The Story Thus Far!!!

Haughty, beautiful, and a tad bit egocentric, Haruhi Suzumiya starts things off with a bang at her new high school by announcing that she has "no interest in ordinary humans". Courting Aliens, time-travelers and Espers/Super-humans, the teen starts her own club -- the SOS Brigade (whose aim is to "save the world by overloading it with fun) -- and she recruits Kyon (the only person who'll talk to her) as her first member. Already using the room to read, the mysterious, short-haired Yuki Nagato becomes part of the SOS Brigade, though, all she does is read! Secretly, she's an alien sent to watch over Haruhi! Shortly after, Haruhi practically kidnapps the cute, big-breasted girl known as Mikuru Asahina, who is secretly a time-traveler from the future. Finally, seeing the need for a 'mysterious transfer student', Haruhi recruits Itsuki Koizumi, the brown-haires boy who probably never stops smiling. And-- yes, he's also different. He's an Esper, or, a Human with Powers. Kyon is the only person who actually KNOWS that these others are what they are, but how does he fit into it all, since he's just an ordinary human..?! Well, it turns out that 3 years ago, something happened to Haruhi. She decided that she was to search for anything weird, thus to make life more interesting... but when something gets the girl down, she creates a 'Closed Space' area. These areas can only be entered by Espers, who see that she doesn't destroy the whole Universe... because these three non-humans, Itsuki, Yuki, and Mikuru-- think that Haruhi actually created the current world with a strange power that was probably brought on by her believing in the out-of-the-ordinary. It seems that Haruhi has chosen Kyon to be her only Human friend, and it's his duty to make sure that Haruhi doesn't do anything rash... and to keep her mind from going completely haywire. So, now, they have all the members of the SOS Brigade... and it's their job to search for anything weird! They now spend their days after school, hanging around in the clubroom, thinking of random, zany things to do.
