Malice
It started in 2010, when the Institute was founded and the Altered were born. After years of being the mistreated subjects of an underground experimentation for discovering a serum for immortality, the Altered fought their way out and the rebellious mutations created an underground base known as “Retribution”. Many more years would pass and both the Institute and the Altered would fight each other numerous times, the Institute trying to regain control over their “failed experiments” and the Altered risking their lives for their freedom. Hundreds would be killed and the world around them crumbles away with every minute.

The year is 2203 and with more Altered rebels fighting back against their creators, the Institute is forced back and victory for the Altered people is just a few days away. Their men outnumber the Institute’s and failure to take over the base is no option. Thousands of Altered surround the main base and the Institute gets nervous with every move their enemy makes.

But the Institute has one more card up their sleeve, and they’ve created a new being that is as close to immortality as they will ever reach. Hundreds of people taken captive by the Institute have been turned into superior “Altered”. Beings that possess the same strange powers as their brethren, but are almost impossible to take down. These super humans, with a gift of “immortality” are known as Eternal.

The superhuman army is being prepared, and the Altered are hesitant to attack the base. The Eternal have already been sent out to wipe out the Altered people and the rebels are losing men by the second. The war is at it’s peak and the final battles are being carried out. With thousands of Altered and only a few hundred Eternal, the victor is still undecided. Until the Institute is taken down or the Altered people are all annihilated, the war will continue on. And as last chapter of the Altered Chronicles has commenced the only question is, who will win?

Willow sat on the desk of one of the top men of the Institute. They had called her in so she could be assigned a partner and now he was asking her to get off his desk. She ignored him and crossed her legs scanning the room. It was empty. She didn't look at the man sitting in the chair behind her and instead hummed for a while. After ten long minutes of silence she let out a long sigh. "Where is this guy anyways?" She hopped off the desk and faced him frowning.

The man looked up toward the door. "He's on his way. Have patience Willow."

Willow rolled her eyes and plopped herself into a nearby chair. She was so used to being on her own and now she was going to be given a partner. Curiosity overcame her and she spoke, "Is he as grim as the rest of you?"

The man ignored her and waited.

Silhaku walked in with his head down and covered in sweat. "Im sorry im late, just was finishing my training." He sat down in a chair not even glancing over to the girl sitting next to him. "So I have a partner now. You know I like to work alone right?" He let out a sigh before saying "Well just as long as she stays out of my way then I can care less."

He pulled the flower out of his hair and started to admire it. "Well if there is something we have to do tell us. I need to get out of this place anyway, I am sick of these walls."

The Institute man laughed and handed a piece of paper to Silhaku. "Your orders are simple. The two of you are to head out into the wastes and find any rebels and kill them on sight."

Willow studied her new partner and then snorted. "He smells. I want a new one." She was referring to the sweat dripping off of him. She wasn't fond of his attitude and was quite the strange one indeed. If this was the man she was going to be stuck working with, she was going to run away and never look back.

"Willow, shut your trap and get to work." The Institute man turned his back on the two of them and continued some paper work. Willow stood and stretched. She had no time for this flower guy's attitude and wanted to get her mission over with. She turned to him, grinning like a cat. "Well you heard the man, let's get going." She didn't wait for his response and instead skipped out of the room.

"Killing rebels" Silhaku placed the flower back in his hair and followed his new partner out. As they walked down the hallway he said to her "So you know how to kill don't you? Well it wont matter because I want to be the one to take the heads of the rebels we find anyway. I want to kill them all. And im sorry of I offended you back there... I just dont think an us Eternals need partners."

Willow laughed out loud. Could she kill? She had already slaughtered many of her rebellious brothers and hadn't gotten a scratch. Her new partner was a bloodthirsty being and she could probably get along with him.

"Yes, I can kill. And you'd better we prepared to share, cause if I don't get to kill I'll just waste away." She stuck her lip out at him and pouted. She then laughed and cracked her neck. "You didn't offend me, I offended you, stinky. Eternal don't need partners, but we have to obey the rules and do what the Institutey says."

She continued to skip, and when they reached an elevator she pushed the button and leaned against the door. Again she studied him and her eyes stopped on the flower in his hair. "What is that?" She asked, pointing at it.

Busy whisteling while he walked down the halls, there was the sensation of thoughts sparking. Something about partners, blah blah blah. It really wasn't something for him to be concerned about.
Instead, the boy continued walking and whisteling a tune he didn't even know. It was odd, but he didn't question it. A few moments later, and he was at a gate. Staring blankely outside of it, he quietly unlocked it, praying a guard wasn't nearby. The last thing he needed was attention, especially since he was already under suspicion. Again.
His name was Scott, and like many eternals, he was taken by force, and unwillingly. Just another day in the life. Fortunatly for him, he was happy to be telepathic, as eavesdropping was a favorite hobby of his. What he was doing out in the wastes was unclear. He was restless, and wanted a fight. And as getting into fights with institute members is dull, he would find some rebels. Not to kill them. Oh no, he had no interest in the affairs of either side. But if he found someone to release his boredom on, then the institute couldn't blame him. He attacked a rebel. Heck, maybe they would lighten up a little.

Silhaku pulled the flower out of his head. "This... its a lot of things. My birth, my youth, and my father. That is what this is." He placed it back in his head without explaining any further.

"So do you have a reason for fighting against the Rebels? Everyone needs a reason to fight. If you have none then you might end up less immortal than you think." He stepped into the elevator as the door opened and leaned into the corner.

Not preparing herself for the opening of the door, Willow fell on to her butt of the elevator floor and let out a long laugh. She was going to point out that the flower was just a flower and couldn't possibly be any of the things he listed when she had let out a yelp and fallen. He seemed like a strange guy and the flower left her with many questions, and she had the urge to pry him open to find the answers but decided not to.

"Reason? Who needs reason? Killing is fun. And I've learned there is no such thing as immortality. We'll die eventually too, we're just harder to take down then our brothers." She remained on the floor, looking up at him. "My name's Willow, what's yours?" She was famous for changing the subject and doing completely random things.

He smiled holding back his laughter. "My name is Silhaku... Wolfurlan, Silhaku." He leaned forward and pushed the botton to get to the ground floor. "You say there is no way to gain immortality? Well you are wrong when it comes to that. Everyone has the ability to become immortal and im personally trying to get it for my father's sake. And killing the Rebels is how I will obtain that immortality."

Willow laughed. So Silhaku was vengeful. She was already starting to get used to his mysteriousness. He proved to be an excellent partner and she knew they were going to have good times in the future. But at that moment, she didn't agree with his statement.

"Immortality is in your head. No matter how many of our rebellious brethren you manage to slaughter, you won't gain anything from it." She giggled and stood when the door opened to expose the main floor. "But if it is what you believe, damn me to hell for trying to convince you otherwise." She skipped out into the hall and turned to face him, grinning. "So what exactly do you do, Mr. Wolfurlan?" She rose an eyebrow and pursed her lips.

"Well its nothing much" he said as the silver chains on his leg pushed him off of the ground and walking him out of the elevator. One of them on his back grabbed her and pulled her next to him were it turned into a chair for her. "A relexing way to get around you think?"

He looked over at her and said "Controlling metal might not be much but I can make due with it. Well what about you? Is your powers something I can admire?"

Willow grinned as she was lifted onto a metal chair and hoisted off the ground. She laughed for a while, enjoying the ride. Silhaku already reminded her of a brother and she was positive they would make a great team. He controlled metal, which was very interesting indeed.

When he asked about her power she studied the metal a while longer and then looked back to him. "I don't know, can you admire a pyromaniac?" She turned her wrists over to present the lighters taped there. Flames shot out of both of them, but she controlled it so that only small bursts shot up into the air. When she finished with that show, she shot a long line of fire down the hallway, careful not to burn anything on it's way. The flames grew hotter and the color changed.

"That might come in handy." he said as he stopped and made a piece of the chain around his neck break. It surrounded the flame and compressed it into a small sphere. It glowed a hot red color as it flew over and connented onto the tip of his earring. "Im going to actually feel sorry for the first rebels we meet."

When they got to the entrence he took in a deep breathe. "Well here we go. You think we are going to be gone long? I hope so because the longer were gone the more Rebels we get to kill. Getting out of here is a bonus." He walked out of the door into the sunlight, blinding him for a moment.

Willow remained on her chair thinking of how it resembled a throne and she turned off the lighters underneath her arms. She felt so powerful at the moment with Silhaku at her side. She felt that no one would be able to stop them if they worked together. She loved the feeling of power and she suddenly got the urge to kill.

"We can be gone as long as you wish, Wolfy." It was her new nickname for him. "The question is, where to first?" When the doors opened she smiled up at the bright sun and let out another one of her infamous laughs. "Who will be our first victim?"
