The other day I noticed that my horse had thrush. (its been all wet, muddy and rainy for the past week) I used Thrush Buster, which is this purple stuff to cure thrush.

I used the treatment about 4 days ago, My horse still has thrush. stare On the bottle it specifically said that one use should take care of it, so I have been holding off on putting any more on thinking that it may take a few days. It also says that you can use it weekly to prevent thrush.

My question is, should I re-apply the Thrush Buster? or could that be bad if I use it to much?
Did I just not use enough the first time, he has HUGE feet (size 5 shoes I think)?
Have you ever tried Thrush Buster? and How did it work for you?
Any better thrush treatment suggestions?
Is it safe to use every day, until the thrush is gone?

We have Thrush Buster, I dont think that we have ever used it. We use Koppertox. It comes in a squeeze bottle. It will stain your clothes so dont get it on you. We use it once a day until the thrush is gone. It has always worked really well.

We've always used Koppertox as well, or diluted bleach if it's really really mild, but I don't know how affective that really is.

I'd say go ahead and reapply it if the thrush is still there. If it's an option, try to keep her feet really dry for a few days as well, but I know that isn't always an option. How often does the bottle say to apply it for preventing thrush? I don't know if I'd go every day, but you probably could do a few times a week? If you're really unsure, ask your vet.

On the bottle it says "use once a week to prevent thrush in wet areas, and once every two weeks in dry areas" Where he is is a VERY wet area, it has bee raining for the past week, so taking him out of the mud would mean him not going outside. (he gets extreamly full of himself when he doesn't go outside)

Ah, I can understand that. My horses used to go crazy if they had to stay in.

I used it on both my guys and it cured it with the first application. I'm never going back to that Absorbine stuff. It took forever to work. I guess it could work different on every horse, and it probably depends on how severe the thrush is.

It really isn't severe at all, and on other horses I have used it once and it was gone.
