Yes. I have discovered Fruits Basket. I started reading the manga and fell in love with it. I only got past Vol. 3 cuz thats the extent of my school library gonk I need more.. My public library doesnt even have a manga section. Its the first time the library let me down sad I should petition for a wider manga selection at my school. Right now it consists of about 6 different manga series ( Vol. 1-3)on a teeny shelf in the corner. So tell me.. does the anime do the manga justice?
EDIT: Guesss what? I found volumes 4-6 on the manga shelf! The librarian said she found them somewhere where they weren't supposed to be.. but nonetheless I HAVE THEM! and what's even better is that I asked her about vol. 7-12 and she said she'd order them! Oh yeah *does a happy dance*

sabre_sword So tell me.. does the anime do the manga justice?
In some ways it does, an in others it doesn't. Since the manga series is fairly long, they compressed/left some stuff out of the anime that I think would have made the series better if it had been included...like the other student council members. ^.^ ninja ...Though there are some plot events I'm glad they left out of the anime...(I'm looking at you, Akito and around chapter 97 of the manga. stare ) (semi spoiler written in white)
But, yes, I suppose it does do it justice, especially since it does managed to keep closer/more relavent to the manga then some other anime adaptions out there.

He's gotta point. The anime is... a little cheap, well compared to the manga (my opinion, of course) but i mostly see more of the manga instead instead of the anime, but they both are good. Its just that one is better than the other. If you cant get the manga from school or libraries, try stores, some let you rent out books as long as you dont damage them. Well, they do when you hang out with an employee alot... oh well! 4laugh You can always watch the anime or go to websites that have pages of the books. Cant name them now, but i'll keep my eyes out for you!

I started reading it SO long ago... last year I believe... when no one even knew about it. They'd be like: Fruits Basket what? But now everyone knows about it. I'm glad about Fruits Basket's new-found popularity. So obviously, since I started reading it last year, I have all 11 books so far, and 4 DVDs, and other assorted Fruits Basket merchandise. And no, the Anime doesn't do the Manga justice. The Manga is a little darker (in meaning), and it obviously goes on much longer than the Anime. The Anime only covers about books 1-6 of the Manga, while the Manga goes up to atleast volume 20 something according to what my friends say.

I heard it goes to 18... anyways... the anime follows the same plot and doesn't change much of the storyline in the manga. The manga has a little more depth than the anime... so yea... I prefer manga the manga... 3nodding (Your library has a manga section?! LUCKY!!!!!!)

I have an important question.. sort of.. I left Vo.l 5 and 6 at school so I have to wait til monday to get them and Im dieing.. ANYWAY.. I know im gonna figure it out soon but I want to know! Whos hat is it that Tohru has? Is it one of the Sohmas'?Or just some random dude?

The hat is Kyo's, technically, but she got it from Yuki who stole Kyo's clothes to sneak out of the family estate/main house.

OMG I finished Vol 6. Im going nuts. I cried my eyes out. See pages 85-101 in Vol. 6. My friend Jackie told me that if I cried reading the manga I would bawl my eyes out watching the anime. She told me it was like 10x more emotional. I WANNA WATCH IT! gonk gonk gonk

I'm not sure exactly which volume its from, but it's in one that hasn't been translated by TokyoPop yet. *cough* scanlations *cough* So it's probably, on guestimate, in volume 15 or 16, though that could be way off.
...I'm pretty sure Furuba ends around volume 18..or at least thats what I've heard. And on a random side rant...CLAMP needs to stop being stupid and finish X/1999. I swear they love to torture fans...something along the lines of "Let's take a break from the series when we get to the second to the last volume!" gonk mad

sabre_sword Ok so the big question, Yuki or Kyo?
As a character, I like Yuki more of the two. But as far as the whole Tohru triangle thing goes...I definitely think Kyo is more suited for her. (Or the other way around...in all honesty, I don't like her that much in any case...but Kyo and Tohru would make the better couple.)
In any case, Haru is still my favorite character. whee
