Summary: Paul gives Till suggestions on his poems.
Speechless
"How 'bout bunnies? Pink ones, with big ears and fluffy tails! Or how 'bout that tree we just passed or the speed limit sign or the mountain of clothes in the corner or the puppet I made from your sock or the chunky milk in the fridge or the look on Richard's face when I spilled his favorite nail polish or what you ate last night or something one of the band members did or a monster or a frog EVEN BETTER, a monster frog that devours the poor unsuspecting citizens of Tokyo after it immobilizes them with its deadly croak of doom!"
"Paul, shut up."
He frowns at me before answering, "What?! Im just giving you ideas to make your poems more interesting!"
"My poems are fine. If you'd stop your ceaseless chatter, I might be able to get them done before the deadline."
He looks at me, a wounded expression blemishing his innocent face, then stares down at his folded hands in his lap. Finally, all is quiet.
My sigh of relief is cut short when I see his mouth open again, but this time his words are soft and almost inaudible.
"How about love?"
I feel my chest tighten and suddenly have the urge to swallow. With trembling hands, I remind myself of the delayed task before me and try to regain the silence I so very need.
"Yeah! You could write about the kind that, at first, fills your stomach with butterflies!" He continues with a renewed vigor.
"Paul." I try to gain his attention and fail to do so.
"But then it leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy"
"Paul." I try again, and still to no avail.
"And a simple touch from your lover will send shivers down your spine"
"Paul!"
"-and their kiss could render you speechless--mmph!"
I pull back, absolute silence fills the room.
Grinning, I say, "Completely speechless."
