Welcome One and All to the very first Coral Reef Guild Contest.

STORIES NOW MUST BE SENT IN A PM TO ME WHEN THEY ARE COMPLETE.
Contest Outline:
This Contest will consist of guild members writing a short work of fiction based around their tank and life in their tank. There will be three categories to choose from and each category will have a different aquarium prize. Members will pay 100g to enter in one category. Members may enter more then one category but my pay the entry fee for each category that they decide to join into. This Contest is open only to Members of the guild so if you are not a member you better request an invite ASAP. I will be judging each story and granting the prizes.
Contest Rules:
1. Must be a member of the guild.
2. Must pay entry fee. (fees are not refundable and this is mainly to ensure that we have people participating.)
3. If there are not 5 people signed up in each category the prize for the contest will be canceled. There can be more then 5 people if there is a lot of interest in this contest but if I don’t get the minimum of 5 I will cancel the contest.
4. Story must contain all of the prompts in the story outline or points will be deducted.
5. Keep the stories at a pg 13 level please.
Contest Scoring and Judging
The contest officially opens July 22, 2009. To fully participate in the contest members must pay the fee by sending a trade to angel_of_joy in the amount of 100gold for each story they plan to write. Contest entries must be in by September 22, 2009. That gives you one month to write the story. Stories must be submitted in full to angel_of_joy in a pm which will make it easier for her to read. ONLY SUBMIT FULLY COMPLETED STORIES. Judging will happen after September 22nd and will go until Angel has read all of the stories and evaluated them by the following criteria.
10 points for originality and creativity.
10 points for the prompts.
5 points for spelling and grammar.
Total Score out of 25.

Comedy
First Prize – Lila
Second Prize – 5000gold
Third Prize – 1000gold
Action/Adventure
First Prize – Knight fish
Second Prize – 5000gold
Third Prize – 1000gold
Romance
First Prize – Memphis
Second Prize – 5000gold
Third Prize – 1000gold
Story Prompts:
Comedy
heart fish names
heart random insert of popular culture character (example: fish rounded the overseer when all of a sudden Jack Sparrow draws his sword!)
heart One or more fish has to have an out of tank experience.
heart Visit from an angel or a daemon.
heart Make a reference to the amount of gold that is dropping.
heart longing for a place far away.
heart rock out to an aquarium tune.
heart Rubber Duck!
heart “OMG why did it go dark!?”
heart End with a fantastically out of character and random saying from the main character or your story.
Action/Adventure
heart fish names
heart darkness falls across the land.
heart sword fight!?
heart Pirates and/or Ninjas
heart someone dies.
heart out of tank experience.
heart “Everybody stay calm!”
heart Police
heart make a reference to how hard it is to be heroic in a small tank.
heart end the story with the hero high fiving someone.
Romance
heart fish names
heart walk on the beach.
heart out of tank experience.
heart love triangle.
heart box of chocolates and/or flowers.
heart “I challenge you to a duel!”
heart have someone serenade someone else – include song lyrics but not a whole song.
heart wish upon a star.
heart romantic kiss.
heart end story with the romantic couple walking off into the sunset or being plunged into total darkness by the lights in the aquarium going out in a flash.

FAQ
1. Is there a length or limit? No limits as long as you get the prompts into the stories!
2. Do all your fish names have to be in the story? No not all the fish names but there has to be some.

Omg you are crazyyy. This is pretty cool. Good job! The romance one seems interesting. I will consider it.
And maybe you should change it so that people pm you the stories instead of posting them because it is easy to read something someone else has written and plagiarize it, even if you are not trying to sometimes it can happen subconsciously. I've had bad experiences in contests where people have seen my entries, copied them and made them a little better and then won...... so yeah. I think no one should see any entries until the contest is over.

I've had bad experiences in contests where people have seen my entries, copied them and made them a little better and then won...... so yeah.
