Name: Alinna
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank: Sr. Weyrling
Appearance: Alinna stands at a tall 5’ 8” and has a perpetual tan that leaves all of that skin a golden-olivey color. Her thick dark locks are shorn off to hang about shoulder-length and is rarely worn down, usually only for Gathers and the like. The rest of the time her hair is usually either tucked under her riding helmet or pulled into a short, tight French braid to keep it out of her face. She has a small aquiline nose and a pouty lower lip she has a tendency of sucking on when she’s lost in her thoughts. Her arched brows have a tendency to lift in mock-amazement or arch in sarcastic amusement over her large, long-lashed brown eyes, giving her a wide-eyed innocence or thoroughly jaded and wicked appearance. Her curves aren’t particularly spectacular, though noticeable in her riding pants or in dresses with tighter fitting tops, depending which part of her you’re looking at. Her hands are covered in a light layer of calluses from her time as a Weyrling and having to do a Weyrlings chores and work.
Personality: Alinna is a strong-willed young woman with a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that sometimes makes her realistic view of the world sound more like pessimism. Although she takes life with a grain of salt, she is very serious about being a good rider and she’ll try to keep those around her training at her level of excellence. Friends come fairly easily to Alinna once they get over her apparent pessimism, and she’s a strong and loyal friend who has no problem engaging in a little fist-fighting to help a friend or counter a slight to her or those she knows. Most things roll off her back like water—when she doesn’t want to take issue with them—but betrayal in any form is the one thing Alinna has trouble recovering from. It would take a good long time and plenty of shows of loyalty before she’ll trust someone again after they’ve betrayed her, and would always afterwards hold a bit of that doubt in her heart. She’s fairly stubborn when she has to be, and is good at organizing people when things need to be done.
History: Alinna hails from Nabol Hold, where her father works in the stables and taught her the joys of hard work. Alinna has one sibling, her younger brother, Thanaran, and although he’s several years beneath her he and Alinna managed to have a not beastly relationship while she lived at Nabol. When she was 17 she was called to Stand, but no dragon came to her, so she waited like a good Candidate at Telgar Weyr for the next Hatching, where she Impressed Koriganth. Alinna always swears thanks to the Weyr for Searching her, because she had no idea what else she would have done.
Pet(s): N/A
Other: Although she is bisexual—which is good considering her dragon’s color—she has a tendency to lean towards men more than women. Alinna also has aspirations to become a Wingsecond once she and her dragon have had enough experience flying Thread.
Dragon: Koriganth
Age: Less than a turn
Color: Brown
Appearance: Standard Brown here! Koriganth will be on the smaller side of Browns, but that’s still large by any standards. His hide, however, is just the simple, uniform brown that most Browns tend to have, and all signs point to the average wingspan for his length.
Personality: Alinna and Koriganth make a great team primarily because they share a similar mindset on most things. Loyal, hard-working, and intensely driven. Koriganth is fairly laid-back, and he draws amusement from just about everything he’s presented with, unless someone is suffering. He’s got an unbiased view of the world– partly thanks to his rider, no doubt— but for all of that he manages to keep an upbeat attitude and tries to pull a smile or a laugh from any dragon he talks with, especially if they’re unhappy. Just because the world is a harsh place doesn’t mean you can’t have a sense of humor and be happy. When there is trouble, though, Koriganth focuses on the task at hand with serious, single-minded determination. When Alinna’s rare temper kicks in or she becomes stubborn with someone without a good reason, Koriganth is the force that helps her ease back a bit and talks her down to a level temperament again.
Other: If asked why he chose a female for his rider, Koriganth usually looks amused and just says that once he felt Alinnamine among the Candidates, she didn’t give him much choice. He shares Alinna’s passion for becoming a Wingsecond and works hard to hold up his end of that dream.
