Chagrin howled out to the waning mood with his joy atop the boulder over the den he and his mate Myrle shared. Their talks, contemplating, planning, digging out the den to accommodate pups, and now Myrle was gaining weight. She had to be hiding pups within her womb, he just knew it, there was doubt in him mind. He was jittery with excitement, but he wasn't sure Myrle was noticing her weight gain at all. Scars forepaws danced on the rock, bespeckled back end waving with his tail as he raised thes higher beings for the gift that he was sure they were being granted. He would have a family; one he could and would always remember!

The sleeping female wasn't noticing her weight just yet. Her ears twitched to the howl and her stomach growled. She had been eating a ton more lately, making Chagrin go on more hunts. She'd been tired as well; sleeping well through the night and only up for a few short hours to eat and talk before she was asleep again. Pregnancy combied with the heat, but she didn't know that. Harks twitching to the howling again, one liquid gray eye opened and she gave an answering bark as she lifted her weight up and attempted to stretch out. Her muscles were stiff from her constant sleeping. "Mmm..." She stepped out of the den and looked about the night lit area before frowning a bit more. She was hungry..
.
Chagrin noticed the female poking out of the den, he bounded down and immediately began licking her face. "How are you feeling?" he asked whining slightly nuzzling her, how could she not see it? But all the same, it was her body and she may have just been taking the changes in stride thinking them as nothing more than fatigue from the heat. He'd been hunting constantly, but this time he was ready, he'd some how found a next of sleeping quail and grabbed one, it was quite fat and een had a nest of eggs. He had taken care of the eggs and brought the quail for his love. "I brought you a quail" he whined up at her.

She gave a pleased, sleepy noise at the licking, adoring it like she usually did. With a sigh she stretched out a little more before nuzzling into his neck, puffing softly and nipped at his ears, tugging happily. Settling back, she sniffed around for the quail and arched a brow. "Where?" She asked. It was clear that Myrle wasn't awake yet. But she did pick up on his excitment. Why he was, she was fixing to ask. "Why are you whining? ...And so excited?" She asked, watching him with that ever gentle smile. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you'd gotten even more open!"

Chagrin trotted around the boulder and grabbed the quail and brought it back to Myrle and set it down in front of her. His entire body seemed to be wriggling with his wail, which was creating a breeze of it own. "Myrle, love..." he nuzzled against her. "Don't you realize the weight you're gaining, how you're always hungry and tired. You must be with a litter!" he whined. He was sure of it, he had to be right, they've been trying as soon as they had agreed upon having a litter. They had to have been blessed with their wish of pups.

Arching a brow, she tore into the quail without a second thought and chewed it up nice and small before she swallowed and dove in for a second bite. But before she could, she looked up with a jerk of her head to her mate and frowned. "I don't think so. I'd notice.... I'm just.. it's the heat. Makes me hungry and sleepy." She'd felt little things moving in her stomach. Of course she knew she was pregnant, but she'd been hoping to keep it a surprise for a while longer. "...Maybe I am... Feel my stomach and see." She said, looking down at the quail, wanting to finish it off really fast before anything really happened.

Chagrin sneezed in laughter, how in the world could she think such a thing! As the idea is feeling for pups Chagrin stomach twisted a little, scared and excited, nerves bunching up and making him jittery. But the brown male inched forward laying the side of his large head against her stomach, ear pressed against to see if he could hear anything. He half expected little whines, but no such noises reached him but rather the quail Myrle was eating sure made a noisy trip to her stomach. Just when he was least expecting it a thud hit him in the side of the face, then another! "I feel them!" he yipped front paws dancing again against the grass beneath his paws. "I can feel them Myrle!!"

She felt that kick and winced at it. Yep, definately puppies! Myrle laughed and licked his maw a few times before she got back to the quail, finishing it off quickly, licking the blood off her maw and then sighed happily. She felt better after eating it; getting her energy back. Her own paws danced a bit as she giggled and snorted. "I was hoping to surprise you later on... you know, like when they were born. I think it'd be fun." With another giggle, Myrle nipped at his ear and tugged heavily- You're like a puppy yourself!

He laughed nuzzling her neck. "I don't think you could have hid it from me that long, you may have a thicker coat than I do, but that weight really shows love!" he laughed. He was right, he was right! Pups! He could only speculate how many she was carrying, but by the looks of it there were at the very least 2 in there, he hoped the litter wouldn't be too big for them to handle, be either way, they would made due no matter how many they had. "I can not help it." he whines at her liking her maw. "I'm so excited, I've never been this happy in my life!"

The whining was making her laugh, it clearly showed how much he was enjoying her being pregnant. It meant Chagrin would have a family he could remember. He'd better remember them, Myrle'd make that clear later on. Stretching out, she laid down on her stomach, tail thumping against the ground with a noise . "You know, you're almost more excited than me! Of course you are. We get a family, hm? That we've been planning. ....I wonder how much longer."

He nuzzled down next to her, nipping her ears and then licking at them. "I've always wanted a family, and now I can really having one, after so long." he sighed. Shaking his heavy head, he had no idea even exactly how far along Myrle was, he was not used to pregnant females in the slightest so he knew nothing of the workings of motherhood. "I know...but...it's hard not to, knowing we're making a family of our own, just the two of us was one thing, but this is a completely different experience. After being by myself and then you came along, and now pups. It's almost too much to take in."

"I know you've wanted this," she murmured softly, watching him and chuckling at the nipping. Big puppy he was, honestly! With a smirk, she thumped her tail against his rear and looked innocently cute. "So, daddy. Pick out a name or two. Feels like their's at least..two."

He sat there contemplating, this had been the last thing on his mind..what names did he like? "Well..." he mulled over a few that stuck him, he had a beautiful females name, but a males name he was a little stuck on. He supposed it more rather depened on the pup more than anything. "I like the name Aranel for a girl..." he said finally. "but or a boy...I'll have to think a little more, I'm not too sure." he sighed continueing to think laying his head over her paws.

She nodded and watched him think for a moment before chuckling and resting her head on his own. Ugh, she was getting so worn out lately over nothing. She absolutely hated it! Myrle's nose sniffed for a minute and then sneezed hard and abruptly. Blinking after that, she opened her mouth wide in a long, but quiet yawn. "Nnn... I like Danile for a boy.."

"That is a nice one..." he mumbled, yawning after her with a slight whining yip at the end of his own yawn. He was still debating, what did he like? Then one his him, yes, it was a nice one, full of meaning. "I have one! Turin or Erynion" he said with enthusiam, yes, they were decent names with plenty of stong meaning behind them. Ones name always had a reflection on their personality. "What do you think love?" he asked his golden eye turning up to her silvery ones.

She pondered on his suggestions for a while, getting a feel for them. "Turin is a pretty name. What do they mean?" She asked, looking down at him and then lapping at his muzzle. Her names didn't mean anything. At least, she didn't think they did. Myrle was prone to come up with the most random names and nicknames when given the chance. Clearly, this was the perfect oppartunity for it.

"Turin means Victorius, while Erynion means Of the Woods, which I think are well suitable." he said with a smile. It was sill dazzling his mind that he would be having a family. He was even beginning to feel a little worn out, even though he had not even been awake all that long. Maybe he was just sensing how Myrle felt, it wasn't unheard of at least.

She stretched out more comfortably, flopping over on her side so her stomach wouldn't be constrained. The living things inside Myrle's stomach were calm now. No doubt asleep since they'd been a flurry of movements all through her sleep. Just because she was asleep didn't mean she didn't feel the movements. "Mm.. Erynion seems perfect for our little family..." Since they were 'from the woods'.

"Yes, that's why I like it so much." he laughed, looking back at her swollen abdomen. Things were finally panning out for him. A mate and a family, things he had once only dreamed of. "I think you making me tired Myrle." he laughed sleepily. He couldn't help himself, he want to curl up with Myrle and rest, hunting had been easy enough, so by all technicality he should have been full of energy.

The female grinned at the admission and chuckled softly, tail thumping lazily. "Oi, I blame your spawn. Getting me so tired after I eat.... It's weird." Giving off another yawn, Myrle shut her eyes, finally and sighed deeply. What would she do when the pups were born? She had no clue on how to give birth. Mother didn't teach her that part.

Chagrin nuzzled against Myrle again. "You wanted them as well, so you can blame yourself just as much as me." He wondered how much longer Myrle had until the pups would be born, it couldn't be long, that was at least for sure with how large she was. She couldn't be more than a week or two away if he was guessing right, but what did he know about birthing pups? Nothing, that was for sure.

He was right. She wanted them must as much as Chagrin did. Her mate should know that she wasn't placing the blame soley on him. Not yet, anyway. Not until the pain started, if there was a lot of pain. That's when she'd blame him. Yawning a little more, she snorted and nuzzled against the ground more and huffed. "Mmm.. Night.."

He smiled and licked at her nose. "Good night, Love." he mumbled laying back down, the two of them under the waning moon that lit up the sky with it's eerie blue glow, soon the sun would shine down upon them probably waking them up, forcing them into the den to escape it's heat, only to relax again.
