Welcome to ..:: Freerunning ::.. Gaia's first and only parkour related guild. Now, for those of you who are new, I'd love for you to introduce yourselves here, tell us a bit about you, what got you interested in parkour and just get to know each other. Those of you who are new should visit the Personal Fitness Sheets subforum as soon as possible. Here's a basic guide of the forums:

IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS OR NEED TIPS DON'T POST HERE ^^

Techniques and Training

This subforum is the area where you'll have plenty of room to talk about your problems, ask for help from experts and get to know the basics of parkour for those of you who don't. It also contains dieting information, special exercises and workouts you should try to condition yourself for parkour. If you're having trouble with rolls? Ask here. Don't know how to top out on your cats? No problem, there's bound to be someone who can help here.

Inspiration

Every once in a while we get bummed out. We keep failing on that double kong we've been working towards (hell, maybe even our normal kong) and we just need some inspiration. The Inspiration subforum is where you can post creative writing about parkour and freerunning. Anything from short stories (whether true or fictitious), poetry, songs you've made about parkour, or roleplays you're making for it, this is the place to go to get yourself pumped. Maybe you've got some quotes or words of wisdom you think we should hear. Tell us.

Discussion Boards

Okay, there are some things in parkour and freerunning that need discussion. Such as, what's the difference between the two? Is there a difference? Should there be parkour competitions or not? Where is the future of parkour going? Got any topic or argument or theory or anything you want to discuss, make your own forum here.

Personal Fitness Sheets

This is one of the first places you should go when you get here. PFSs are your personal workout charts. You create your own thread to discuss what you're having difficulties with, how far you can run, all your personal information. Then you come back weekly and update it whether you've improved or not.

Photos and Videos

This is a place for you to post videos of you and/or your buddies doing parkour. Of course, other videos not from you are welcome of course. Also, we have the Pic of the Week here, where we show the best original photo of the week.

Freerunning Roleplays

For all you roleplayers out there, this is your spot. Make a story about freerunning. Anything from a small group of traceurs trying to find their place in the world to a more Mirror's Edge type of story, it'll go great here. Parkour can be either a main element that drives the plot or just something on a side note. Feel free to be creative.

Hi i got a problem with front flips, i tried jumping higher and lower but i keep landing on my back xD got any tips question , im guessing when i jump higher i lose speed there for hitting the floor faster, jumping lower gets me close but i end up rolling, i guess i have to put more speed into the jupm in the first place, is that right?

My only tip is to remember to tuck more when you do a front flip. Unlike a back flip where your body kind of needs to throw out to catch the ground, in a front flip you need to tuck inwards, forming a ball, to complete the spin. Throw your arms forward, kick off with one foot and then use the other foot to sort of throw yourself up, tucking into a ball and then landing. It sounds hard, but its not. After I got done talking with you yesterday about how I couldn't do one I went online and found some videos. For further instructions I'll post a tutorial on Techniques and Training with a good video, kay?

Okay, a bit about me:

My name's Lee. You can call me Lee, some of my friends call me Street (don't ask), or you can call me Machina or MM or Mac. Whatever works for you. Hell, I'll even let you call me God. xD

I've been doing parkour for about a year now. When I first started, I was an active Gaia member and I spent almost all day on the internet. Now its been about a year since I've been on and I just got back into it about two weeks ago. Parkour took over my life. Every morning I wake up is a day I look to hone my skills. I'm a bit above average in my skills, but when it comes to flipping I'm not that great. I can really only do a butterfly flip and a back flip and since last night I can do a front flip, but it feels awkward.
I still practice the basics every morning. I don't go a day without rolling. I wake up, I do around fifty pushups, a hundred sit ups, a two and half minute plank, twenty five dips and then I jump from one strip of tape to another about twenty times. Afterwards I do about twenty or so rolls or until I feel comfortable again and then I get online and check my Myspace and everything else.
I just moved, so I dont' know any hotspots where I live now, but I plan on going to California and tearing it up there ^^ I'm seventeen years old and I'm a dude (in case that wasn't obvious). That's all there is to know.

Okay, this has nothing to do with parkour or freerunning, but I wanted to post it anyways. Its a thing I submitted to the Arenas. Feel free to vote or post a comment or something. ^^

Lychel is my name-- Nikolai is my real name, but I also go by Niko. I love Martial Arts, Kendo, and Parkour to get in physical shape, and play Go for mental shape.

I dont know exactly how long Ive been doing parkour, but it has been between one and three years. The days go by so quick that its hard to keep track of when I started.

Er..

As for workout, I do basic stretches for parkour, but I make sure that my Kendo and MMA Skills work on the rest of my body. 15, Male.

I live in the Central part of Wisconsin, where there are many hotspots to go, but, only because we have no decent natural courses to run other than rooftops, we (my friend and myself) are going around asking for permission to use their property :3
