems normal to you, now. Your thoughts are new, twisted in some sort of way, the extent unknown even to yourself. Your papa is gone, leaving his final words. What will you do? Will you follow his words? Or will you follow these "bad men" who look at you with as much fear as you feel, who say that they want to help you?
You don't know the future. You don't know what to do. And how could you? You are only a child.
A child who has suddenly lost everything. A child who is now alone in the world, having nothing but your "family", children who are only held together by your now dead Papa and are now as lost and alone as you. A child who-though you don't know it yet-is completely different from the rest of the world, a child that is, for all intents and purposes, no longer of the normal world, a child that some will no longer consider a child, or even human.
What will you do? How will you survive? It is all up to you.
Come, child. Come...and live. ~~GM note~~ credit for this goes to Artemis ~~GM note~~

The police looked in horror at the girl-monster at their feet. This creature, what was it? Was it one of the stolen children? Had...had they killed their captor, seeking freedom?
One of the more excitable men, frightened by her appearance, aimed at her with his pistol. She froze up in terror, tears building up in her eyes.
"Don't come any closer, fiend, or we'll shoot!"
"Stand down!"
But the officer didn't listen...
"I SAID, STAND-"
It was too late...the bullet was fired...the girl let out a ghastly cry, screaming in terror.
There was a spark, a clang of metal, and the bullet fell to the floor, inches from the girl's face. The little one let out a bawl and hugged the person next to her, who had seemingly popped up out of nowhere-they had actually come when everyone's attention was fixated on the girl and the officer.
The person next to her was a woman, roughly twenty years of age. Her figure was hauntingly beautiful, with pale skin, rounded, silver eyes that seemed like molten pools of steel, framed with a face of long black hair. The figure was mostly hidden beneath an elegant white shirt, decorated with lace, and fastened with thick black belts at the waist and upper arms; as well as a long grey skirt, long enough to let the small white feet encased in black slippers show themselves barely. A white apron finished off the look, giving her a rather homely appearance.
However, the scientists were frighitened. The silver eyes seemed to glow in the darkness reflecting light like metal. Fastened to her back were large, metallic wings, folded around her and the girl in a protective gesture. The wings slowly extended, regally, and the woman raised a large knife in front of her, clearly threatening the officers despite the easy, loose grip that held it. The sleeves fell back some, making the officers gasp in horror as they realized the knife had a special handle that branched off and seemed to attach itself to the woman's wrist, making it so that she didn't really have to hold it-explaining the light grip. The knife itself was staned with a thick, glutinous, crimson liquid...
The woman spoke. She had a deep, regal voice, that matched the quality of some of the most enchanting actresses. However, despite the beauty of the voice, there was a chill behind it that froze the officers, leaving them with a sort of helplessness.
"If you make one more move to harm our family, you will suffer the consequences."

Elise stood in the background pushing the younger children behind her. She could feel Ida's grip on her skirt and she put her hand on her head to calm her. they have to leave Elise, if they dont then we are in trouble. you dont think I know that? I can not leave Elise, you can but I am stuck here in this machinery. If they find me and kill me you die also. Elise had a shiver go up her spine and Ida sinced her fear causing her to be even more scared. She pushed the children farther behind her in hopes that if the police attack that they would be out of harms way. She glanced over to Alpha and then back to the police. Go away, please

Victor was slowly walking out of the shadows where he had been hiding, his dark eyes staring at the police who just had tried to shoot. The fact that he wore a gasmask made his breathing very loud and gave away a frightning effect, not to mention it changed his voice in the same way when he spoke. "Why are you here? Victor do not see a reason for you to come here..." He said and tilted his head. The more he came out in the little light in the room the more of him could be seen. He seemed to wear a leather jacket with only one sleeve, with that a pair of black jeans with a thick belt to it in the same color. On his right arm there was a tattoo, but in this light it was hard to see what it was supposed to be. This far it seemed to be a symbol of some sort. However... This boy had something that stood out aswell, besides the gasmask, it was one black wing that almost seemed to be broken and was filled with holes. "He wants you men to leave... Father would not like to have people like you around." He said, his dark eyes never leaving the police, Victor didn't even blink once. He slowly turned his eyes to his "siblings". He was still staring like before but somehow it seemed softer. "Isn't it bed time for the small ones? Victor think they better go and sleep, we older ones will take care of this."

"Yes Victor," Alpha said, serenely, surprising the officers with her sudden change in tone. She now sounded like the average everyday mother. "The little ones must be spared from this. Off you go..." she cooed to the little ones. The six-year old who had nearly been shot by the bullet shivered, casting another frightened look at the officers before running off. Several of the other younger children followed, running up the stairs, some still peering from the banisters.
"Wait, we-" The officer was cut off by a cold, steely glare from Alpha, who held the knife up again. The crimson liquid glinted brightly off the blade...
"Now, what reason do you have for trespassing on our domain? You are the men of the law, correct? We have done nothing wrong. We only want our family to live alone, in peace.

Calvain walked calmly from an adjacent room standing alongside his "family" making a slow forward advance on the officers. "Yes..why have you come here, We cause no problems for your people why do you continue to intrude on whats left of our shattered home?" He glared with his one good eye as he continued to advance. Beginning to unlace his patch on his left eye he stopped, and looked back at Victor and Alpha for a brief second then shook his head, and looked forward at the police again. "So why are you here, and if you don't have a good reason..I suggest you leave now before more blood is spilled."

At Calvain's last saying Elise jumped. Ida had gone upstairs and she was grateful for not having to keep watch over her. She took a deep breath to calm herself now that most of them were safe, but then again with these new intruders... "Do you have a permit to be here?" She stepped forward from the shadow, still half hidden. Even though she was the only one in the house to be.. "normal" by their standards she thought herself ugly, a freak because she didn't have a deformity like all the others. "if you don’t have one then you have no right to be here at all." Elise, if they leave they will tell others about us. They will find a reason to get a permit and come back, they will take the children from the house. Father warned us. They.. they mustn’t leave... they can't leave. Elise felt a chill run thought her body but it was a warm chill, a familiar chill. Her eyes turned green and Eliza was now in control. "As a matter of fact officers, this is private property here. And you are in fact trespassers." she glanced down to his hand where the gun was. "The law states that if we are in fear of our lives we have the legal right to kill. You almost shot our sister. We are in fear of our lives." She gave a grin.

"Eliza no we can't sick to their level...unless they go there first." Calvain snapped with a calm demeanor. All he was interested in now was protecting what family he had. Taking a few steps back with the rest of the older ones keeping his eye on Eliza, and his other one on the police.

The feel of being in a movable human body was the best feeling in the world. She streached her arm out to bullet on the floor, pointing at it, and kept it there while she turned to look at Calvain. "unless they go first? Doesn't that pertain to what you are talking about?" She turned her head looking at all the people in the room. She was just using it as cover to move around but to the police it would just look like she was trying to watch everyones moves.

"Victor thinks that we should wait... Lets see what the men here have to say to thier defense. Unless they give him a really good one, Victor will take them to his chamber...." Victor said and returned his eyes to the officers again. When he had said "his camber" he meant his room that was a gas chamber, with air that no normal human could breath. He had been given it so he wouldn't always have to wear the gasmask. Victors eyes was almost shining up at the thought of taking people to the chamber. No one had walked into his chamber before, so at the moment he would just love to let someone see it. He shook his head quickly, remembering who these men really were.

Victor looked at Alpha for a moment, what he was thinking was hard to tell. "Victor wonders... What would make these men to leave and never come back? Victor guess you wouldn't let him take them to his chamber." He sighted slightly and seemed to start go back to the shadows.

The officers shivered-it felt as if they were on trial for some unfathomable crime. And truly, the crime was unfathomable to them. They had no clue what they could have done wrong.
"No...not yet...only if they prove to be stubborn. I would rather not draw more attention to ourselves if an entire platoon of law-men suddenly disappeared here. It would only draw suspicion. They seem more as if they don't understand. There is confusion and fear in their eyes....

Victor nodded slightly and sat down on the floor. "Then Victor think we should maybe try to explaine... That always helped him when he felt confused." He suggested and waved with a hand trying to let the officers to sit down like he had just done. "Maybe... if we are nice then they will be nice back... Isn't that some kind of rule after all? I think father mentioned it sometime." Victor said and glanced from Alpha to the officers then back again.
