The story of the beginning of a story....

There are many people in the world who has traveled to exotic places and share those stories with a select few of lucky people. Still many people dont want to travel beyond the town they were born in, living there for all their lives and enjoying the things that they know around them and not worrying about the world outside. Two of these simple people gave birth to a boy who would soon become the rare fellow in his town that has the urge to travel about and soon the story of the bard would begin.

Bard

Normally a bard is the sidekick in a party of adventurers, picking up tales that he witnessed himself or heard of others performing and putting them into songs and stories. The bard is most commonly seen carrying a instrument or two and has the skills to use them. A bard also enjoys little trophies from his travels to carry with him and soon enough he needs a caravan to help him move all his collective items.
Sometimes more then one bard meets up and travel together, helping one another through the toughness of a magical and mystical world while making money from performing plays, playing their instruments, and telling the tales. These caravans of bards become known world wide for their adventures and soon enough they gain legendary status.
Even rarer then the caravan of bards is the soloist bard or the lone bard who leads a party which is the bard of this story. These bards become even more famous then the group of bards because of the epic struggles to lead a party and fight agaisnt some of the dangerous encounters he would run into on his long travels.

The Needs, the Rules, and the Continuation.

Needs

The role play starts out with my first post in the town. Other people can begin in their town but can travel elsewhere.

1. I need one character created that lives in the same town that the bard does.

2. I need other characters created from made up places so we can use those places in the role play. Everyone helps the story ^.^ Also add your alignment to the title of the pm. ((Good/Evil/Neither))

Rules

1. Be literate. Try to at least.

2. Put effort in making a story inside of this story.

3. Do things like make romances, fight villains, and help people survive but all above you should enjoy yourself. ^.^

4. Pm your profile(s) with the title of the role play in the pm title.

The younger child turned around a little in the hay basket that was his and anothers bed, getting up and leaving shortly after his awaking. His bed mate was not in the bed at the moment, it wasnt a sexual sleeping togetherness but rather his race of nekos are very close to one another and often easily expresses it in the form of sleeping in same beds, leaning agaisnt one another while in public places such as the pubs or the theater. But most of the people they easily expressed closeness to one another with were relatives, doing so with someone who wasnt almost automatically made the two of them a couple even if in their minds they really wrent and since it was a long pass time among these nekos it has become a custom not to show closeness unless you knew of those assumptions thought of between you and your subject of your affection and desired it anyway.
His bed partner was his older brother who often arrived late to the hay and left early, making Tenit hardly seeing him when he was awake. He had other siblings but his older brother was the rare one who didnt treat his brother like a godly figure thanks to his many neko features and thought that a god should not be in the presence of those who were not worthy. Tenit did not think of himself as a god and believed that his older brother didnt as well. When asked why he permits his older brother to be close he would simply reply that he would allow his other siblings if they wanted his friendly comfort as he slept. His relatives were less of a annoyance to him when it comes to treating him as a god then the other members of the town, always giving him special treats and free things such as food, fancy clothes, and sometimes even asking him to kiss the females of a paired couple in hopes that his kiss would bless the woman to give birth to a neko of his similar multiple feline traits.
Mom and Dad believed that their son was a god as well, or at least some sort of prodigy amongst there people. They were also given more unusual treatment for being the parents of the rare child and enjoyed the advantages much more then Tenit did. Though everyone except for maybe his older brother believes that Tenit enjoys the treatment he gets for being who he is, one of his younger siblings secretly hates Tenit because of that special treatment he gets that his other siblings do not. Tenit is blind to this hatred from his younger sibling and anyone who would hate him unless it was bluntly shown to him but it isnt a blind thing to their older brother who often reminds the younger one that he is there to protect Tenit which often erases any threatening thoughts inside the head of this jealous younger brother.

Tenit sometimes escape from this extra treatment by finding places to hide from his worshipers. Seen sometimes wondering around in the nearby forest and down by the stream. One thing that isnt common for the neko bunch is the enjoyment of water, but Tenit is happy when he splashes around in the small stream and chases down the low river after the unlucky fish that somehow manage to get down stream. But sometimes the rainy days becomes too dangerous for the young kid to spend the time outside or his desires for the indoors overpower those of the outdoors and he spends his time secretly teaching himself how to play musical instruments in the empty backroom of the theater when the rare weekday comes along that the building isnt being used for performance rehearsals, school plays, or a single person is there to see him secretly self teaching him the talents that will give him more praise as a godly gifted child.

So that was where he is now after a quick get up from the hay, playing the flute and sitting in a spot where he could see out the window and make sure that no one was watching him do what he was doing. But there were a few people who knew of his musical talents, his older brother was one of them. One time walking into the theater and following the lovely melody of his brother's flute playing. Tenit was scared at first that his love for this self matured skill would get out to the public but his brother only smiled and reassured him that his secret was safe. He wasnt playing the flute right now but rather another instrument that he had wanted to learn, one called a Cornett which was a rare one for anyone to play.
His brother was not there at the moment but ever since knowing of his brother's talents he would sometimes show up to his secret lessons self taught and watch his brother play. He would give him praise from the heart rather then the praise commonly given because he was unique. His brother worked alot on the farm fields with their father and others. After work he would spend time with similar age people of the town which was why Tenit rarely sees his brother when he goes to sleep and when he wakes up. He knew of how much his younger brother looked up to him and expected him to always be there and had hard times explaining to him why sometimes he did not feel his brother in the basket bed at night when he was at some female nekos house instead or why he was not at home after he was working when he was rather out drinking and/or partying with his friends.

He looked up at the window and saw some people approaching the theater. Tenit lowered his instrument from his mouth and decided to leave, putting the cornett into his largely over sized brown strap bag and leaving the backroom of the theater's instrument storage room. He passed the people who entered, who gave him a awe-ing look as he went by. Exiting the theater, he looked up at the cloudy sky before deciding to head on home for lunch and thinking of the easiest way to avoid people and still manage to make it home in time for the meal.

His trip back home was only interrupted by a daughter and her mother who plead for Tenit to kiss her daughter's pregnant stomach for good luck. He finally gave into her wants and did so which gave him many thanks and a free pass to continue on his way.
He has gotten used to these kind of things happening but still sometimes just wanted to be left alone and treated more like a normal civilian of the town rather then some sort of godly prophet or similar titles along the line of being very idolized. This desire to be left alone would make Tenit sometimes spend days and days inside of the house which was hard for him seeing that he enjoyed nature so much and had to go outside to a private place to play his instruments as well.

He did make it home though without anymore run ins with unwanted distractions. The common homes among the neko village of Yardy was ideally places in the shades of a couple of trees, making the inside of the house alot cooler which was good for the multiple people who lived inside one house.
Families only moved out of their houses when they are married and their wife is pregnant, the woman who got married to the male moved in with the male's family but got a room for themselves or a room with only one or two other people depending on how many people lived under one roof. The Reunion Family has eight people living under one roof which are all blood related. They usually have the boys all sleeping in one room and the girls in the other, four boys and two girls. Mom and Dad got their own room of course and they had a fourth room for guests or if one of the males of the house got married which besides the parents, hasnt happened.
The location of the houses and the family living arrangement are not the only highly kept going traditions of this village. Foods eaten by the families were very similar to what they ate when they first made this village some many years ago such as the fruits, small birds, and milk. The milk came from cows, goats, and alot of other livestock animals that produced it. It is common to have something like 5-8 cups of milk a day depending on the Neko's age and is most of the time drank more then water. The animals that produce the family milk are kept in the backyard of the house as a small farm like appearance and also was why the children are usually in the front yard, playing outside, those animals are only used for the milk and never for its meat.
Things inside of the house are also traditional such as the hay baskets that the nekos sleep with. It isnt so much as a basket as it is a giant container filled with mostly hay and some cotton here and there. Hay can be uncomfortable on the skin though which is why a couple of blankets lay on top of the hay and they share beds with other people. The older person of the shared basket is on most of the hay/blankets and allows the younger neko to lay agaisnt or on top of them so it wouldnt be too uncomfortable for them. Sleeping agaisnt hay and blankets start to become so normal to the nekos that they stop minding the small pains it could bring. Eating at the table and together as a family has become tradition as well which as you can imagine needs a rather large table since the common neko family usually has 6-10 people to feed at each meal depending on if any of them are married. The chairs for the table are small but so is the table, height anyways. Most of the time the table is a very large round one with a center for placing the foods of the meal. How the family sits is commonly as the mother and father of the family next to each other and in the center of the attention then if any are married they are sitting next to each other and next to one of the parents. Then the girls of the family sit next to mother of the woman of the marriage and the boys sit next to the father or the male of the marriage.

Tenit made it home just in time to file into one of the chairs and finding himself at the end of the round table, which at the end of a round table would place him next to one of his sisters. His older brother wasnt there which wasnt uncommon, working late or out at the village pub and hanging with his friends of the girl he likes. Tenit has decided not to ask father anymore where Hamit was at the meals. It was 6pm which was a common time of the day to eat lunch for this neko community. The food was being brought to the center of the table by the oldest daughter and their mother and no one was allowed to reach for the food until both women who brought the food to the table were sitting down.
The lunch begun, everyone reaching for their favorite thing that they saw for them today. Tenit reached for a scoop of cottage cheese salad which was basically the cottage cheese, broccoli, and a couple of small berries mixed together with a type of sweet dressing. His present brothers all reached for the small roasted birds including father as well while the girls picked at the fruits and some of the salad.

"What did all of you do today?" Father asked his children, looking though at Tenit and wanting his reply more then the others.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:46 pm

"We picked berries with mom." The girls said to their father, of course the girls were first to reply to him, since it was 'ladies first'. Father smiled to his girls and looked at his wife before turning his attention, and everyone else attention, to Tenit, who was expected to go next since he was the rarest neko of the town.

"I didnt do much..Father.." Tenit replied after a moment of silence, getting confused expressions from his family. They didnt believe in the 'not much' reply that Tenit often gave and the boy knew his father and the rest expected more. "I just walked around town..Seeing some people..." He replied which got a more enjoyable smile from his father and the rest.

"We played kick ball with other kids of the village father." One of the boy's replied for the rest of the present boys. Father enjoyed this and nodded, starting to talk about how playing sports like kick ball and flip toss.

"I made it home for lunch.."
A voice said from the entrance of the house, everyone turning to his the older of the boys and Tenit smiling happily, a rare treat to see Hamit who was slightly dirty from his job. He pulled up a chair and sat next to Tenit which placed him at the end of the table now.

"It is about time we see you at a meal, Hamit."
Father said sternly though he was smiling afterward.

The sun shone through the side of her small makeshift hut. Of course, it was not much of a hut. Merely a few branches strung together to make a roof and a bit of siding. For her, though, it was enough for shelter. Brina slowly opened her deep red-brown eyes, squinting against the sunlight that broke through the leaves to her left. This was how she awoke every morning, to the soft chirping of the birds and the skittering of squirrels. A frustrated growl escaped her throat as she rolled over, wanting to get a bit more sleep. However, seeing as she was already awake, it was hard for her to go back to sleep and thus she let out a frustrated sigh and sat up, a scowl on her face. Within minutes she was walking on the small path that she had made that headed towards the river. She had made her home just outside of the range of other huts of the village. Nobody there really liked the way she lived, or that she was not willing to join their village. They pitied her, however, for the misfortune of her parents death and having to take care of herself. Not that she really cared. Brina would not have it any other way. She was content just as she was with surviving on her own, hunting her own food and doing whatever she pleased whenever she pleased. Once she made it to the river and a quick glance around to make sure the coast was clear, she set to undressing and preparing for a quick bath.

After her bath, and sitting back outside her makeshift home, Brina set to work sharpening her daggers to prepare a hunt for her lunch. Her days consisted of hunting for food, running, practicing with her daggers and fists (just in the case that she needed to defend herself), and wandering. She did her best to avoid the village, but usually whenever she did happen into the roads her eyes landed on a few other neko's cornering one that they compared to a 'god'. She did not understand why. If it had been back in her village she would probably have called him a freak, but growing up here had changed her opinion on many things. Though she did not compare him to a god, she did not give him any special treatment. He was just another being that she ignored. With her daggers sharpened, Brina stood and set off to hunt for her lunch.

She sat in front the river now, washing her daggers carefully of the blood that covered the blades. Her meal was cooking carefully over a fire a small ways from her home, and while it did she thought it best to clean her weapons. They would be no good to her crusted in dried blood. Once she was sure that they were clean enough she headed back to her home to watch the food cook. In under an hour it was ready, and Brina set forth with eating. Her eyes scanned the scenery as she tore small pieces of food with her teeth. It was a lot quieter than usual, but she really did not mind. It was better than hearing the mindless babbling of the villagers praising their 'god'.

The lunch went on in mostly silence though it was clear that Tenit was alot more happier with his older brother there. He only ate the salad and a berry ice cream which was a specialty of his mother. The rest of the family ate 2 servings of the main dishes before moving to the dessert. No one was allowed to leave the table until father and then mother did, except for a older child, and after a while the parents both got up and went into the living room making the chairs at the table.

The two boys went on talking about some crazy girl living out of the village near the river and how they were throwing rocks at her house and laughing. The girls both went into their rooms, leaving Tenit and Hamit alone in the dining room.

"I've seen that girl on the outskirts of the village sometimes.."
Hamit added to the earlier conversation of the two boys. Tenit only nodded, still emotionally frozen by the unexpected appearance of his older brother which was now obvious to him. "Come on Tenit, i'll help you take a bath."

Tenit smiled and nodded again, heading for the door and exiting only after his brother did. They went over to the side of the house where a outside tub was. Hamit started the water for the tub while Tenit took off all his clothes except for his underwear, waiting for the water.

After she had cleaned up her meal, Brina sat back against one of the surrounding tree trunks, wondering what she would do. Things got quite repetitive when you lived on your own. Hunting, practicing fighting, and simply surviving each day. Brina wished for something more. An adventure. Then again, there was no real reason why she could not go off on her own. There was nobody to ask where she was going, and nobody to worry about her. She supposed that the only reason that she had not left this stupid village was because she had not been ready.

"But now I am," she muttered, flicking a stone that was laying next to her. "I am trained to fight and hunt. I can do it."

She stood up and stretched. She supposed that she would prepare for her grand adventure and leave in a day or two. She would have to pack up her things and possibly get a few supplies. Brina looked towards the village. She hated having to ask for things. It would be better if she just got them on her own. Her red-brown eyes trailed over the huts and the people walking around. The older generation understood why she was alone, though many wished that they could help. The younger generation, however, thought of her as the "crazy girl". They usually taunted her by throwing stones and such at her hut, though she ignored them. They called her names, and just to get them to leave her alone she would stand up and glare, sometimes flashing her fangs in their direction. If that did not work, she would throw one of her daggers in their direction, but not at that. Just something to scare them away.

"Brother..Why doesnt anyone ever leave the village..?" Tenit randomly asked as he was getting into the tub and letting the warm water cause him to smile happily.

His brother stood there for a while, not shocked by the question but just thinking. "Well no one has ever had a reason to leave. They are content with the things in the village..They dont need to know whats out there."

"I do. I want to see what is beyond the traditions of our world. I want to hear music from a orchestra of elves." Tenit started but stopped, looking back at his brother with a less passionate expression. "But i cant ever leave here..I am loved too much.."

His brother sighed a little and started to clean his hair, the two standing in silence for a while as his brother thought about what his younger one said to him.

Brina wandered quietly through the village. Walking among these people made her nervous, as if she stood out like a sore thumb. She wandered to one of the little shops and walked in, hoping to get some flint to keep handy for her travels. The flint she had at the moment was nearly gone, after much use over the past couple of months. She would need a large piece of the rock, and possibly a couple of small ones.

"
Ah, good afternoon Brina. How may I help you?" the clerk behind the counter asked, smiling broadly her way.

"Um... I was wondering if I could get some flint," she replied, shyly of course.

The clerk nodded and turned around to get what she needed. As little as she liked to enter the village, this was one of the places that she felt at least a bit comfortable in. The clerk never asked her questions, except for what she would need, and she liked that. He seemed to understand that she did not want to be pestered and thus, as long as she got what she needed, he would leave it at that.

"I need a fairly large piece," Brina added as he was still turned away from her, "and a few smaller ones. Please."

"
A large one? Well, of course you can get that," he remarked, turning to her with the flint. "Might I ask what you need a large one for?"

She paused. She did like this man, but this was one of the first times he had asked such a personal question. Well, personal to her, at least.

"I... um..." she stammered before clearing her throat. "I am going to be leaving for a while. See the world, you know."

"
Ah, I see," he commented.

She smiled a bit. At least he was not pressing the subject. She offered him the little money that she had managed to scrounge, but he refused it. It was his going away gift, he told her, and she would need whatever money she had for her travels. Brina smiled a bit more. She liked this old man just a bit more now.

"Thank you," she said, taking her newly packaged goods.

"
Safe travels, Brina," he wished her as she left his shop.

The bath only lasted for around seven minutes because it was starting to get chilly outside. Tenit said goodbye to his brother who claimed he was going to the pub again tonight to hang with his friends. Tenit didnt mind though, enjoying just the short amount of time with him that he had today. He returned to the boy's room to see his other brothers playing around. Sometimes he would join them but tonight he was rather tired and crashed into his hay basket...

"..Tenit.." A voice called, that person shaking him as well. "Tenit wake up..I packed for you.." Hamit told him.

The young boy open his eyes and tried to make out what was infront of him. He brother had a large bag made out for a long trip and miscellaneous equipment as well, including his musical instruments. He rose up from the bed and rubbed his eyes.
"What is this..?"

"You wanted to leave, so i made a way for you to do so.."
He started to explain. "The clerk at the supplies store said someone is leaving the village tonight. I arrange it for you to follow her out and begin your adventure..My bard brother..You must hurry though or your unknowing guide might leave without you.."

She sat next to the small fire she had made, preparing the last of her things before she would set out on her adventure. She had her flint and daggers, as well as a few other items of importance to her that she had from when she had first arrived in the village all those years ago.

"All right," Brina muttered, her eyes darting around to make sure that everything was in order. "I believe that I am ready."

Her eyes seemed to grin, dancing around like the fire that was flickering in front of her. She was excited to be leaving this place. She would journey far and wide, explore the world and see it truly for the first time. The views of the world that she had from when she was a child were broken, only flickers of memories nearly forgotten. From what she remembered the world had been a bad place, but she was ready to face it head on. After she had packed up the last of her things and sheathed her daggers Brina stood and looked down at the fire. She stood there for a moment, simply watching it before kicking the pile of dirt next to it on to it. Within a few moments the flames were out and Brina was in complete darkness. However, she could see, and thus picked up her bag and tossed it over her shoulder.

"...Farewell," she whispered, looking to the village that was supposed to be her home. "Although I never really liked it here, I have a feeling that I will miss it."

With that, Brina turned and began walked towards the road leading from the village. She thought that, at night, it would be better to follow than wandering through trees.

His brother hurried him through the town, carrying his stuff for now until they would get to the location that he wanted to. Tenit put his best efforts into keeping up but his smaller size made it hard to be a foot or two behind but rather he was about 5-7 feet behind. It felt like forever that he was trying to keep up with Hamit but finally he put up his hand to halt his younger brother and then pointed out to a young girl a distance away who seemed packed and ready to move out herself.

"That's your unaware guide." He whispered ever so softly. "Keep quiet for a while as you follow her but get her attention if you need it."

He turned to his brother and smiled, hugging her softly and quietly. Everything was happening so fast that it was only now that Tenit really knew that it wasnt a very odd dream but it was real. He didnt expect his dream to come true so quickly and had doubts now but his brother put this together for him and he always knew best. It was decided that he wouldnt back down and continue with it, a spur of the moment and a chance for a epic adventure was the fuel for keeping him going.

"Goodbye Hamit.." He whispered, quietly putting the stuff on for movement and turning to watch his brother walk away until he couldnt watch anymore then he waited until this young girl started to head out before he would begin following.

Brina had already walked quite a ways down the path, keeping her ears open for the sound of anything that might be unusal. For the most part it was silent, save for the soft rustling of leaves and the quiet shuffling of two feet a fair distance behind her. She had first noticed it about ten minutes earlier, and had kept a careful ear on the distance seperating her and whatever it was following her.

"It is probably just some wild animal," she thought as she continued on.

It was not like she had anything to worry about, anyway. She was skilled with her daggers and fists, and if worst came to worst she could easily bite the follower and maybe even scamper up a tree. The latter was her last choice, of course. So, she kept on walking until the sky to the east became the slightest bit brighter, signalling that dawn was drawing near. She came to a stop, listening around for the sound of the gurgling water of a stream that might be nearby. She would have to sit down for breakfast before she continued walking along the edge of the trees.

"You can show yourself, you know," Brina called back to the follower as she crouched to the ground, inspecting the trail. "I know you are there."
