So far, today was going well. She'd just left the humans and so her coat gleamed, and her long mane and tail were free of knots. She looked good, and she liked to look good; looking bad just wasn't an option. You had to take care of yourself, there were standards to keep up, and of course stallions to impress. They always did compliment her when she returned looking sleek and pristine, and though she knew some of that had to be due to her family's rank she liked to think she was really rather pretty as well.

There was a patch of mud ahead, thankfully she had spotted it in time. Sabina came to a halt and cast around for the shortest clean route to take. Ah, just a little to the right the ground was dry. Shuffling her wings and swishing her tail, the young mare made her detour carefully; sometimes ground that looked just fine concealed a small bog that would get her hooves, fetlocks, and the end of her tail all dirty and she would have to go straight back to the humans to get clean again; she refused to return looking anything less than perfect.

Now taking rather more care where she put her hooves, Sabina moved onward; she was nearly home now, she just hoped nothing went wrong in that short distance.

Where were his dreams? Sweeney flicked his tail with impatience. Where had they gone? It had been weeks since he had been in his dream world. Why couldn't he find his way back? Who knows what that damned Judge was getting away with? And after all he had done to his poor Lucy, and who knew where he might be keeping Joanna. It was all too much for him. He needed back in and he didn't know how.

The Bae let out an exhausted sigh. There wasn't much he could do for his dreams and for now he would just have to live in the present world. Though he didn't know how much good it would do him. Honestly he hadn't done much living in this one. More like surviving so he could continue on in his dreams.

A little rumble emitted from his stomach. When was the last time he had eaten? Thinking back he really didn't remember. Perhaps it was sometime the day before? In any case it was time to eat again. Sniffing the ground he found a small patch of edible grass and began nipping at the long blades. Maybe if he put some more food into his stomach his mind would feel better and he could try his dreams again. They couldn't be gone forever could they?

So busy had she been navigating around the mud, she hadn't seen the Bae until she was almost on top of him. Coming to a halt, Sabina whinnied a greeting to the dappled grey. "Hello there," she called cheerfully, "it's a lovely day, isn't it? I'm Sabina, my herd lives not far from here. Who are you? I don't think I've seen you before." She supposed she might have seen him before - he was a bit forgettable - but she was sure they'd never spoken and that was what really mattered for politeness. Forgetting somebody you had talked to before was really very very rude, and goodness knew she didn't want to show herself or her family up like that.

Sweeney's head shot up at the sound of another's voice. Before him stood a black Jala mare. At first he was surprised. Had he really been so far off in his own thoughts that he hadn't noticed her? He really did need to get out more. Her eyes were of a golden color and her wings looked quite strong. They definitely looked a bit more sturdy than his. As he studied her he noticed she was clean, too clean. There wasn't a clump of dirt to be found. Sweeney then took a look at his own coat and was instantly embarrassed. When was the last time he'd had a bath?

"Err, sorry miss I didn't see you there. I'm Sweeney, Sweeney Todd. I'm from London, haven't been much of anywhere else. Though I can't seem to get back there for some reason." He trailed off for a moment and was lost in thought. Perhaps he shouldn't have mentioned his dreams. No doubt she wouldn't know about London. Oh, but she had mentioned the weather hadn't she? He looked up at the sky then. How long had it been since he had looked at the sky? Or noticed rain? "I suppose it is a rather nice day isn't it?"

He was trying to be friendly, really he was. It was just so difficult and he hadn't had much practice at it in quite some time. Perhaps she would forgive him a little. Hopefully she didn't notice just how dirty he was either. There had to be somewhere he could get cleaned up.

(((London only exists in Sweeney's dreams.. obviously not real in the Nequus world.)))

((^^ Cool))

Lon-don? Oh dear, she'd never heard of that place! Sabina instantly felt silly and ignorant, and resolved to ask somebody about it as soon as possible. Maybe it was a region of D'ob or something? A herdland? She'd have to find out, then she could impress her friends by knowing about such an exotic sounding place. Lon-don. She liked it.

"No problem," she smiled, "I didn't see you until just now either, off in my own little world. I haven't been anywhere much save here, Ryuten, but more specifically my herdlands like I said... What's it like in Lon-don?" she might as well ask the expert! People back at the herd might not know about it, if they didn't then she could impress everyone! "I must admit I've never heard of it, it had such an interesting name though!"

Oh dear what had he done? Well he might as well tell her. "Sorry miss I," He paused for a moment unsure of what to say. How should he put it? 'Oh sorry miss I'm completely insane and live within a fake dream world and barely keep myself alive in this one'? He knew there wasn't something right with his dreams but he didn't have to go telling her how crazy he really was. Then again did he really care?

Sweeney flicked his tail in frustration and winced a little when he hit his flank a little too hard. "I probably shouldn't have mentioned London to you." He took in a deep breath. "It's just this place that I go when I dream. It honestly doesn't really exist except in my own little world." Well, he might sound crazy but at least he told her the truth.

Oh how he wished London were real though. And she had shown so much interest in it. Perhaps she might still want to hear about it? Or she would see him for the insane Bae he was and leave. That was probably the smart thing for her to do. "I could still tell you about it though if you would like to know." If he was to function in his present world he could at least try to have a conversation with someone.

Oh well that explained a lot! Sabina giggled and shook her head. "That's alright, I have places I go in my dreams too. I think life would be boring without places that don't actually exist... at least not in this world." She wished some of her dreams were real; the places, and the people. A land with golden grass and softly purple skies, where there was never any dirt, where everything was perfect, and where she had a true love... Dreams were wonderful things.

"If it's not a private dream I'd love to hear about it," Sabina said after some moments. "Nobody ever wants to talk about dreams with me anymore. They say it's foal stuff." Maybe they were right, but she didn't care. She loved to dream, at night and during the day. One day maybe part of her dreams would come true; the world would always have mud, but one day it might just have a wonderful stallion to be her mate as well.

Sweeney was a little embarrassed by the foal comment but no matter. Obviously if she was asking him about his dreams then she mustn't think the same as everyone else.

"It's a little complicated. I'm not even sure how to get back there now, but for the longest time every time I fell asleep I ended up in London. It's an interesting place with stone footing and dark air. I don't really know how to properly describe it. Hardly any grass grows but I suppose it doesn't much matter. No need to eat while in a dream right?" He attempted to smile then thought better of it and continued on. "I rather wish I could get back there. That awful Judge Turpin took my Lucy from me." He trailed off there and was lost in thought for a few moments.

His world was such agony when he lost her. His beloved Lucy. Even if she didn't exist outside of his dreams he still loved her. The Judge would pay. Oh he would pay dearly for what he had done. Mrs. Lovett had been his only friend left in that world and now he didn't know where to find her. He knew she existed in Urin too but he wasn't sure where.

"I'm sorry, I know they don't really exist but my dreams feel more real to me than this reality. You probably think I'm crazy don't you?" He waited to see just how long it took her to find and excuse to leave. It was always the same. Anyone he told of his world always left him.

"Umm..." Sabina tilted her head on one side, trying to get her head around what the stallion had said. London sounded kind of weird and scary, not a place she wanted to end up, her won dreams were way more fun. "I don't know," she said eventually with a shrug of her wings, "I guess everyone's different. I know plenty of people with weirder things about them than having a dream world. Like me, I totally freak out if I get muddy, or if I can't get things just perfect. I guess that's a bit crazy, hu?"

She didn't usually just go ahead and admit her weird obsessions to people, but this Sweeny was a bit weird too so she supposed it didn't matter. Besides, it might be nice for him to know he wasn't the only strange person around like he seemed to believe right now. "I've got a weird sister, too," she went on with a slight smile. "She ran off from our herd and joined a weird one that thinks only Jala are real people just so that there would never ever be the chance of her having to have an arranged mate. I think that's really weird, way weirder than having a dream world." Sekhmet worried her, she knew she ought to love her sister but she just couldn't manage it; they were practically opposites, and in this case opposites didn't attract at all.

Sweeney tilted his head a little and thought about what the mare was telling him. She couldn't stand getting dirty huh? Hmm. It was an interesting thought. He debated about flicking a little mud her way, just for amusement and to watch her reaction. No. She had been too kind to him for that.

Her sister definitely did seem weird. Then again he wasn't entirely sure he blamed her for not wanting to have an arranged marriage. But was it worth upsetting her family over? Perhaps so. I mean, she had done it apparently.

It was rather nice knowing he wasn't the only oddball out there, but he had already suspected so. There was that one who ate meat. He couldn't quite remember too much about the fellow, but he did remember his name. Sanue, he thought it was.

"You're sister definitely seems interesting. But as far as oddities go I did meet a Jala who ate meat. I believe his name was Sanue."

"Ew!" Sabina exclaimed with feeling. "For real? Oh that's gross!" Horrified though her tone was the black mare was grinning too; some things were so gross and nasty that they were exciting too, like scary stories. "He doesn't eat Nequus does he?" she asked of her companion with a half horrified half delighted shudder. "That would just be too much!" She'd have to avoid this meat-eating Jala... not that she knew what he looked like! She'd be jumping every time she saw a Jala she didn't know now... oh, unless; "What does he look like?" There, problem solved!... Well so long as Sanue actually knew anyways.

The Bae ruffled his wings a little. Lately it seemed they had been cramping a little. Perhaps they were simply irritated due to lack of use. He would have to get around to actually doing something in this world soon enough. Then turning his attention back to the mare before him, Sweeney answered her.

"Yes indeed he does. He was a gray and had a beak." The Bae stated simply. Upon meeting the Jala he had been an interesting character but he hadn't seemed mean. The fact that he had eaten meat and had a beak hadn't really bothered Sweeney, perhaps it should, but it didn't. After all, how many other creatures ate meat? So this fellow did too. So what?

"I haven't seen the fellow in quite a while though, so I'm sorry if I'm a bit vague on details. I could even be wrong on his color, but I do believe I am correct there. He indeed does have a beak though. That I promise you"

"Beak?" Sabina blinked. "Okay, cool, I can remember that..." This guy was pretty fun to talk to, but she really needed to get home; her trip had taken a while already due to trying to avoid getting muddy. "I should head off pretty soon," the black mare said, turning her head to look towards home. "You can come along with me though if you like, I'm sure you'd like my family, they're cool." Well, some of them were cool, some of them were less so but she was sure Sweeny would get on with them all the same!
PostPosted: Thu Nov 19, 2009 4:54 pm

Sweeney pondered the mare's words for a few moments. Should he go see her family with her? Perhaps. He did need to find Nellie and get back to his dreams but until he had any clues perhaps he could accompany the mare for a while. After all, a little company could do him some good and Sabina seemed nice enough to talk to. Yes, he would try that.

"Well, I don't really want to be a bother. I can understand if you would rather travel by yourself." He gave the mare another chance to change her mind. After all, she may have only been offering just to be nice to him. "I don't really want to intrude on any family business but I wouldn't mind meeting them."

The grey Bae stallion shifted his wings a little allowing them to gleam in the sunlight. To be honest he was getting a little tired of idle chatter and standing around doing nothing wasn't exactly fun. Then again when was the last time he had ever had any fun? Or even just relaxed? Too much thinking again. He needed to take a break. Perhaps visiting this Jala's family would do him some good.

Sabina grinned and shook her head. "No, really, I'd like the company. It's not like it's just my family who lives there so you wouldn't the the odd one out or anything; we're a fair sized herd, all kinds of Nequus live with us." The only thing they didn't have was crossbreeds but, ew, who wanted them around the place? Not her for a start, nor most other people. There were some people who were soft on them of course, but she was not such a person. Seriously, what must their parents have been thinking, bringing freaks like that into the world?...

Still, forget that! It was time to head back before anyone worried. "Come on then Sweeny," Sabina smiled at the Bae, and lifted her tail to keep the end from dragging on the ground, "this way!"
