Those of us in the army were there when it happened. We felt it the day our loyalty passed to another. Some were afraid, some were angry, and others just didn't care. But for all of us, this was the day the world turned on its head. The day we became something else. This is our story.

Captain Gladys watched as his men slaughtered the remaining villagers. He was following orders, but it hurt to put women and children to the torch, even for those who had done so for so long that they had no soul left. The commander watched him, so he followed his orders. Not a living soul would remain when he was done.

The commander quickly tired of watching the slaughter, and retired to the house of a noble we had just decapitated. My soldiers, apart from the garrison, had taken to clearing out homes and hidey holes. I had issued the order that if it could be done quietly, move as many people as possible to a storage warehouse near the end of town. It had been one of the first places searched, so would be clear, as long as the refugees could remain quiet and unseen.

Alura was in the town with a boy that she was taking to the Palace of the Prophets. She and the boy got caught up in the choas of the round up people heading to the warehouse. She could see the fear in the faces of the people around her and in the face of the young boy in the Rada Han. She used her Han to supress the boys panic, and walked among the panic town folks.

*Ladrik was up near the front of the crowd of townspeople. He ushered them quickly into the abandoned warehouse. As, he did so, he kept a wary eye back towards his commanding officer, making sure that The Commander was not coming back to check on them. He could see the panic and the fear on the peoples faces. He imagined that he knew what they were feeling. He was feeling it himself, but in a different way. He and his squad would be executed on the spot if they were caught.*
Quickly, quickly! *He whispered to the group of people next to him.* You have to hurry and please God, do it quietly!
*his anxious voice made the people hurry a little quicker, but there were so many of them. He had no idea how they would all make it into the warehouse before The Commander found out what was happening.*

Captain Gladys knew that it would be a close thing to get as many of the villagers as possible away from the garrison. He needed a distraction. He walked to a lone soldier, making sure there were no men but his own watching
"Corporal", he says to the garrison soldier, "I need you to come with me, we might have a problem."
The soldier followed him to the opposite end of town, to where a few of the poorer farmers were wintering their sheep. Captain Gladys took a quick look around, and seeing nobody, he slit the mans throat. The corporal dropped soundlessly, the surprise evident on his face. The captain dragged the body to a barn, and quickly dropped him within sight of the door. He lit a torch and threw it into the haystack, which burned quickly, releasing clouds of smoke into the barn. He stooped and smeared a bit of the corporals blood on him, and ran to the garrison soldiers shouting.
"Attack on the east side, get these men over there now! Damned villagers have started a fire, must be thirty of 'em." he yelled at the officer in charge.

*The annoucement made everyone in the vacinity jump in terror. The people started panicing. Ladrik tried to calm them down, but on top of their already extreme fear, the took on the look of cattle about to stampede. He tired to keep them in line to get into the warehouse but there were just too many of them.
One of the fightened townspeople saw the smoke and the fire coming from the other side of the town, saw the soldier rushing to quell the "attack." He quickly backed away from the group of townspeople, grabbing one of the soldiers that ran past him in the process.
He held onto the surprised soldier and yanked his sword from its scabbard, quickly cutting the mans throat as he broght the weapon up.*
"Come on!" He yelled to his follow country men. "If others are willing to fight, we need to help them! I will not be ruled by these army pigs!"
*he dashed off, following the direction the other soldiers had run, a cheer and several of townsmen following him.*

Alura decided to help the villagers in the attack that is starting in the east. With her charge behind her. She pulls out her dacra and starts to gather the villagers. She call them all together and spoke.
"We need to fight back or die in fear. So make your choice, I fight for my life." she said to the crowd.
Then she walks to the door, looking for enemy soldiers.

*Ladrik made his way to Capt Gladys through all the chaos.*
Sir! We have to get this under control or our objective to try to save as many of them as possible is going to fail! fail by their own hands! What do you want me to do Captain?

Captain Gladys grabbed the young soldier, and pulled him around a corner.
"Look, what you need to do is shut up and follow orders." he looked around quickly, seeing no garrison soldiers. "If you can, get as many of the townspeople as you can armed with whatever they've got. Get them behind the garrison soldiers. If you can do it quietly. I will lead our squad in a sneak attack to their flank, that should give you the distraction you need to make your attack count. When you hear the shouts, come running. Now get to it." he says.
The captain runs to the bulk of his men and shares his plan with them. they form up and prepare.

*He had his orders. Wasting no time, he took off running back to the warehouse where he had left the majority of the townspeople. He was distraught to find more of them had run off in search of a fight to freedom. He quickly grabbed as many weapons that he could, while keeping his course to the group of people. He started shoving swords into the arms of the remaining men.*
Here! Quickly and quietly arm yourselves with anything you can find, pitchforks, swords, torches, anything. Follow my directions and i will do my best to keep you alive! There are those who would want to help you, not hurt you. You will have to fight but we will help you!
*The faces stared at him, wondering if he was for real of because he was in a D'Haran army uniform, if he was just trying to make it easier to kill them. He understood their fear, but he had orders and The Good Spirits help him if he wasn't going to carry them out. He grabbed a few more weapons and held them out to the people.*
If i was going to kill you, why would i give you weapons with which to defend yourselves? Please, hurry, we don't have much time. You have to get behind the garrison soldiers QUIETLY! All women and children need to hide in the warehouse! They will be safe there!
*whether it was thhe frightened look in his eyes are the anxious, pleading tone of his voice, the people finally started listening. He directed them as to where to go and what to do. Once he had them all assembled in place behind the garrison soldiers, he took his place in front of them, waiting anxiously for Captain Gladys' signal.*

The soldiers of the garrison swarmed to the other end of town. They were followed by Captain Gladys' men, staying behind corners and inside the abandoned houses. When all of the garrison soldiers arrived and saw the fire, Captain Gladys ordered the attack. His men rushed in from behind, killing as many of the garrison soldiers as they could silently. The captain waded in with his men taking two men from behind with his short sword. Four soldiers turned, and screamed "Treachery!" before being run through.
The captain yelled as loud as he could "Now!" and turned to the fight.

*At the cry of "now" from his Captain, Ladrik raised his arm in the air and charged forward around the corner of the building he was hiding behind. The men from the town followed with a cry that would have woken the dead. He had already told them which men to fight and kill, and which men not. He plunged into the array of men, some uniformed, some not.
He charged down upon a garrison soldier about to cleave a young boy in half, quickly cutting his throat as he came up behind. He glanced quickly at the boy to make sure he was alright, then turn back to the fight.*
