So after 5 years the sickos were at it again! Gallium couldn't believe it. She'd thought when the Mendel Labs shut their doors so long ago that finally whatever 'Man' she was always fighting had finally done some good and closed that freak show down.

Apparently not.

Her faerie companions, out on their late night flights, informed her just the other day that they'd seen lights in the building. Soon afterword a note had slipped through the mail slot and Algie had told her something about the Labs being restarted (even though he had no idea what he was being dragged into) under a new name.

So here she was, dropped off by her human guardian while he went shopping. She'd found a spot close to the window air conditioner (but not TOO close) where she could stay as solid as possible and observe the room. Since there was no one currently present she used the time to adjust her makeup and tattoos. Keychain sharpies always served her purposes well and her eyes, thickly black lined, scrutinized the art she'd carefully detailed onto her metallic skin before her trip out. Her skills had much improved over the years and today's design was that of smoking skulls and octopuses. She certainly would make an impression when someone, anyone, came into this new and improved lab.

Titanium wasn't sure what he thought of the Mendel Labs being open again. It had been 5 years, more than enough time for him to experience things aside from a bunch of other individuals his size and their frivolous little worries and concerns.

When he'd turned 4 Aster had commented he technically wasn't even supposed to live this long, according to what she'd heard about Mendels. Maybe that was why the labs had repoened; all the annoying ones were gone, but he'd managed to outlive them. Somehow. Inexplicably. Perhaps out of fate. There hadn't been any indication in the notice Aster had gotten in the mail to say otherwise.

She was completely ruining this train of thought from being a happy one, however, by being his conscience.

"So you're saying you're OKAY with being a complete stranger to any of these new ones?" she said, with that tone of 'I don't think you're thinking this through' to her voice.

"I was a complete stranger to most of the previous Mendels, I'll remind you," he replied, sitting with the bulk of his body in the palm of her hand and the remaining length of tail curled around her wrist. While he was typically fairly calm, there was some subtle hints of curiosity in the way he was leaning out over her fingers to study the repaired laboratory building.

"Yeah but... none of those guys you... emerged with? At all?" Aster listed, raising an eyebrow.

"What? No Lithium, no Silver, no Oxygen? I've made terms with that," Titanium said. They were terms that called for a martini. Several really. One for each of them, and the rest he hadn't cared for all that much.

"No Arsenic. And you still haven't grown yet, Mister," she pointed out. That appeared to take a slight bit of wind out of his sails. He probably hadn't stopped to consider the idea of being not only the oldest, but also the only one who wasn't a goody two-shoes.

"Yes. Well, all the more reason to investigate. If you would drop me off outside," he said, uncoiling himself from her wrist after she stooped, and waiting while she opened the door, a mild flick of his tail the only indication he'd heard Aster say she was leaving.

It was a little familiar. The touches from all the old days were gone, but still. Clearing his throat, Titanium gave one last look around, before saying, "Hello?"

Hearing the door open Gallium's head jumped from her careful touch up job. Her heavy curls bobbed unevenly in the weird style she'd managed to clip it into and her many earrings jangled in her ears. A heavy bang still fell across her darkly lined eyes so that despite her decorations, she was still the same old Gallium. She also hadn't grown or changed physically in any way except for the things she'd done to herself.

For her it was just another stupid aspect of their freakish natures.

"Yo!" She would never admit that she was sort of relieved at least one other mendel showed up. To sit by yourself and mope was just so.... 4 years ago. She sort of remembered this guy, but they hadn't been friends.

She rose to her feet, a glob of her hair dropping from her head to the sill in a mirrored splash, and sort of nodded an acknowledgment. "You look familiar. Guess you're not dead, huh?" That was as close to 'it's good to see you' as she would get.

Gallium was up high and this guy was on the floor so using what seemed like a remnant of the old days (a tiny string tied nearby) she threw her sharpie to the floor and carefully climbed down leaving silvery globs wherever her feet and hands touched.

"I'm about to get a little messy.. so .. ignore it or whatever." Gallium frowned and mentally noted that the farther from the AC she got, the more she began to drip and stick to her surroundings. "I should make it frosty in here.."

Ah! So there was someone here! Someone vaguely familiar at that. Titanium squinted a little. It seemed like it should start with a G, but he wasn't sure. He'd fake it. It wasn't Arsenic, but at least it was somebody he didn't have to explain himself to.

"The same to you," Titanium replied, curling himself up to wait. There didn't seem to be a staircase anymore, so until he found some better way of getting up places, he was stuck with the floor. "And the temperature idea is a good one, unless you want half of yourself to drip to the floor before you get here."

She smirked at Titanium (also not remembering his name). "I'm Gallium. We can cut to the chase. I'm pretty sure we both know the deal.. and we're old and supposed to be dead by now. We have plenty excuses for not remembering everyone." Gallium's hips swayed and she spun herself around, resting her hands on them. She was eyeing that string she'd just repelled down and suddenly didn't want to make the effort to get back up.

"We're all gonna have to re-rig this place. It used to be midget friendly. What sort of idiot makes a bunch of tiny .... things and doesn't make it so they can get around!?" Gallium answered her own question, muttering something about stupid human assholes.

"Seen anyone else around?" She only strayed far enough from the cool air to retrieve her fallen sharpie before just folding her legs underneath her and settling on the floor with a strange suctiony sound.

Titanium smirked a little, seemingly happy with the fact that if one of them was going to admit aloud to not remembering, it wasn't him.

"The same ones who repeat the process and still don't give us a way to get off the floor," he commented, waving a hand to indicate the whole room. "Maybe one of the new ones will be industrious enough to make a staircase again." Before some portion of his half a foot of tail got stepped on, preferably.

"No, I haven't. And none of the mailings mentioned who was still with us and who wasn't."

"Well I guess they wouldn't tell us. 'Dear Freak Show Creations- Most of you are ******** dead. Please stop by the lab where we've made it so convenient for your midget asses to get around. New and friggin improved!' " She tossed her head with attitude. Despite her critical words she was smiling. "'Love Dr. I-Have-Evil-Plans-For-Your-Future.'" She punctuated the end of her statement with a toss of her hair.

"Whatever though. It's all just a trap for us I bet. Just wait.. it won't be real long before there's new ones running around and then they are doing experiments on us again." Gallium's mirrored eyes suddenly lit up and widened, her eyes pinned Titanium like a predator with prey.

"Speaking of experiments, you wouldn't want a piercing would you?" She was thinking he'd look pretty wicked with a ring on one of those snakey head frills he had!
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:07 pm

"I don't know, considering what they're doing, you'd think they'd find that fun," he quipped, snickering at the end of it. The statement about experiment caught his attention much more raptly. It only took the rest of them (what was left) five years, but it sounded like people were finally going to agree with him! Maybe these old ones weren't so bad.

"Maybe instead of waiting around for them to do what they want we should make our own first move for a cha -- excuse me?" And just like that, she lost him, and now he was giving her as much of a quirked eyebrow as he could muster. "A what?" The aforementioned cobra hood however seemed to have flattened itself at her idea.

"Piercing! Or ink if you want.. you know.. tattoos." She waved her marked and metallic arm at him. Gallium then rose and walked towards him. She turned her head, lifted her hair and showed him the many rings through her ear. "It's sort of my thing. I have this sister.. well she's not the same SPECIES as me.. but yeah I did her earrings. I'm really good!" She was, honestly, but even if she weren't she'd tell him anything to get to pierce him. "C'mon you are like.. a snake monster! It would look badass!"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:28 pm

"I am certainly not a snake monster," he answered, with a slight tiff,"Titanium is on the periodic table just like the rest of you, I promise." The mental thought of a piercing making him look more like a monster was not one he really enjoyed or thought was that great. He was more refined than that.

"Man, this s**t is bananas."

Zirconium wasn't entirely sure what that phrase meant, but he'd wanted to use it ever since he'd heard it on the radio about three minutes earlier. Despite the fact that he'd already paid a visit to the lab, he still looked up at the impossibly-tall ceilings with wide-eyed fascination, too enraptured to even wave goodbye to his guardian. The flame-haired teen took a good minute or so to stare off into space, and only then did he realize that there were, in fact, others in the room.

He paused for a moment, racking his brain for what he was supposed to do at this point. Introduce himself? Probably. "Hey there," he said with a wide, toothy grin to the two, who fortunately were of similar stature as himself. Mendels, then? Probably. "You guys new around here, too?"

Ti had given Gallium a very flat stare when she abruptly left him, muttering something about needing to powder her nose and how he wasn't being open to the idea of a piercing. Which he wasn't, because it was a stupid idea.

"Hey there."

Titanium turned around, totally missing the fact somebody else had come in entirely. "Hello," he said, giving the flame-haired stranger something of scrutinizing look. Now this one he definitely didn't recall. "To this particular incarnation of it, yes. Are you one of the new ones?"

Zirconium gave the snake-thing a good looking-over, seeing as how it looked like he was getting the same treatment. "If you count new as a few days ago, then yeah, I'm a newbie," he said smugly, the flame of his hair flickering as he crossed his arms, his stance wide like he was ready for a fight.

"What's it to ya?", the mendel asked, tossing his head up with a nod. Zirconium had watched this documentary the day before about the need for males in their natural environment to assert dominance, like rams who locked horns when fighting over a mate. Granted, neither of them had horns, but Zirc figured that he'd go ahead and act as masculine as possible, so that snake-boy wouldn't figure that 'new' meant 'weak'.

Ti quirked an eyebrow at him, hood widening back out since Gallium was gone. Without 'offers' for piercings, he felt more open to give the much younger Mendel queer looks all he liked.

"Considering a few days ago is a lot shorter than years, yes, that's what I meant exactly." They'd gotten really creative with looks since he'd been gone too, it looked like. Neon had glowed, but Neon's head hadn't been on fire. "What element are you?" he asked, tail twitching back and forth.

Zirconium's eyes widened as he listened to the Mendel. "Years? That's nuts!" For all his acted toughness, he did seem genuinely surprised, and for a moment he looked at the snake-man as if he might suddenly explode on contact (or at least hyper-age).

"...I'm Zirconium," the Mendel said, though he was still largely focusing on how old his conversation partner was. "What're you? Is there some sort of Reptilium that I haven't heard of?" He smirked to himself: reptilium. Now that was a good one.
