Sitting on his new bed, Falin chewed on his lip, eyes closed in contemplation. He'd only just put his things away and gotten settled in, but no one had showed him around or had explained to him what exactly he was expected to do as a candidate. It was highly frustrating, but he was sure he'd locate someone sooner or later who could tell him. Until then, he knew he was intelligent enough to figure some things out for himself about how this weyr worked. It couldn't be too different from hold life, he assumed. But at the moment, he had a more pressing concern. His stomach was growling at him, complaining that it had not seen food since that morning, and it was now late afternoon. Dinner would not be served for a few hours yet.
Standing, he smoothed down the sheets he had rumpled by sitting on them and walked out of his room and into the hallway. Pausing to orient himself, he figured out which way to go and left the barracks, entering the weyrbowl. From there, he stopped, brown eyes roving around, taking in the locations of people and dragons, seeing if there might be someone who could direct him to the kitchens. He, however, found the place easily himself. A delightful smell had drifted across the weyrbowl to Falin and the candidate simply followed his nose. Stopping at the entrance, he poked his head in, looking around at the workers as they went about concocting the evening meal. He idly wondered if one of them might get him a snack to last him until dinner.

Aleerna followed her nose into the kitchens. She had spent the two days after the Gather wandering aimlessly around the Weyr, she was sure that she was supposed to have chores or something but no one had told her and she didn't know who to ask. She wouldn't have even minded doing chores, at least it would be something do to! I wonder where all the other candidates are she wondered thoughtfully as she headed into the busy room, glancing around to try and spot any of the candidiates she had met - which was only about two, so that was a problem. She sighed, not seeing anyone she recognised and turned to leave. She had also tried to find that rider, she paused for a moment, trying to remember his name, J'oss, that was it! Maybe he would know what she was meant to be doing, or maybe he would just talk to her. She sighed again, she was usually quite a social person but the candidates that she had met hadn't been interested in being her friend. "Myabe I'll go find out who the head woman is, she might be able to help me. Shards its such a pain being one of the last to be searched!" she muttered crossly to herself as she stood in the doorway. "Don't worry Capna, I'll get you some food right away," Minno said to the little brown on her shoulder. He was whining again as it was late afternoon, and Minno had slept in. She couldn't feed him much as she had to get to her chores right away. Minno had just walked into the kitchen, when she saw a blond candidate walking around, and was just about to go talk to her when she bumped into a young boy. "Oops sorry," she said, completely embarrassed. "I should've been watching where I was going." She then looked at him. "I don't think I've seen you around before. You just came didn't you? Well it's nice to meet you, I'm Minno." Capna whined again. "Alright Capna, I'll get you something to eat." She looked at Falin and asked a little shyly, "You wouldn't mind joining us would you?"

Aleerna huffed slightly as she looked around again, she didnt really want to leave the kitchens. They were nice and warm and the business was soothing to her. Not to metion the fact that she was hungry. She was still debating when she saw something that made her stop and gasp, a small, beautiful brown Firelizard, perched on a girls shoulder, not far from where she stood. For a moment the girl looked like she was going to come over to her, but then she bumped into a boy. Looking at the two of them Aleerna wondered if they were candidates as well, they both looked around her age, the girl a little younger and the boy a little older. She vaguely recognised their faces and was sure that they were candidates. "Hello there!" She said cheerfully, hurrying over to them, "are you two ok? I saw you run into each other. Are you two both candidates as well? Do you know what we're supposed to be doing, I only got here a few days ago and I'm not sure! Why don't we all go get something to eat." abruptly she realised she was rambling and snapped her mouth shut with a grin, "Sorry I have a habit of rambling, I'm Aleerna by the way!" "Yes I'm fine," Minno said, a little surprised by the sudden attention. "I'm Minno. I'm a candidate too."
Capna whined again. "Sorry about that, I didn't get to feed Capna much this morning and he's a little hungry," she patted his head. "I'm just going to go get a bowl of scrap meat and some bread. Maybe we could all sit at that table over there?"
Minno really wasn't accustomed to having someone come over and talk to her. But then again, she thought, things are different in the Weyr.

Still standing in the doorway, Falin never noticed the girl, not until she bumped into him and set him tottering forward, arms pinwheeling as he tried valiantly to regain his sense of balance. Once he felt secure in his standing, he turned around to look at the girl, cocking his head to the side as he looked at her curiously. "Oh, it's no problem." he said, absently running a thin hand through his mop of blond hair. His brown eyes regarded her before he cracked a small smile. "I'm Falin. Nice flitter you have there."
He blinked in surprise as a blond girl ran up to them. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Didn't fall or anything." he told her, hands up, trying to reassure her. He listened to Minno for a moment before putting in his own two marks. "Yeah, I'm a candidate too. Name's Falin. And that's what I was trying to do. Food sounds good right about now. I'm sure Capna agrees." he murmured, grinning for a moment at the brown flitt.

"That sounds great! Nice to meet you Mino, Falin! Shards I'm starved, I haven't had anything to eat all day! Oh how long have you two been here?" Aleerna talked as she led the way to the table Minno had pointed out. "Its so great having someone to talk to, I've been really bored, and I've only been here a few days so I dont know what I'm supposed to be doing!" Once again she realised she was rambling on, not letting either of the others get a word in, "oh scorch it I'm doing it again, I really do talk to much!" she said with a grin. The little Brown Firelizard chirped again and Aleerna snapped her mouth closed, enchanted by the little creature, she'd never been able to have one, and she'd never even been really close to one before. "It's okay Aleerna. I've only been here for the past 5 days." Minno stopped at kitchen drudge and asked politely, "You wouldn't mind getting us a bowl of scraps and some bread would you?" The drudge nodded, then Minno added, "We'll be sitting right over there." The drudge quickly ran off to fill out his order.
As they continued to walk towards the table, Minno then asked, "So where are you guys from?"

Blinking, he eyed Aleerna. She sure could talk, he thought privately to himself. But in a way, her chatter was nice and filled the previous quiet. Falin quickly found himself smiling at her as he tried to answer her questions. "Well, I only just got here, really." he admitted, shoving his hands in his pockets as he looked down at the two shorter candidates. Man, why did he always have to be the tall one?
Slouching more, he continued to talk with her. "You and me seem to be in the same boat, then. Isn't there a candidate master around here or something?" he asked, shaking his head. "That's where we get our instructions, I think." After she chastised herself, the male shook his head. "No, it's okay, Aleerna. It's not like I talk a whole lot. You can talk for the both of us." he joked, chuckling a little.
When Minno spoke up, Falin blinked down at her for a moment. He had almost forgotten she was there, and now he felt bad. Scratching the back of his head, he threw her a sheepish smile. "Uh, I was born in the Harper Hall, but I frequented Fort Hold and Fort Weyr a lot." he told to her, hoping she'd forgive his lapse.
(Man, no he does not want to meet Myrelli! xD)

"Im from Southernboll Hold, the Weavercraft Hall to be specific!" Aleerna answered Minno as she sat down at the table with a relieved sigh. "Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't got a clue, woops sorry, that was rude, anyway. A Candidate Master, that sounds familiar, maybe we could look for her afterwards, oh only if you don't have anything else you have to be doing, I've been feeling really strange not having anything to do. By Faranth, at the rate I'm going I am going to be talking for the both of us!" She stopped to take a breath and smiled sheepishly. She couldn't help glancing up at the boy, he really was quite tall, and she was tall for her age and for a girl. It was actually a nice change to have someone taller than her. She absently flicked her hair back over her shoulder from where it had fallen in front of her. "Oh, you're from Fort Hold Falin? Haha that means that we've been sort of near each other all this time! What a coincidence that we both ended up at the same Weyr!" once again she had to pause to take a few deep breaths, she was rambling worse than she usually did, must be something to with having no one to talk to for the last few days she thought. She just hoped her new comapanions didn't grow too tired of her, like so many others did when they were around her for any length of time. Southernboll Hold Telgar Weyr Weavercrafthall

Minno could help but feel small and amazed at the height of the others. She was the shortest in this trio. After Aleerna's last comment, Minno spoke up, "That makes three of us." The others looked at her. "Though I grew up closer to you Falin. Practically right next door," she giggled. "I grew up in Fort Hold."
Minno continued talking, "I think I might have seen you once or twice though Falin. But then again I usually spent my time helping the Nannies look after the little children, so I didn't really get out that much. But those little kids were so cute. They really didn't want me to go to the Weyr. And if I do impress, I have to give them some rides a-dragonback once the dragon is able to fly. Oops now I'm rabbling."
Capna chirped in agreement. Everyone laughed.

(Sory, sorry. ._. Feel free to go on when I don't post for a few days.)
Falin shook his head. "No, I don't have anything to do after this, so maybe we should go look for the candidate master. I have heard whispers, though, that she's a devil-woman. Or so they say, anyway." the male imparted with an eye-roll. He had no idea if the rumors were true or not, but he preferred to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Turning to look at Minno, he cocked an eyebrow. "Really? Maybe I have run into you before, then. I spent a lot of time at the hold when I wasn't doing lessons as the crafthall. So it is possible you've seen me. It's not like I'm hard to miss." he joked with an easy grin.

Minno giggled, "It's quite possible."
The drudge came back with a bowl of bread and scrap meat. Capna jumped onto the bowl of scraps and started eating away.
"Careful Capna, don't choke yourself," Minno said as she reached for a piece of bread. "Great, I'm starved."
After everyone had a couple bites of bread, Minno said, "The candidate master isn't that bad. If you get on her good side." She shook her head and smiled, "I wouldn't go asking for chores now though. It's already late afternoon." She took another bite out of her bread. "But I could show you where she is. I think she's trying to get a final tally of all of the candidates."
The eggs were already hard, the hatching could be any day now.

Aleera dug in with gutso when the drudge delievered the food, listening to the others talk. She herself didnt talk for a few moments, she was too entranced by the little firelizard. Hearing Minno mention the candidate master, she forced her attention back to the conversation. "Well even if it is too late to get chore, which Im oh so sad about!" She giggled, " we can at least meet her, and if she's trying to get a tally of the candidates then maybe this will help to get on her good side!" Her attention was once again drawn to the firelizard and she squirmed slightly on the bench, she was so excited, as well as a little nervous about the hatching. And from what she had heard, it wouldnt be long now! Southernboll Hold Telgar Weyr Weavercrafthall

"Yeah, it just might," Minno said. "But if you're so sad about not having a chore, you could help those candidates over there with peeling the tubers." They all laughed.
As she finished off her current piece of bread, she couldn't help but watch Capna eat. How much bigger dragons were! Capna was such a handful when he hatched, and still was at times, how will it be like when, if, she Impressed a dragon? And how would she take care of both the dragon and firelizard? And what would she do if she didn't Impress at all?
Just to get her mind off of these questions she said, "Hey, do you guys want to meet hear tomorrow for breakfast?"
