Prelude to Chaos;、私は始める。" (Where You End, Where I Begin)

Welcome into a world fueled by grief, sorrow, greed, self degradation, ignorance beyond comprehension, and egotism beyond belief: the jaws of hell. A world where self limitations pummel the victim into a world of terror. An obscure portal in which the soul is horrifically flawed and far from immortal, though death is something that cannot be implemented--only the erasure of one's inner being. Where the kind at heart face their worse fears. Where the true saviors fall, losing the price of their soul. But do not fret or feel sympathy for these men, for they have lived their lives--they're only fighting for a second chance at a better one than they had prior. Welcome into the dark depths of the underground 'Reapers Game': Shibuya, Japan.

In the late winter of 2009, Shibuya's underground game for the dead surged with dread, horror as the Lion arose from an untimely defeat, declaring all out war against the Composer with his partner, the Seraphim. Mastering both the technique of normality & taboo-ism, erasure was ensured to any reapers who stood in the way of the assault and treachery of this divine Lion, casting judgment upon all that he deemed unworthy. To the Composer's surprise, the Lion was successful in diminishing his minions while reinforcing his own army. The revolution had begun, and there was no going back now--either conquer or be conquered. The Seraphim & the Lion cornered the Composer. Seeing as though there was truly no possible way to destroy a God, the Lion held the angelic being while the Seraphim cast a draining spell upon the Composer--transporting him into another dimension encompassed by noise.

Little did they know, their treachery comes with a price. The realm in which the Composer lie wearily, stripped down in power, abandoned and defenseless began to uproar with the very arrival of the 'God'. "This plane has never been visited before..and if it has been, there's no evidence in reports of any kind, from 'Angels' to 'Reapers'." The strange upset sparked something never seen before or previously reported. "... What the hell is this?", the Composer stated in shock. Fear encompassed the very being's body as a towering, colossally built noise stood upon all others. An animalistic being..? Not in stature. The most humanoid noise ever seen, standing at least 20 feet tall, surrounded by the animalistic, possessed souls--worshipping the deity while it seemingly slumbered, restrained to chains with an emblem in the center of it, resembling that of a Player Pin. As the Composer drew neigh to the deity quietly, the emblem embedded in the middle of the Noise's chest began to pour out vibes so powerful that the Composer buckled in fear. This was far from unexpected. This was never even a thought.

And there he was, standing mightily amongst his newly inherited empire. Staring coldly as the darkness within his heart pours out onto the blood-filled streets of Shibuya's UG, allowing the manifestation to take it's complete transformation. Teams were being assigned. Armies were being built, and no player survived the following week. It was now January, 2010. The Lion grinned wider than he had ever grinned before. Chuckled like he had never chuckled before. Cackled louder than he had ever cackled before. As the crescent moon gleamed onto the battlefield that is Shibuya, Japan--the Lion, Leo Cantus, declared:"I've got big plans for this city. My calculations never fail, Composer. Just for you, this week ... we're gonna raise hell like never before". It has been written: The dawn of a new supremacy has begun.

So that crazy son of a b***h had finally done it.

It had all been behind his back, this usurp of power, and a bizarre emotion of indignation surrounded the vibe of Devante Garcia. He was an Officer now-- the 19 year old felt the power of it moreso than knew it. It's not like Sho (in between the mass genocide of all the Players, Lacey included) had strolled up to Dev and informed him of his promotion. It unnerved the Reaper, made him edgy and restless and all sorts of other anxious adjectives. This wasn't how it was supposed to work in a gang.

I don't like this. Sitting atop the 104 building, Devante reared his head back and took a swig of sake. Tokyo glittered meanly before him, like a steel trap coiled to spring.

I didn't ask 'im to kill 'em. Coulda done it myself no problem.

Jade and Lacey hadn't known what hit them. They'd spiraled into oblivion in each other's arms, Parterners and best friends, martyrs of the undying loyalty they'd unknowingly represented. But he could have done it himself, no problem. This isn't how it works in a gang of killers.

Of course it wasn't all bad. He'd gotten closer to the Reaper Ashita Saisho and pursued the loveliness of her body with tameable lust. Only in death did he seem to overcome the physical needs such as sex and alcohol; they were frozen in time, neither satisfied nor in any desperate need to be satisfied. The dusty, cob webbed elemnt that is Emotional Attraction could now roam his personality without any hinderance from the mortal desires of his past life.

But still.

The shadow of that Crazy Son of a b***h loomed over everything pleasant and painful. He was a well calculated but reckless God, and knowing that such an unpredictable creature held Dev's existance in his hands made the Reaper all the more desperate to get back to Detroit. There was tension here and it exhausted him, like a muscle contracted for too long. It was either expell the problem or flee from it, and Dev knew when he was outmatched.

This is too big for me. The rules in this Game of ambition and survival too harshly varied with those he'd been raised with. You didn't just toss the king aside and clear the board, rearrange the pieces as you see fit. It didn't work that way. People get upset. Knights become pawns, pawns become mindless, mindless--

"Chess pieces." Devante growled aloud, staring down into the Scramble. "That all we are t'ya, Sho?"

He received no answer and hadn't expected one. Nervously, conclusively, he swirled the drink in his palm and listened to its quiet slosh. Sighing, he got to his feet.

"To the new age." Devante shouted with mock enthusiasm, the bottle pressed to his lips. With a gasp of quenched thirst he grinned down at the arriving Players. "Let's make it a good one, yeah?"

As Devante dropped the bottle, cracking his knuckles, a message blared across the big screen in gray and white script, bearing within it the authority of life itself:

2010, Year of the Lion.

Ashi stood on top of the 104 building looking down on the crowd below, it had been a long time since she had entered the game, she was now 17. She sighed as a cool wind blew past her. What's Minamimoto-sama planning for this week...? She wondered silently. How was he preparing for the new game ahead? Would he change any of the rules?

All of these thoughts unsettled her. The young woman had been in the game for so long now, it was already bad enough... Would the new composer make it worse?

The young reaper was so lost in thought that she barely noticed her friend sitting only a few yards away, he finally caught her attention when he shouted.

"To the new age."

It surprised her and she quickly turned to see him gulping down Sake. She said nothing, he hadn't noticed her... Ashi longed to sit next to him and get a hug from him, but the alcohol he had frightened her... The memories from her life stopped her. Froze her where she was and forced her to turn back to the Scramble.

She tensely waited for the week to begin. For something to happen....

As the cold realization set into the 'Coffee King's mind, Hanekoma sat back in his cafe, scratching the side of his head in disbelief. There was no expression being portrayed from the being's face--instead, he simply sighed before drinking a cup of his own Coffee.

"This tastes kinda funny ...", Hanekoma stated, closing his eyes and wincing from the aftertaste. "Never tasted like this before ... hm."

Sanae's mind had been filled with nothing but worry after the chaotic, unforeseen 360 turn in events. His eyes dulled a bit as he stared out into the gloomy sky, shaking his head a bit.

The angelic being had aided the new Composer, but was this simply a mistake? A miscalculation? No, he had expected this to happen beforehand. He expected a Shibuya full of edge .. full of 'pizz-azz', full of death--death? It's not as easy as it seems, apparently. Life goes on, even in the afterlife. The soul is a powerful thing--aiding in the destruction or the building of a sound foundation. He wasn't doing his job right, Joshua had to leave.

"Gotta go an' check on these newer players. Hopefully they haven't bitten the dust already."

With that being said, Hanekoma rushed out of his cafe, tossed on his Pinstripe vest, and headed out of the door.

"Matters must be taken into the hands of the professionals."

Can't believe it..

"So it finally happened, huh? Oooh, Zing..What a pain."

The male sighed heavily as he fixed the bobby pins in his hair, his hands moving, and shoving themselves into the pockets of his vest, his brown eyes rolling slightly in boredom.
He didn't care. Really, he could of cared less for any of this.

He was an officer now, sure, but it wasn't like it was his choice. Hell, he didn't wanna be one, but he couldn't say no. Not again, anyway. Which sort of sucked, seeing as the reaper enjoyed being a harrier.
Less work.
And more time to play those games with Uzuki. Hey, he usually won, so it was free food for him.
But not anymore.

Being an officer sucked. At least for him, anyway. There was more work to do, he didn't get free food..And there was less time for him to laze around.
Which annoyed him quite a bit. He sighed once more before sticking that stick with bean paste at the end, into his mouth, sucking on it a bit as he pushed up his yellowish-orange tinted glasses, the whole city he saw was colored an orange-y yellow, instead of his actual colors. But it was always like that when he wore them.

"...Still don't see why I couldn't stay a harrier."

He grumbled. Now he had more of a chance to possibly get erased. Really, when he was a harrier, he ducked low, he was careful, he didn't get erased.
Hence the reason why he was still here.
But that was Koki Kariya for you. He did complain from time to time.
He glanced over at that screen that flashed in Gray and white script, shaking his head.

"Tsk tsk..Zing No one cares 'bout the year, aight, Sho?"

He muttered, before walking down the street idly. Had to get some exercise, I guess.
Kariya didn't really give a damn about the new age like everyone else probably did.
Then again, he was a lazy reaper who didn't really care about anything.

Asuka Kimuchi
Current Status:
crying (panic)

The last thing Asuka remembered was looking up blankly, random voices were heard, fuzzy black images of people looking over her. The girl felt numb all over as everything dulled and faded to black. Thus, this was the last thing Asuka Kimuchi remembered before succumbing to death.
It didn't last long ... but it felt like an eternity before slowly waking up--looking up at the dull sky and gray buildings with a dull headache.

"Uggghhhh.....my head." She muttered. The young girl mumbled, getting up into a sitting position rubbing the back of her head.
It took one glance around Asu's surroundings before looking surprised at where she was "Hey, wasn't I at school?" The brunette said in a shaky tone as she began to feel very uneasy in her stomach.
Asuka shuddered, wondering what was up. This is the Scramble Crossing, it was no big deal. Just everything was a little off today. Still, no matter what Asu tried to tell herself, the girl still felt the rising emotion of fear running through her mind at this point. The little girl's legs began to shake.

"I'd just go back...to school. Yeah, go back to the school, No need to find out how I got here. I'd left my school bag..need...to go get it." The brunette said to herself, brushing away the strands of hair from her face as she stood up on her feet. Glancing around, still shaken slightly before pulling her white rabbit hood over her face as it casts a shadow over the girl's features.
"Okay...time to walk back..." The rabbit said to herself. It took a moment of hesitation before she began walking, still Asuka's fears did not ease, tugging her hood to go lower as Asu felt that she was being watch.

She began to increase her pace ... and before the young bunny knew it, Asuka found herself running flat out in a panicking manner towards the nearest exit.

(I'm going to just restart Asu. Jade, said it was alright. Note, Asu is being panicky. )

Estefan Garcia at first was only aware that the pain was gone and that he could breathe again. Everything beyond that, the rules of the Game, why he was there, where, his entry fee-- it caught up to him slowly, so grateful was he that his body was no longer broken, dying.

But now he lay stunned on the pavement of the Scramble, urging himself to get up and find the Partner he'd need to survive the Week. He needed to get back home, find the mother f***ers that had betrayed him for his---------

He left a fine sum 'a money for you, man, an' we's takin' it--------------

Outrageous that even in death his brother had somehow negatively impacted the seventeen year old's life.

Estefan groggily got to his feet, straightening the squared lensed glasses perched on his nose. His skin was rich and dark, eyes small little beads of hateful charcoal. His dark hair hung over his eyes and ears, unkempt, unimportant, messily trimmed. The beginnings of a beard timidly peered out from the tip of his chin.

Standing at a little over 5 feet tall he was a light weight and scrawny with no muscles to brag of; the shirt and pants he wore, already loose fit, hung like a discarded second skin against his tiny frame. He knew he was unimpressive and hungrily sought out a Partner before the pickings became slim. Someone to balance himself out, to make up for his weakness.

I'm gettin' outta this place alive an' no one's gonna stop me.

"Uhn...."

Slowly the light of the moon would pry it's way through the darkness of her sleepy haze. Indigo orbs would slowly open, and adjust to the outrageously bright moon-lit sky....and slowly a young girl of the age of seventeen would realize that for whatever reason she was laying out in the middle of the street.

"Huh...? Wha....? Why am I...?"

As she'd sit up she'd lower her head slightly, her right hand would push off of the earth to touch her forehead. Her raven black strands would fall around her dark skinned face as if to expect the familar action of using her fingers to rub her eyes. Her movements would be impeded however with the sudden realization that something was sitting in the palm of her hand.

"Eh...? What's this...?" She'd ask herself curiously.

By lifting her head, and allowing the moon's light to shine off the smooth, and cold surface of what appeared to be a pin...She'd instantly take note of a pin that had the imagery of a skull printed on it's black surface. Next to it on her palm would be yet another pin...a purple ,and orange one. A white design that looked like a 'Y' could easily be noted right off as well.....At least she was aware enough of the brand to know that it was a 'Jupiter of the Monkey' pin....

Deciding she'd worry about these things later, and consider her surroundings....Sitting on the ground a rather confused looking girl would glance about.

"....This is.....Shibuya."

After a long pause she stared up at the sky, then took note of the 104 building....

"2010....Year of the Lion?"

...What was it she wanted? A glass of water...? That's right, that's right; that's what she wanted before it happened....

Vincent's eyes fluttered open slowly, a low moan passing his lips. The stink of alcohol was pungent, the male raising his head just barely to the point where he could see his clothes; he was still in his coat, his badge turned to greet him, jutting out like an iceberg lost in the foamy sea. He pushed himself up using his forearms, squinting down at the back of the laminated card.

"...Well, s**t..." He mumbled, readjusted his glasses, then flipped the card over, as if confused as to who he was.

"...Vincent Gale." He said, his eyes shutting tight in pain.

"This can't be!" Vincent cried out, snatching the card and tossing it aside in disgust. Memories flashed before his eyes, the cool of the metal, the look in her eyes, the taste of blood; all of it, all of it was before him.

Valentine.

Her image were burned in his retinas, her scent, her touch, her soul; all of it seemed to lay before him on the stinking concrete.

Inconceivable.

The male stood, looking around wildly. His long hair was matted and dragging at his shoulders, his white rimmed glasses falling off his nose. He caught them, and placed them back on roughly, his long doctor's coat catching his thighs and nearly tripping him.

Where am I...?!

I'll Rock Your World~

Chaos...

No. Recovery from the chaos, almost worse then the chaos itself. The world had a dark aura about it. An unsettling atmosphere that didn't feel right to the Reaper. The air seemed laced with electricity and excitement, the feeling brought along with it a new sense of power and control.

"Everything from these last few weeks had led up to this, haven't they?.." He whispered to himself, looking intensely up towards the electronic billboard where the year sparkled in bright gray letters. He had known something was happening, but chose to stay in the shadows out of the way... better then to get involved with even more chaos.
Now the world and the game was completely changed. For better or for worse, he did not yet know, but he would stay and find out. The world needed change anyways, now someone would finally bring it.
"Happy New Year, Minamimoto-...I hope there's no mis-calculation on your part. You may be a genius, but this is quite an achievement, have you really managed to think everything through?" Still though, 777 gave a small toast to their new leader's victory and drank down a shot of whiskey for him.

Despite all of the negativity that he felt, he still had a really good feeling about this. With a smile creeping across his face, he took a seat on the edge of the building he was on and watched the new players wake up to their future. Maybe this would be fun.

Zeem barely even noticed the transition from one day to the next, as he continued to stare up into the sky above him - pretty much the only thing in the Scramble that was left to see, aside from the endless crowds of cars and people, interchanging as time went on. Probably the biggest giveaway was the sky that was to be seen, and not just the mist. A mist of erasure, dosens of players being wiped away before his eyes, as the common people of the real world disregarded the slaughter which Zeem was awed by.

...yet he'd survived. Those Reapers sure are good at forgetting he existed...

...not unlike the people in the scramble he could see. People he recognised. Had they not even noticed his absence? He didn't want to stare into their minds and find out...

The thought brought his eyes back down to his wristband, the three pins forming an arc around the skull design the item already had. Peering to each pin one by one, he could feel the energy of each within him, but could not release. An easy question to answer - he was partnerless. No wonder that the last partner he had was so eager to make a pact - they were all ready to be plucked away and removed from the game. Just like he was now.

Standing up, he tried to get a better watch over the scramble, but it was impossible from the ground. Seeing little authority that would care, he swiftly brought himself to climb up onto one of the traffic lights, his plain black jacket blowing aside in the artificial breeze, and, earphones down to the neck, watched for any notable desperation.

Since that was the state of most players in his first week...

(Also partnered already. By the way Tuyoki, your posting method is rather irritating to read and scroll through o_O)

Minamimoto smirked widely, resting his head on his right hand & raising his glass with his left hand in order to toast. Toast to the new millennium--the new era that was about to occur. His eyes slit, his signature cap resting underneath the table, his arms--tattooed completely from his almost unsightly transformation. As he began to speak, his eyes dulled down a bit in a somewhat sinister expression, as he bared his teeth for all at the table.

"First of all, I'd like '2' thank all of those who've supported my ventures from the start--and if you haven't, then you're zetta GARBAGE . . . and I would strongly suggest you get use to it, because I plan on being the Composer for a very, very long time. Secondly . . . there's absolutely no miscalculations--have faith in your new Composer and I promise I will not let you down. With this accomplishment, how could I possibly fail now, eh?"

Minamimoto was standing on top of the world in his eyes--on top of Shibuya, that is. He was amusing himself, really--since there was no one in the room at the moment. Speaking loudly as if they were all assembled within his quarters. His dark silver hair blew freely as the cool breeze arrived in the room--this was only the beginning. The big picture had not yet been achieved . . . or to many, even realized. Whatever goals the Shinigami had in store, their strategizing has never failed, even against each other. This was truly the beginning of the end. The end of an era, portrayed by a crooked Composer, or the end of Shibuya as we know it. He could no longer be portrayed as the anti-hero, he could only choose between being a hero or a villain. Either the Shinigami would become allies with the Players, or the Players would have to fend for themselves as they have been for so long. It's a kill-or-be-killed system that never stops. Eradicate or be eradicated.

Asuka Kimuchi
Current Status:
confused (WTF?)

Running into 104, The young player panted loudly, hands on her knees. THe feeling of being watched still has not left poor Asu, as she glanced around the aera before looking up at the sky.
It was dark. That made Asuka gap before letting off a whine of protest "What! How long was I out?!" She said out loud, not as loud the bunny wanted as emotions changed into confusion as Asuka wonder what happened to her.

All, the schoolgirl could remember was that was going to class, those brats from earlier bothering her, she dropped some books near the stairs and.....then.

Asu clenched her fist at the thought in a hidden sense of anger, maybe it frustration that her head too jumbled at the moment or perhaps something more.

The anger ebbed away, but it still lingered on but there were other issues at Asuka needed to do. It was late, she should get home. Her parents are possibly wondering where there little girl was.

Maybe, the player should ask around. Maybe it was a little late like 7 or 8, hopefully. Looking around before spotting, a girl around the same age as her but dark skinned with black hair.

Cocking her head like a curious puppy before Asuka perked up happily possibly happy to find someone. "OH! HEY!!" The brunette called out as she rushed towards the girl.

When Asuka approached, the sitting girl, the only features on her face were only her eyes which shown relief. She felt better being with someone as an unknown smile crossed her face.
"Hello? Can you tell me what time is it, miss?" The little bunny asked curiously, though noticed the girl was looking at something. "Whatta staring at?" She dared to ask, looking in the same direction at the 104 building which made Asuka raise a brow at what it said.
The building was the same but had something else on it as the young rabbit made her comment about it.

"2010, Year of the lion? But, the lion isn't even part of the zodiac."

(I still need a partner. TT___TT Anyone want a mood-changing bunny? )
PostPosted: Thu Jul 23, 2009 3:57 pm

Red eyes opened and the girl sat up at the edge of the scramble crossing, wide frightened eyes looked around for a moment taking in the world around her before she finally went to stand.

ting~

Out of her hands a small object dropped to the ground, taking a small step back in surprise, she bent over to pick it up. It looked like a pin of some sort. These things were getting so popular.. She must have dropped one of hers. Turning it over, she looked to see which one she had dropped before her eyes widened and she only dropped it again.

With two staggering steps back, she covered her ears with her hands and let out an ear piercing scream.

"NO-NO-NO-NO-NOOOOO!!!!~" She cried out, bursting into tears. Not again! No, this was never supposed to happen to her again!! She played this game once already, she won it! She had finally gotten her life back dammit!!!! Why again? Why this time!?

'Stop crying and think for a minute...'

With the voice inside of her head, Meru stopped her screams instantly and broke off into soft sobs as she slowly picked up her pin and attached it to her body. Right, she remembered now... it was the fire. There was nothing she could have done about it.. just was a very unlucky person. Least her entry fee was different this time, at least she could retain her 'other half'. Her sanity was all she had left...
