Chagrin sat in the high grasses just outside the mouth of the den he and his mate shared. The sun shone down as it drifted lazily across the sky to bury itself into the sunset that set the sky on fire with a rainbow of colors from orange and red, to pinks and purples, finally to the blacks and blues flecked with the stars of the night and the moon that would float overhead taking the sun's place. While Myrle still slept in the den, hs mind replayed over the passed days conversations; considering starting a packfamily of their own was not a decision to take lightly, but it thrilled him. So long he'd been alone until that fateful day him and Myrle has crossed paths at the stream where he shared his story with her. And now, she shared a home with him, one they had dug deeper into making more room. Puppies, he could be a father, and raise his own young. It made his heart flutter with excitement. Once the sun finally set it's final course of sinking below the horizon Chagrin stuck his muzzle into the den. "Myrle.." he called down to her, tail wagging.

She's been sleeping peacefully. Her dreams filled with their happy future. A few pups to call their own, wandering along, following the stream and collecting stories of others. Fishing, telling stories to the ir pups, laughing, having a grand time. That's what she hoped would come. Myrle hoped Chagrin thought long and hard about what they've talked about. She wanted a family with him. That much was obvious. She knew it was getting late, her body knew it. It was getting cooler outside which made the den so much cooler. A voice lifted the fog from her sleepy head and she finally cracked open a gray eye. "Hm...." She replied back, not wanting to be up yet. She was so tired lately. It was the heat; it drained her because of her fur. Still, Myrle tried not to complain. Humming, she finally got to her paws and stretched out, long and luxuriously. "Coming, Grin.."

The male pulled his head back out of the den waiting for the female. He'd bring up the pup idea himself this time. But he's voice his complete acceptance of the idea, for a while he worried over it, not sure it the timing was right, but there was no point holding back now. The timing was fine, and Myrle would be coming back into season soon, there was no point in wasting time waiting for some opportune moment far ahead in the future, especially is they planned on eventually leaving to travel when the pups were old enough. No time was better than the present. He sat outside the den listening to the summer hares scampering through the long grass. They wouldn't have to go far for hunting tonight, the rabbit meat was sweet and tender and at this time of the year plentiful unlike the winter months when the hares were scarce.

Finally, she padded out and sat down on the grass just outside the den and blinked a few times. It was lighter out here than in the den. She half hated it, honestly coing out of the den only to be blinded by the night. Shaking her head a few times, Myrle looked to Chagrin with a sleepy, contented grin. "Morning.. Been up long? I keep telling you to wake me up..." The look on her face didn't change as she moved over to nuzzle and n** at his face, murring a little bit before yawning wide. Maybe a trip to the creek was in order. Some cold water could do her some good.

He smiles at his mate licking at her face. "Long enough to watch the sun set." he said nuzzling her back. He stood up again shaking himself a little. "I didn't want to wake you, you're a night walker." he laughed nudging at her. He felt almost like a puppy again at that moment. He didn't want to pop out the talk of pups just yet, let Myrle wake a little more and come to her full senses. The male was full of energy and vigor, which was becoming more common of him compared to before Myrle had shown up. She gave him a reason to do something with himself.

It always took Myrle a few minutes to fully wake up; never long. Watching him, she gave a soft laugh and a lick to his muzzle before finally waking up enough to start a decent conversation. "...You're a night walker too, Grin," she laughed out, snorting. Of course she'd noticed how much younger he seemed with her around. And it made her wonder why they hadn't been together before. Why they didn't meet earlier in her travels. "I heard something giving birth before I settled down. Another wolfess, I think..."

He tilted his head, he had heard nothing, but of course he had fallen asleep before Myrle as usual. "I did not hear anything." he said licking at his own nose. "I have been thinking though...." he said turning around and eying the way to the forests edge which led back to the stream where they had first met. "You know, about what we've been talking about for a while now." he said raising his tail high in the air and starting off a little. There was no way he'd be able to sit still while on the subject of pups at the moment now that he had made his mind.

Myrle watched him get antsy as he spoke, and she moved after him, tail still tucked close to her backside. Masking the scent. That was usually why Chagrin turned in before Myrle. She hated making him suffer through the intoxicating scent that drove her mad as well as him. They had both gotten better at ignoring the scent, in all, or trying too. But there was always those occasions where things would happen. Shaking her head at those thoughts, she gave a smirk and picked up her pace to brush after him. "Thinking's dangerous on your part, Chagrin," she teased, grinning. "But what's your conclusion?"

Chagrin looked back at Myrle with an almost stupid grin with his tongue lolling from the side of his mouth. "I say there is no time like the present" he said heading off ahead of Myrle continue to chatter almost to himself. "Now is a perfect time of the year for pups really if you think about it and there's no point in us actually outing them off, especially since we plan to travel when they are old enough to do so. We're both ready to have pups..." he said almost finally. He was excited, happier than he had ever been. He just hoped Myrle agreed with him.

She blinked at that and attmpted to catch up once again, nipping at his fur a bit as she walked with him. There was a huge grin on her face, but not like his. "No time like now.... Got that right," she said, still unsure of what to do. She did wag her tail a bit, raising it slowly and swallowed. Myrle wanted to eat, to already be pregnant with puppies, and eat for them. "I want to get fat with puppies..."

He laughed heartily at Myrle. "Soon enough you will be my Love!" He said his heart bursting with joy. He had a new bounce to his step he almost felt as though he were floating. If he felt this good now he could only imagine how he would feel once they actually had pups. Now he wondered, how many would they have, what would they be, who would they resemble? Those were questions he could never answer for himself, only fate knew such answers but he looked forward to them. Into the forest he trod the air smelled so much fresher to him, the trees greener.

Myrle leaped with Chagrin and chuckled, getting ahead of him and turning around, looking at him with a spark in her eyes. She yipped at him and then padded off ahead, towards the waterfall. Once there, she stepped into the ever changing creak and lapped at the cold water, letting it run down her throat and into her empty stomach, which promptly growled. Huffing a bit at that, she snorted into the water and sneezed afterwards, blinking when the water hit her face. "....Let's bet a bath in the water. Roll around on the rocks?" She said, looking to see where her mate had gone too.

Chagrin laughed and leaped after her tail held high in the air. At the waterfall he dived into the waters and swam around the deeper parts, enjoying the feeling it gave him. "I'm way ahead of you" he yelped out to Myrle grinning. The cool water flowed through her fur, soaking him to the skin. He made his way back to Myrle and shook his soggy coat, spraying water everywhere. "Feels great in there." he said.

She followed him into the water and shook her head, watching him grin like a pup. Myrle was so pleased she could make Chagrin happy like this; it made her heart swell. She wouldn't say that out loud, however, it was slightly to mushy for her. Laying down in the water, she let out a shiver and licked her maw and chuckled. "It does. Really cools one down, doesn't it?" Her voice rang out with a laugh.

Chagrin licked at her face. "Yes, it feels good with the heat we have been going through, I dare say it feels colder than usual doesn't it?" he laughed giving a loving n** to her ears. He laid himself by her side. "This is going to be very different...I have neer been around pups before..." he confessed feeling a bit embarrassed. He had little to no memory of his passed and was sure he wouldn't know what to do with a litter of pups no matter how big or small the litter may be.

I know a little bit. Not much. Just from watching my mom and aunts around pups," she said confidently, nodding before leaning into him. She nipped at his neck fur affectionately and swished her tail in the water, sending it over their backs to help cool the hot wolves down further. "Don't worry, Grin. You'll do fine. You're already attentive. It'll come natural, I think?" She wasn't quite sure, but she knew her mate would be a wonderful father.

Chagrin licked at her face again. "I dearly hope so, I am really looking forward to this!" he whined wagging his own tail stirring up the minnows that swam around them. "This is very exciting..." he said staring down into the water then back up at Myrle. "I mean, I've really always wanted a pack family of my own, my own pups...I just never thought it would really happen and now..." he laughed. The way he felt was almost as though his heart would beat out of his chest, he couldn't help it.

The female chuckled at his eagerness an nodded. She knew what he meant. This was exactly what she'd hoped for as well; a pack and family. Carrying on her parents' proud bloodline. She flopped over on her side, resting her head against his shoulders so she didn't go under. The water just sank through her thick coat and made her feel so much better tonight. And the discussion they were having made her feel so young! "I know. I know, I know. I wonder how many we'll have. Maybe four? It's a good number. Even two is. Something... on the small side?" She asked, looking up to him with a cheerful but curious expression.

Chagrin nodded. "Yes, a small litter would be better for us, it would be hard with a large litter like six!" He laughed. "Somewhere between 2 and four sounds quick good to me." he sighed. His mind wandered the the idea of pups romping with him in the field play fighting, teaching them how to hunt and trail. Oh what he wouldn't do for the time to fly and the pups to be with them. Here they hadn't even tried yet and he was daydreaming as though they were already on the way. He knew he would have to wait. "Eventually we're going to have to choose names as well... But of course the names have to suit them for who they are." he said licking his nose looking out to the falling water.

Myrle nodded a bit more and yawned after a moment, eyes closing. She wasn't quite awake yet, but she felt amazing. "I want to know genders before we think of names. Well, seriously think of names. I know you know one of the names I have in mind." She said, ears flicking this way and that, listening to the rabbits hop around. "....I'm not even hungry anymore. I'm to excited to hunt, right now," she murmured, getting up on her paws and shaking herself out.

He stood up with her shaking himself again sending out the cool spray of water from his own pelt. "Yes, it would be best to know the genders of them before we truly consider names." he nodded "Remind me again of the name you like, Love. You know I am a bit scatter brained and forget things." he laughed despite himself. He didn't often forget things within his mind and he often hoped that he would not be a wolf who would lose his memories and wander not remembering who he was or those around him that he loved. "But you should still eat, that way you are plenty healthy to bare pups!" he nudged at her neck. "We'll hunt small tonight, something easy, it will be fun."

"Jayel... I love that name. It could be male or female," she said with a gri. Yes, her love could be so scatterbrained, but that was fine. She knew she could work around any of his flaws because she had plenty of her own. With a slow hum at the nudge, she shook her head a little bit and stuck her tongue out. "I know, but..." She sighed. Myrle honestly didn't feel like hunting tonight. Yes, the wolfess knew she'd be hungry later, but she was content right now. "I'm alright, really. I'll eat before the night's over. Promise.."

"Jayel..." he tried the name, it rolled off his tongue nicely, he liked it. He squinted a golden eye at her. "I will make sure you eat tonight before we return to the den, even if I have to hunt myself. Eventually I will have to do so for a while as it is." he nodded to himself. "Once you have the pups you will have to stay with them and I will provide the food until they are old enough to be left behind." he said licking her nose. Of course he would be a protective father and not plan to hunt too far from the den for the sake of the pups, he knew it would be dangerous to leave them alone.
