GALLY Name: Gallium
Nickname: Gally
Birthday: 6/28/04
Stage: Adolescent
Appearance: Gallium, without adornment, is a pinkish silver in color. Her whole body is reflective yet somehow you can see her skeletal structure through her 'skin'. She has long curly hair that falls heavily in front of her eyes. Gallium loves to stay on the up and up in fashion. She draws on tattoos and makeup with sharpies (she's metal!) and she has learned how to pierce and give herself earrings. She tries to style her hair by melting pieces of it off in uneven hairstyles like she sees on TV. She used to act like a moody goth kid but over the years she's developed into more of a 20-something scenester.
Due to her element she begins to 'melt' at any temperature above room temperature. Her body will get gooey and she sticks to things. This also causes her tattoos and makeup to run. No matter how much she melts she seems to continually remain the same size and mass though it's suspected at a high enough heat she would just be a puddle. That has never been tested.
Personality: Gallium is not a bad person persay, but she is a lot to handle. She's aggressive and opinionated. She will tell you what she thinks and why and whatever you say will just drive her further. She is stubborn to a fault and will have her mood drastically shift if she's not getting her way. She isn't dumb but sometimes her stubborn attitude gets in the way of intelligent conversation or debate. Besides this she has a passion for her hobbies and tries to share them with anyone she meets, regardless of the other person's interest.
Hobbies: Gallium loves to draw. She's gotten very good over her 5 years of life. She also has mastered various piercing methods for various species and types despite her small size. Her piercing materials are usually provided by Otium, her older brother, who has a knack for finding metals and valuables. Gally also loves music and it influences most of her art and fashion tastes.

GALLIUM Gallium (pronounced /ˈɡæliəm/) is a chemical element that has the symbol Ga and atomic number 31. Elemental gallium does not occur in nature, but as the Ga (III) salt, in trace amounts in bauxite and zinc ores. A soft silvery metallic poor metal, elemental gallium is a brittle solid at low temperatures. As it liquefies slightly above room temperature, it will melt in the hand. Its melting point is used as a temperature reference point, and from its discovery in 1875 to the semiconductor era, its primary uses were in high-temperature thermometric applications and in preparation of metal alloys with unusual properties of stability, or ease of melting; some being liquid at room temperature or below. The alloy Galinstan (68.5% Ga, 21.5% In, 10% Sn) has a melting point of about 11 °C (51.8 °F).
In semiconductors, an important application is in the compounds gallium arsenide and gallium nitride, used most notably in light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Semiconductor use is now the almost the entire (> 95%) world market for gallium, but new uses in alloys and fuel cells continue to be discovered.
Gallium is not known to be essential in biology, but because of the biological handling of gallium’s primary ionic salt Ga(III) as though it were iron(III), gallium ion localizes to and interacts with many processes in the body in which iron(III) is manipulated. As these processes include inflammation, which is present as a marker for many disease states, several gallium salts are used, or are in development, as both pharmaceuticals and radiopharmaceuticals in medicine.NOTABLE CHARACTERISTICSElemental gallium is not found in nature, but it is easily obtained by smelting. Very pure gallium metal has a brilliant silvery color and its solid metal fractures conchoidally like glass. Gallium metal expands by 3.1 percent when it solidifies, and therefore storage in either glass or metal containers is avoided, due to the possibility of container rupture with freezing. Gallium shares the higher-density liquid state with only a few materials like silicon, germanium, bismuth, antimony and water.
Gallium also attacks most other metals by diffusing into their metal lattice. Gallium for example diffuses into the grain boundaries of Al/Zn alloys or steel, making them very brittle. Also, gallium metal easily alloys with many metals, and was used in small quantities in the core of the first atomic bomb to help stabilize the plutonium crystal structure.
The melting point of 302.9146 K (29.7646°C, 85.5763°F) is near room temperature. Gallium's melting point (mp) is one of the formal temperature reference points in the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) established by BIPM. The triple point of gallium of 302.9166 K (29.7666°C, 85.5799°F), is being used by NIST in preference to gallium's melting point.
Gallium is a metal that will melt in one's hand. This metal has a strong tendency to supercool below its melting point/freezing point. Seeding with a crystal helps to initiate freezing. Gallium is one of the metals (with caesium, rubidium, francium and mercury) which are liquid at or near normal room temperature, and can therefore be used in metal-in-glass high-temperature thermometers. It is also notable for having one of the largest liquid ranges for a metal, and (unlike mercury) for having a low vapor pressure at high temperatures. Unlike mercury, liquid gallium metal wets glass and skin, making it mechanically more difficult to handle (even though it is substantially less toxic and requires far fewer precautions). For this reason as well as the metal contamination problem and freezing-expansion problems noted above, samples of gallium metal are usually supplied in polyethylene packets within other containers.
Gallium does not crystallize in any of the simple crystal structures. The stable phase under normal conditions is orthorhombic with 8 atoms in the conventional unit cell. Each atom has only one nearest neighbor (at a distance of 244 pm) and six other neighbors within additional 39 pm. Many stable and metastable phases are found as function of temperature and pressure.
The bonding between the nearest neighbors is found to be of covalent character, hence Ga2 dimers are seen as the fundamental building blocks of the crystal. This explains the drop of the melting point compared to its neighbour elements aluminium and indium. The compound with arsenic, gallium arsenide is a semiconductor commonly used in light-emitting diodes.
High-purity gallium is dissolved slowly by mineral acids.
Gallium has no known biological role, although it has been observed to stimulate metabolism.HISTORYGallium (the Latin Gallia means "Gaul," essentially modern France) was discovered spectroscopically by Lecoq de Boisbaudran in 1875 by its characteristic spectrum (two violet lines) in an examination of a zinc blende from the Pyrenees.[9] Before its discovery, most of its properties had been predicted and described by Dmitri Mendeleev (who had called the hypothetical element "eka-aluminium" on the basis of its position in his periodic table). Later, in 1875, Boisbaudran obtained the free metal by electrolysis of its hydroxide in potassium hydroxide solution. He named the element "gallia" after his native land of France. It was later claimed that, in one of those multilingual puns so beloved of men of science in the early 19th century, he had also named gallium after himself, as his name, "Le coq," is the French for "the rooster," and the Latin for "rooster" is "gallus"; however, in an 1877 article Le coq denied this supposition. (The supposition was also noted in Building Blocks of the Universe, a book on the elements by Isaac Asimov.)OCCURENCEGallium does not exist in free form in nature, and the few high-gallium minerals such as gallite (CuGaS2) are too rare to serve as a primary source of the element or its compounds. Its abundance in the Earth's crust is approximately 16.9 ppm. Gallium is found and extracted as a trace component in bauxite and to a small extent from sphalerite. The amount extracted from coal, diaspore and germanite in which gallium is also present is negligible. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates gallium reserves to exceed 1 million tonnes, based on 50 ppm by weight concentration in known reserves of bauxite and zinc ores. Some flue dusts from burning coal have been shown to contain small quantities of gallium, typically less than 1% by weight.PRECAUTIONSWhile not considered toxic, the data about gallium are inconclusive. Some sources suggest that it may cause dermatitis from prolonged exposure; other tests have not caused a positive reaction. Like most metals, finely divided gallium loses its luster and powdered gallium appears gray. Thus, when gallium is handled with bare hands, the extremely fine dispersion of liquid gallium droplets, which results from wetting skin with the metal, may appear as a gray skin stain.

GUARDIANS Name: Halo (Whether this is her real name or not is unknown) Born: June 11 Job(s) : Part-time writer. Owner of Passional, the "intimates" store of Port Gino. Before moving here she was known to have different jobs here and there but her main source of income is really unknown.
Appearance: Halo is on the average to tall size for a woman. She's gained a little weight in recent years, no longer as stick thin as she used to be, but she still is regarded as thin - yet curvy. Her hairstyles change often but she has dark hair that is never tampered with. Her clothing style is not solid but she is always in something relaxed. Getting older, though not visibly, has expanded her taste in clothes so that while relaxed, she always looks funky-yet-feminine. One of her arms is tattooed in a full sleeve, something that draws attention in a crowd.
Personality: Halo's personality is much different since she first arrived in Gaia. With all the life changing events since she arrived here, she's grown up and mellowed out. She is still the fun-loving crazy woman inside, but externally there is much more of an air of maturity about her. With her husband gone ( missing? ) she has lost her partner in crime and it has clearly affected her on some internal level.
Hobbies and Special Skills: Halo is very good with computers. She loves to read and write. She's a comic nerd and tends to watch cheesy TV and movies and LOVE them. She's also a video game addict and fits in gaming between work and comic book reading as much as possible.
Personal and Family History: Halo doesn't share any info about her family before this point or her life. She did have a mother and a father and she has mentioned a brother every now and again but noone will ever meet them. What she IS and what she's DONE are pure mystery. There has been rumor that she may have a little bit of demon in her, but there is no eveidence to support that.
Theres some talk of her having rather questionable origins based off of her fondness for motorcycles, weapons and leather. There is talk of magic in her blood as well but she's never demonstrated anything of the sort (publicly). How she came to meet Wren is also a mystery that only the two of them know. She and Wren were inseperable before his disappearance.
She lives in Port Gino with her children and tries as much as she can to keep everyone happy. Many of her children and wards have grown, developed or moved away and so she lives mostly a quiet life now.
NAME : Algernon "Algie" Michelin GENDER : Male AGE : 55 OCCUPATION : Retired Auror, Father of Halo RACE : Human (wizard) LIKES : Tea, Reading, Writing, the outdoors, teaching, soft things DISLIKES : Loud commotions, ignorance, intolerance, bullies LOOKS : Algie is a good looking, middle aged man. Even though he is retired, Algie really isn't very old. He has light brown hair that is graying at the temples and a salt and pepper 5 o'clock shadow the majority of the time. As a retiree he feels no need to dress up unless on a special occasion. He's mostly seen in plain shirts with cardigans along with his standard pair of glasses. The only remarkable things about his appearance are his brilliant emerald colored eyes and a tattoo of a green dragon he has on his chest. This tattoo is rarely seen by anyone but himself.
PERSONALITY : Algie is a very laid back sort of man. His exciting lifestyle as a younger man fulfilled most of his life's goals and so now he is a pretty content sort of fellow. He is very giving, always willing and eager to help. He's very knowledgeable on various different subjects as a learned person would be. He doesn't have a significant other so he has a lot of love to give those in his family. He has seen his share of nightmares in his lifetime and he doesn't do much talking about his time as an Auror. He's quick with a smile and laughs at almost every joke. All around, Algie is just a very nice man.
HISTORY : After an exciting life through his twenties and thirties, Algie settled down. He spent some time teaching, a part time job, and even worked a bit in a book store owned by a friend. Most recently his daughter asked him to come and stay in her home to take care of her children while she went away to search for her missing husband. Algie, happy to spend time with his grandchildren and eager to help in any way, moved into her house where he has been living ever since. His grandsons are growing fast and need less and less attention. While Algie is an experienced and skilled wizard he usually only uses magic for everyday activities. Having spent most of his life with an emphasis on powerful magic, he now just avoids it unless it is a dire situation. He certainly wouldn't be someone you would want to threaten, though he avoids confrontation as much as possible. He may even be a bit of a pushover. He mostly reads and enjoys the garden while taking care of his kitten, Fizzgig.
His kitten is literally a fuzzy lump of cream colored fur with bright blue eyes. She's sort of like a tiny blob of kitten. Chubby.. fluffy.. and sleeps a lot. She's really small and can fit in his pocket.

HOME LIFE Alejandro ( Legends ) - Gallium thinks the IDEA of a Vampire in the house is cool, but Alex doesn't live up to her expectations. Lafe ( Legends ) : She is uninterested. Otium ( FD ): Gallium thinks Otium is the coolest child that Halo has and he always helps her get materials for her piercing. Mael ( FD ): Gallium thinks he looks AWESOME. Uncle Tom and Uncle Carmine - She gets along with these men just fine. They help fuel her darker hobbies. OTHER HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS Hela ( HICCUPS ) - Hela and Gallium haven't really met. There is equal chance that they hate each other as there is that they'd be friends. Bloodstone ( SHADOW FIEND ) - Bloodstone is a shadow fiend. Previously bound to Halo he had many hardships. He is now bound to Algie in the hopes of a new, less stressful life. Rurik ( FEIEN FAIRIES ) - Rurik is vain and bossy. He lives with Gallium and Valsharess in a room of their own. His element is metal so he thrives with Gallium as a friend. As much of a friend as he can be. Valsharess ( FEIEN FAIRIES ) - Valsharess is strange and slightly airheaded. She's an adult but she acts very girlish. She loves girlie things. Her sphere of influence is Respiration. Gallium is closest to her of anyone in the house. By this point they consider each other sisters. The house also contains many varieties of ghosts, monsters, medusas and furry beasts that they family has had as pets over the years.
