This has been a long-contested issue. Which human do you prefer, and why?
Please, concentrate on why you like or don't like a certain host, not insulting a person who feels differently about them. See the "no fighting, no biting" thread.

i have to go with my main man Joel!!!! i grew up with him. he's like an old security blanket for me. not that i don't love mike and everything, it's just that i have fonder memories with Joel. plus, he was the original!!! c'mon, you can't beat that!

as far as host segments go, i prefer Mike. as far as the MSTing goes, Joel all the way. Mike is much more entertaining to watch and better able to pull off the skits. something about his more animated nature doesn't translate quite as well to the theatre as Joel's deadpan-type voice, though. if we're talking overall...it's hard to say. i've seen more Mike eps by virtue of getting into the series rather late on (season 7 or 8 or so.), so if i'm biased in any direction, it's towards Mike.

I also feel that Mike has a generally more pleasant stage persona, although Joel definately has his moments (I laughed my a** off at KYTLA KNOWS!)
I think it more or less boils down to who you saw first, and I really met MST3K through scifi.

I like Mike the best. He's a better actor and I personally find him funnier. That's not to say that I don't like Joel, just not as much.

id have to say mike. joel came across as stoned far too often (in my opinion). mike seemed more easy going and he pulls off that "poor sod stuck in space" part very well. some of the movies i saw with joel were very funny, but i like the mike ones better

Mike is funnier to me since I saw him first and I love the fact that he is from Wisconsin like me
"PACKERS WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!!"

They're pretty even, I suppose. I think that the movie comments are funnier with Mike, but the skits were 1000 times better when Joel was there.

I think I remember Mike being funnier in my book, but I liked them both the same, cause I usually only watched for the movies anyways, and the robots were the ones cracking the funniest jokes...

Joel was nice, but I liked Mike alot better for his querks. The whole rice thing and all and how he was on a level equal to the robots, rather than a parent like Joel.

I love Mike's razor-sharp wit and his theatricals. I don't think Joel would have been able to pull off such lines as "Welcome to Divot Hills" or "She's lightly jogging away from him". These really need the bite Mike provides. Joel, to me, is just too dead-pan, which doesn't translate in the theater. He almost sounds bored sometimes, and often comes off as haughty instead of "having fun".
"Wow! Look at her go! I didn't realize cigarettes had so many vitamins!"
